Gallery Girls Recap: Beginning to See the Light

So last week the wenches all headed down to Miami for Art Basel where Liz’s father was too busy to get dinner with her so she moped about it, Amy was eager to be used and abused to set up a pop up for EOC and Claudia and Chantal amped up the bitch factor with Liz. Oh and Kerri was like, totally busy and stuff. The girls are all still in Miami and we open with EOC sitting by the pool wearing ridiculous outfits and discussing how much the pop up is going to suck. Chantal is convinced it will be an epic fail and wants to call it off and even Claudia is starting to doubt when Amy calls them and tells them that she put down $2000 to reserve the location. Instead of being, you know, grateful the bitches all agree that Amy is insane and should be locked up. I bet Amy was the girl who joined a sorority just because it’s an easy way to buy friends.

Maggie and Liz are walking around the Rubell Family Collection which rivals her own father’s work when they spot Chantal and Claudia also browsing. They all interview how awkward it has been to keep running into each other and I start shouting out that it’s because you bitches are all contracted by Bravo to be at certain events at the same time. Liz is over the tension especially when at one point EOC walks right in front of her to view another piece without even acknowledging her. She invites them to Mokai which her friend owns and has set aside a table and some bottles for her that night. Chantal and Claudia agree to go and Claudia explains that if she is willing to throw the olive branch then she will take it. Is there even a real reason why they don’t like Liz other than Angela making fun of her the first night they met? How come Angela can make nice but they can’t? It’s like watching Mean Girls without the awesome gay guy shouting out about wanting his pink shirt back (best part of the movie).

Spencer is such a whipped pussy that he is flying in later that night to meet up with Chantal who has been teasing him that she is flirting with other men for free drinks and not wearing underwear. At least we know she isn’t airing out a bush but I’m sure we can still hear the wind flapping. Kerri shows up at Mokai and you know…I can’t get over her horse face. Ryan says there isn’t going to be any room for the hipsters and Liz hopes it fills up before they get there. Of course that’s all talk because as soon as they arrive Liz pushes Bobby onto the floor so that Chantal and Claudia can sit down next to her and Maggie…so she can ignore them closer to their face. Maggie finally prods Liz into talking to them and explaining what the situation is.

Watching Gallery Girls made me have a Real Housewives 2032 prophetic vision. I made a poster of it and put it in the forum here. But it wouldn’t let me put a link in the comment.

But you’ll be able to find it if you click the reality tv section. Since it has Gallery Girls and Real Housewives in the topic.

What will Amy do when she has to get *gulp* a real job? She is a try- hard. She just wants to be liked at any cost (like the pop-up which cost $2,000 and she paid for it!). Maggie’s boyfriend is suck a jerk. He treats her as bad as Eli does. She needs to grow a spine. Chantal will do anything to avoid working. She went to Paris. Really? She should be using that money to pay her Con Ed bill.

no mention on how Claudia was smoking in her store? That must be some sort of violation.
And maybe no one is buying their clothing because it all reeks of cigarette smoke?

Great recap! I have become addicted to this show!

Liz needed to back off BUT NoTipGate was kind of a big deal since they had bottle service and would have had a bill totaling around $4k had they actually been paying for bottles. The “Waitress” is actually assigned to your table and spends the night pouring and mixing your drinks and basically waiting on you hand and foot all night, so not tipping her is a huge gaffe. The bodyguard assigned to your table also takes a cut of that tip and basically if I had hooked friends up with that service and they acted like drunk assholes and stiffed the staff, I would be pretty pissed as well. Plus sloppy drunks are annoying. This coming from a world class lush!

Loved seeing Amy with her brothers, so cute! She did a great job with the pop-up, pulling it together took more than just writing a check and she really showed value. I find her so tragic that she buys friends though, spot on about the sorority. I’m sure the “move out and get a job in two weeks” storyline is a fabrication but I’m hoping she ends up with a good gig, even if daddy has to pay for it.

The EOC girls are amusing but such a pain, you have to listen to WWC to hear Flipit and the boys imitate Chantal, it’s spot-on! They also were all out that night at the mind melt exhibit so how long was their pop-up open? A few hours? Is that normal? Did they take Amy’s money and then ditch their own event to attend a show or am I off-base?

    Ok, rant(s) over!

It really bothered me that Claudia was smoking in EOC while she was opening bill and crying to her mom. There were clothes hanging right next to her soaking up all that smoke. Yuck! I would never buy clothing from a store if is smelled like stale smoke. Disgusting.

Galleries are a funny thing. When I interned at a Chelsea gallery, the owner smoked. I told her how it bothered me, and she just “contained” smoking in her office, not that it helped at all. Galleries aren’t as high traffic as say, McDonalds, so the no smoking law may be harder to enforce. Not great business practice, I agree.

The Amy story seemed really fabricated. Wouldn’t dad say to her “hey Amy, I’m putting the house up for sale. P.S., you’re on your own once this place is sold”.

As much as I want to hate Liz…I just can’t. There is something gangsta about her. She totally owns her bitchdom, and yet she is self assured, but flawed with daddy issues. I feel for Amy, can’t blame her for trying, but the girl has to hussle sooner or later. Chantal oy vey, I can’t stand her superior wanna be smugness. Her boyfriend is pasty and ill looking, too wimpy for my taste. Angela, slowly starting to like her, kind of on and off. When she says stupid things, I get back on the hate Angela bus. Maggie, she tries way too hard to keep up with the UES. I know shes a Dupont, somehow she doesn’t fit. Maggie, do me a favor…layoff the label shout outs. Tacky very tacky.

Chantal needs a good kick to the ass.
I knew a girl like Amy in highschool. She was tragic as well. I do think she has Liz nailed in that Liz has to be pissed at someone.

I like Jane H popping up just because I think that an older woman being viewed as relevant…I’m on board.

    Love the recaps!

I love Bobbby..what a nice guy..he trying to say to Liz about the mess Maggies BF and friend made of the place “they expect that” and how he kept putting his hand on her leg ( @ the Pool) to calm her down..what a great guy she is very lucky to have him..
as for the fake scene between Amy and her dad teling her he sold the place..unless he sold it without listing it..she would have to know for 3 reasons..
    1) brokers call before showing (most of the time)
    2) she would have to keep it clean
    3) brokers usually leave their cards behind so that the owners know they were there…I think that part may have been scripted like 90% of this show seems to be
back to Liz ..I understand her frustration..her friends own the bar and gave her a nice deal….her rep. is on the line..I do think Maggies boyfriend is a jerk and Maggie has such low self worth that she is alright with his frat behavior..not cool…
the EOC girls not work the effort to type…and
AMy ..I really feel for her ..she has a good heart..and tries..while I think the EOC girls will walk all over and use her…

Amy- Poor thing. It’s amazing what writing a few checks and having a film crew can do to throw an event together in a day. I hope life turns in her favor because she’s trying while none of the bitches around here deserve it.

Claudia- The flip flops comment annoyed me but she still doesn’t turn me off completely.

Maggie- I could actually stand her this week. Her boyfriend handled the situation with Liz perfectly. I actually think state tattoos on guys aren’t bad. Some people are proud of where they are from and it represents who they are.

Liz- While it’s still refreshing to hear opinions that are on par with what real people are thinking, bitch needs to get the hell over herself. Overreacting for more screen time hopefully because if she’s truly that dramatic in real life, she must be insufferable. She might have been a coke whore at 18 but she ain’t no gangsta. She’s a miserable soul who constantly feels the need to bully others to make herself feel like she’s a prize. The bitchier she is, the more that porn star makeup stands out. For someone with an art background, learn to tone down the eye shadow and pick up a blending brush.

Kerri- I think she’s pretty. I thought she looked hot in that blue dress but her story line is completely nonexistent. She doesn’t have a real job. She’s not overwhelmed. The writers need to get creative with her. I really think reality TV’s first escort/call girl would be ratings gold.

Chantal- Troll that deserves nothing good in life. How does that wench get to jet off to Paris for the weekend but can’t pay a $200 electric bill? I laughed at that. Either Spencer’s got the cash or that story was straight out of the pages of Bravo’s writing department. She deserved to get sick.

Angela- You know… I don’t hate her. Yes, she’s completely narcissistic and vain but that’s just her insecurity. She’s trying to present herself as a cool, interesting hipster and in the process looks ridiculous. But I think there’s a soul there.

I hope this mess comes back for a season 2!

My new fav reality show. Next time I’m in NYC I’m calling Amy to run my event! She’s a hustler and those EOC girls have no idea how to run a business. They’re going to smug hipster themselves right into bankruptcy. She hasn’t sold one piece of art and the other one just looks at people and says: Adore Me. Ick. She’s insufferable. I like what Claudia’s mom said though.

I am waiting for Season 2 too!!!!!!

I am an Amy fan—nice girl but needy (a little ) and tries too hard. She is harmless and the one who remembers to send a b-day card. I want her teamed up with Deena (Jersey Shore)– two little lushes in the big city–story will write itself.

Liz is a bitch of the first order. I see no knowledge of art coming from her at all. I thought the piece she did at school (that was allegedly stepped on) was fantastic. I hope next season it will focus more on art school for her. And I need to know ALLLLLLLL about what happened toland her ass in rehab–need to know.

Chantal and Claudia and I have to add in Lara ( our two seconds on screen co-owner who has no intro to show and yet is one of the seven in the pix)—the closing of EOC will be a blodbath. As a wise commenter said Chantal has no sense of urgency of EOC making money or I guess how necessary money is to make the store work. I know she has her modelling money but invest it into the store.

Kerri– back to LI girl– strip clubs are always looking

Maggie– what a sloppy drunk you are

    Angela–……..

..I guess it is coke BC ..if it was booze she wouldn’t be able to handle it as well as she does…she never gets to the sloppy drunk stage that Maggie does…
Liz is very straight forward when she speaks..I wonder why she doesn’t tell people what she was in for…as a warning to younger viewers….she tells about everything else in her life like how much money her daddy has, how he has no time ( or respect ) for her, which artists he owns,
the one thing that would actually help and educate people about ..she is quiet about……….
