Two steps forward, three steps back for almost everyone on “Girls” this week.
Hannah has stuck to her guns as Elijah is furiously packing, after she asked him to move out based upon the revelation that he slept with Marnie after their party. Hannah asks him to take his butt plug and his astroglide, which somehow ended up in her room, out of the apartment. Elijah asks her to not sit on one of the kitchen chairs without underwear on (its like he’s never met Hannah before). She informs him that she will be rubbing her “crotchal area” all over the chair, back and forth, as she has spoken to George and he wants her to keep all the stuff he bought for their apartment, which is everything.

Who needs roommates when you have dessert?
Elijah informs Hannah that he won’t be paying rent this month, because he doesn’t have the funds. Plus, he paid for all of her burritos during junior year of college and she was always doing add-ons like spinach and pecans, so this equates to one month of rent in a Brooklyn apartment. Either she ate a lot of burritos, which I don’t doubt, or those were Jack and the Magic Beanstalk pecans she was adding to her burrito.
Spite is definitely on the menu, in this week’s episode. Goodbye, Elijah, I’ll miss your one-liners. Hannah said some people are meant to stay in our past, and she tried to repurpose Elijah, but it obviously didn’t work. I like the phrase ‘repurpose’ in terms of other human beings- it truly dehumanizes them to the point of being an inanimate object. I tried to repurpose a coffee table once, but I’ve never tried it with a living, breathing human being. I’ve been inspired though.
Hannah has made $200 because JazzHate has published one of her pieces, presumably about the time that cocaine became the truth serum that further unraveled the lives of this group of friends. Still, $200 is a lot of money and Hannah has decided to use it to throw a dinner party for her friends. Charlie and Audrey are in attendance when Marnie shows up with a bottle of wine. Marnie may be technically living out of a suitcase but she knows to always bring something to a dinner party. She doesn’t understand about crossing the line, though, and showing up at a party for which you received a sympathy invite.

Two layers of clothes is two more layers than Hannah typically wears
Charlie and Audrey debate leaving, but Hannah informs them that she had no idea Marnie would actually come, because she has betrayed Hannah and slept with a gay guy, and Hannah figured she would be too wise to show her face. Hannah is able to convince Charlie and Audrey to stay while Marnie is in the bathroom. When Marnie exits the bathroom, she also says she will go, to avoid any awkwardness, but Hannah talks her in to staying too.
If you like it, spread it!:

Good recap!
The bathtub scene was inspired.
I know how this makes me sound, but here goes: I DO remember every episode of Sex and the City, and while there was an anal sex episode, there was never a reference to butt plugs. Which is why Shoshanna probably never heard of them.
This show makes me crazy….
I think that is Lena Dunham’s intention. It is supposed to be a painfully realistic portrayal of twentysomethings that make you cringe that you did/do act like these people in this stage of their life.
I know people that didn’t know what butt plugs were until I informed them. Married people…Let’s just say that when I’m invited to a “lingerie” bridal shower I assume that’s code for kinky sex toy shower. My first sign should have been that both mothers were in attendance. The second sign was when the bride was opening floor length silk not see through dressing gowns. It was too late to retrieve the giant dildo, butt plug, industrial size astroglide, and handcuffs. Half the people there wouldn’t even touch the stuff! Anyhoo, the bride is still my bestie and totally accepts that I suck at girl stuff. So I believed the Shosh storyline.
Also dying to see the bad tit…
Loved the tub scene. It just seemed so real. I’m not far out of my twenties and these awkward but genuine moments hit close to home.
I love this show!
The entire episode was so cringeworthy, but in an honest “shit, I’ve been there” way
