Last week Angela held her shitty photo exhibition in an attempt to gain more attention, Amy got tattled on by Kerri, Maggie is starting to grow balls and we all got a taste of some much needed Sucklord.

This week the girls are all headed to beautiful Miami for Art Basel which is a huge art convention held every year. Liz meets with her mom and discusses her relationship with Bobby and heading to Miami and wanting to meet up with her father. Anne suggests that Marty does love Liz but in a different kind of way but Liz knows her mom is just making excuses for him. It’s kind of sad because Liz really wants his affection and he is just not willing to give it. She “whatevers” the situation as usual and says her mom just feels bad that Liz doesn’t have an emotionally connected father.
Meanwhile, Amy meets with Sharon who brings up ListGate and then promptly ends Amy’s internship. Amy tries to plead her case saying that Sharon should have taken the time to get to know her and see what she has to offer. Sharon bitch slaps her and tells her that she is too busy to get to know her and doesn’t have time for games that make her uncomfortable (like Operation, I hate that shit). Amy interviews that the hardest part is that she was let go because they didn’t like her personality. Um, no bitch she let you go because you went around delegating tasks like you were the boss bitch.

Good thing it was coke she was addicted to and not alcohol.
Maggie is whining to Ryan about going to Eli’s Pre-Basel party and seriously this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. The girl I worked with used to whine like that on the phone to her boyfriend EVERY SINGLE DAY and it is so irritating. There’s no reason not to talk in your normal voice. Anyway, Liz is also going to the event but has heard that Eli only has it to show off his apartment and his art collection. Chantal, Claudia and Angela are also attending because Angela needs to make contacts as an emerging artist and EOC just has nothing better to do. Maggie mingles with Eli’s family including his father and his brother who looks like a fatter, rounder version of him. I wonder why she’s so chummy with his family…maybe she has spent some quality time with them in the past? *wink, wink* Claudia and Chantal show up and walk right by Maggie and Liz without even acknowledging them which is completely rude. I know you guys don’t like each other but damn.

Maybe she thought they were part of an art installation?
Liz refers to them as Dumb and Dumber and them interrupts their conversation with Angela to invite her to her father’s breakfast in Miami during Art Basel. Chantal and Claudia think that not inviting them is completely rude and that Liz basically yelled across the room that they were not invited. Chantal calls her a bitch even though Angela tells the girls they need to be open and give Liz a chance. So Liz is a bitch for not inviting them for bagels but they can ignore her every time they see her at an event? Seriously, that’s totally okay for you to do but when donuts are concerned it’s a crime?

She’s growing on me.
If you like it, spread it!:

I always think of the Witches of Eastwick when I see their unimaginative black ensembles. They really all try too hard. Chantal’s little crying/hiding her face jag was childish. Was she crying because she wasn’t getting “her way?” What bothers me about Chantal is that she seems to be anti-profit. When Maggie and Liz went to their store, they liked the jewelry. They would have bought it if that misanthrope could forget her personality for a second and act like a professional. You don’t have to like your clientele and customers, but you better damn pretend like you do if you want to make money. Chantal shouldn’t be in business. She’s too smug for her own good.
Liz treats Amy the way Liz’ Dad treats Liz. Its easier for Liz to react and play the “I dont know why my Dad doesnt love me” song. Liz– you screwed up royally– your stint in rehab (and I am sure it was more than one stint—-not being a bitch but speaking from knowledge of my nephew), and “legal issues” prolly cost him big in legal fees, business rep etc. You have to earn his trust back– he loves you–he just doesnt like you very much. Accept the fact that he may not want to be around you now and that this could change in time.
back to reading—and yes– where was Liz last episode???????
I like Amy—she is harmless, well-intentioned and wants to be liked so much that it comes off as desperation. She tries too hard. She is a nice girl–will always come to your party, send birthdays cards, condolence cards etc and invite you to any gathering she is having at her place.
Cant wait to watch the episode—-missed it b/c I was watching “Hoarders”
Hot Cawfee, very well said and ITA! I actually felt bad for Amy when she was being fired. That Kerri is a sneaky one! While I don’t think Amy was right to delegate her work, the way Kerri tattletaled on her to the boss made me cringe! If she had a problem with it, why not speak to Amy directly about it. I know in my world, my boss doesn’t want to hear or deal with stupid things like that, we work it out amongst ourselves!
Thanks NotsyPerf (your new nickname–I do that). Kerri is a sly piece but as much as I like Amy–its not really her place to delegate despite being with Sharon longer than Kerri.
Alexa– good catch on Chantal–she is anti-profit. And seems to have no care at all if any of the bills get paid. I know she has a little modelling career going from a few episodes back. Maybe EOC is a play-business for her?? Both she and Lara have no sense of urgency or responsibility for the shop.
And question for all– I think of this every episode I see the sign “End of Century” . Does it seem more like a store closing than a store in operation?? Maybe “Fin de Siecle” (spelling??) would be better??
OK-last question–what is up with Lara?? I just noticed (b/c I dont take much notice of her other than I like her name and that she looks different all the time–she cleans up very pretty) that she is not in the intro yet is part of the show.
@hot cawfee – I thought the same thing with regard to the name of the store. Why don’t they just name it “Fire Sale” LOL!
Thank you so much for the quickly done recap…
I wonder if dumb ass Chantal was crying bc she was out of drugs?! They gave her waaaay tooo much air time again!
I also think that Eli’s brother looks like Son of Sam ~ that family was not blessed with good looking genes!!!
I liked Claudia until her comment about Liz’s clothes..did she take a bitter pill that morning..or was it the large art collection that Liz’s father owns that makes Claudia turn into a green monster…
and their freaky beach get ups..are you kidding?!!! ..How long did it take them to shop for that shit…you know they just need attention..total freaks!!!
I’m glad they cut out most of Spencer and Maggie
BTW Liz’s mother looks very nice..sure that she too has no connection to Marty since the big D.
Marty is a jerk out for Marty…
Interesting link to Liz’s father’s collection…

As with most reality TV, the editing plays havoc with the timeline. Chantel’s hair will become an indicator over time.
Next week’s promo warns of EOC’s money problems again. Art Basel was Dec 1-4, 2011 (according to Google). Yet 9 months later they appear to still be in business. Really can’t understand how … considering how much money they must’ve spent on travel to FL, dragging trinkets to sell, rent/buying stuff for their popup exhibit.
These people make me depressed. don’t know why I’m sucked into watching this train wreck.
You don’t have to specify that EOC was empty — it’s always empty, so we can take that part for granted when we visualize.
Just when I thought Chantal couldn’t be any more of a See You Next Tuesday, she complains about the coffee when someone has graciously invited her to their home. What a tool.
I’m betting that Amy was already on thin ice with Sharon, and trying to pass off the work that Sharon had given her to do to someone else was just the proverbial straw.
The EOC girls are just twat-waffles. No two ways about it. Chantal is definitely the ringleader, though.
I feel like Liz’s father treats her fairly well for the way she has treated him in the past. He had prior commitments when she invited him to dinner with her boyfriend. He seemed genuinely interested in making it happen. He strikes me as an unemotional type of person to begin with. Not everyone is holly and jolly. Liz needs to stop bitching about it. He supports her financially, brags to friends… she’ll get his full respect back when she earns it. Her relationship with her mother (who is very attractive) seems very good.
This week’s episode fell a little flat for me.
Liz- After watching her on WWHL, I wasn’t amused. She’s real on the show but she seems a little bland in the personality department. What she said about Amy was rude. She needs to get over it. I think she wishes she were more like Amy and had a closer relationship with her family like she does.
Chantal- Continues her streak of pure hatred and evilness. Please tell me this is all staged? She really can’t always be this horrible? I would have been tempted to throw the Folgers in her face. Even Claudia said she can’t take her anywhere and asked what was wrong with her.
Claudia- What’s with her decision to call herself “CLOUD-EE-AH.” Which is it?
Angela- Didn’t bother me too much this episode. I actually don’t hate her.
Amy- I like her. She’s spoiled and doesn’t know how to work hard, she tries too hard and is insecure but so what? I’ll take those faults above the rest of these chicks’.
Maggie- Don’t remember much of her from this episode. Still not a fan at all.
Kerri- Should have said something to Amy before going behind her back. She knew what she was doing. I’m sure this was all scripted but whatever. She needs to stop whining about how hard she works and how busy she is. She doesn’t have a real job.
Really feeling like this show is majorly scripted. I can’t believe any of the BK vs. UES drama. I do believe in the tension between Claudia and Chantal, though. That and Amy’s clumsy and misguided but well-intentioned awkwardness are the only somewhat realish storylines on this show.
I used to do the whole “cry when you don’t want to work anything out or do anything” trick when I was a wee teenager. Chantal was just trying to end the conversation any way she could, and she succeeded. It seems like she wants Claudia to fail. Maybe she’s getting tired of running the store and itching to get on that raft to Cuba so she’s trying to sabotage EOC.
I like Amy. She needs a reality check and behaves ridiculously but I think she’s acting out because she’s insecure. Yeah, she has rich parents, and is really blessed for that, but the Amy’s of this world don’t get anything handed to them from anyone other than their parents. Kerri just waltzed into Eli’s art show the 1st episode and get an internship with no qualifications, though I doubt it was as simple as that, but Amy would never be able to pull something off like that. ITA with @hot cawfee, she’s a nice girl who will go out of her way to be a friend and who can be mad at that? Though it would get pretty annoying to be friends with her.
Angela. Meh. Boring and tries too hard but she’s kind of okay. Would also be really annoying as a friend.
Maggie. Weak, passive aggressive girl. She’s shameful to me. She donked Eli, only to have him step all over her. How pathetic can you be? Everyone calls Amy fake but it looks to me like Maggie’s the snake in the grass. At least Amy carries her praises into her interviews. Maggie will pretend to do something nice–compliment an EOC girl’s shirt, come to the EOC opening–but cut to confessionals and she’s talking crap and saying she doesn’t mean any of the nice things she’s doing/saying. Who is she to call anyone out on their behavior?
Liz. I want to like Liz but her treatment of Amy is uncalled for. I hate it when people get sober and then act like they’re so evolved and better than everyone who still drinks. Granted, Amy should slow down or stop her drinking, but she’s 24 and to act like you’re so special because you got that out of you system already is so self-involved. Even if Amy did push back against Liz, she’s the person who is least likely to affect Liz in anyway by going against her and the most likely to be hurt by Liz’s meanness. Picking on the weak is pathetic.
And I can’t believe Liz doesn’t regret anything she’s said on the show. She was kind of racist towards asians and it was gross. I don’t understand why she didn’t get more flack for it. If she had said such condescending things about any other minority you bet your ass she would be catching hell for it and backpedaling like crazy. Imagine her going around her class looking at the sole of every black person’s shoe saying “I know one of these sneaky black people stepped on my painting! They’re so jealous of my pretty blonde hair and money!” Luann’s daughter said “my n***a” to one of her friends in a playful way and everyone was all up in arms about it. It was ignorant and immature, but she was 16 and in popular culture today people often don’t mean the n-word-a the bad way. Liz really seems to actually harbor disdain for asians and is unapologetic about it. I would be embarrassed if I were her. She came very badly.
Re: Maggie’s father and neon…….Maggie is a trustfund baby………her father’s family is DuPont.
If Amy can cut back on drinking she’ll be able to grow up to be Jill Zarin like nature intended. Or Lea if she goes back to Miami. Instead of Ramona.
Once she moves back to Orange County Liz can get started turning into Tamra. Shama lama yank yank yank!
If anybody’s got a list of 60 yr counts we could guess which 1 Chantal marries in 10 for her future as LuAnn 2.0.
Maggie’s going to look like Kate Walsh when she grows up. I think the spirits are still deciding which Housewife she’ll be though.
OMG Eli’s brother is a cartoon character! I had a feeling Eli might have cartoon blood. And turns out I was right.
kthXbai…I LOVE your comments!!!!! Thanks for the LOL
Maybe Chantal is a pothead – it would explain the lack of motivation, croaky voice, mood swings and that she thinks everything is funny (when she’s really being super mean).
Are any of them nice? Hmmm, maybe Amy. She tries too hard, though.
Chantal is just a slacker beyotch. I know these shows are not shown in the same sequence in which they were shot. But, since Cloudeeah is always complaining about money they’ve probably never had a lot of it. So, I thought it was a bit ironic that Chantal was surfing the web for Michelin star restaurants when the previews for the next epi show them reading a cut-off notice. Where are your priorities ladies?
And, I’m sure it’s just “End of Century” because it wouldn’t be pretensious, cool and hip with a “the” in it.
Okay, so Maggie is a Dupont? Then why does she seem so average going back home? Something doesn’t ring true for me. I find it funny when she says…where is my Louis Vuitton, I will wear my prada, then her boyfriend asks her where are his Wayferers,(please excuse the spelling). I have friends and family that do alright financially and I never heard labels thrown around like that. Does it seem a little contrive or are they playing up the Dupont name. Her family seems nice but not really wealthy, I know it’s her father’s side, but why does she try so hard. BTW, what’s with the hair twisting and the her upper top lip getting stuck on her poor fitting veneers?
I just read a couple of things on Google that Maggie’s G’pa worked at DuPont. He left her money. She’s not a DuPont.
On WWHL, Liz got fat!
