Glee Project Recap: Fake It ‘Til You Make It

In their session, Artie tells Carpet to be confident about not knowing anything.

Has anyone noticed Carpet’s big-ass calves? Forget cankles, those calves make up her entire legs

Magic Carpet, Generic Hottie 2, Lily, and Shhnnnanana do well in vocals, while Abe and Wheelchair Barbie don’t. WB really needs to tone it down (haha, tone, singing joke) and try being serious for once. Abe is just bad.

Also, I love how everyone has been hating on Nikki in the comments lately. I never liked her, because she’s bitchy without being funny like Zach, and pregnancy has just made her worse. That said, a spinoff of her, Zach, and Robert could be amazing. It could be called The Glee Pro…ducers! Any takers? I’m sure Oxygen would eat it up. If not, then Lifetime. They’ll buy any old shit that could potentially draw female viewers and lonely gay men.

Wheelchair Barbie is clearly not a morning person. On the other hand, I’m pretty sure Blake is one of those ridiculously photogenic people who can never take bad pictures. Like Neil Patrick Harris.

The video concept is the mean rich kids versus the broke kids who learn to love each other. Am I wrong or are the videos this season just uninspired? They were so much more artful and interesting last season. RIP GleePro Season 1 <3 Gone But Not Forgotten

Charlie decides to be a method actor and stay in character (an obnoxious, almost Archer-esque rich character) the entire time, which, surprise surprise, no one else likes.

Blind Side gets told to act more (PS he’s in sunglasses again), and he’s “stunned’ because he knows he’s such a great actor. He just keeps getting more and more unlikable.

Video Notes

- Where are these supposed broke kids having fun in the beginning?
- Blind Side really did give the camera nothing
- Nellis’ voice sounds really good.
- What’s with the white v neck shirts?
- Magic Carpet is great at playing the rich bitch. Her face is made for sneering. She’s a decent actress, though.

This was a pretty boring video, no?

Carpet, Shanna, Generic 2, and Lily all get called back first.

Nellis fades away in the group, Blake thinks too much (I guess?), Abe’s pitch was off, Wheelchair Barbie is too over the top, and Blind Side was flat. He blames it on Erik’s direction. That’s another problem with him, he never takes responsibility for his own fuck-ups. Charlie had a different “energy” from everyone else.

Because this is “Go Fuck Yourself” Week, instead of them picking a bottom three, all six of them are going to sing duets and then Ryan will choose the bottom three. The duet partners are Wheelchair Barbie/Abe singing “Last Friday Night”, Blind Side/Charlie singing “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”, and Nellis/Blake singing “Waiting for a Girl/Boy Like You”.

Blind Side talks about how Charlie always mangles the melody of every song. That will suck in a duet. I actually agree with him there.

Last Chance Duets

Blake/Nellis- pretty good! Although Blake is still too one-note. Ryan likes them both.

In last week’s HW we saw some heat between them as well…do I sense a couple forming? One without “groundrules”?

This pic perfectly sums up the two of them. Zach looks emotional and adorable. Nikki looks like the baby koala with a side of toenails she had for breakfast is repeating on her.

Wheelchair Barbie/Abe- their voices don’t really mesh and they rush the whole time. It feels kind of disjointed. Ryan calls WB a little funny Dolly Parton.

Blind Side/Charlie- I don’t know this song, so I can’t comment too much on any melody mishaps. I’ll just assume Charlie is fucking it up. Blind Side tries to do too much with that high note and everything. This is one of Blind Side’s better outfits, though, I have to say.

L-Money
About

Leah Michaels aka L-Money was deprived of cable TV as a child, so of course now she is obsessed with all things television. Hailing from Long Island, NY, she is currently a media studies major at Brown University. Besides sitting in front of the TV for hours, hobbies include video games, playing music, snowboarding, and being a DJ on the local alternative rock radio station. If you ever want to gush about the genius of Joss Whedon, discuss what kind of crack the Project Runway judges are smoking, drool over the food on Iron Chef, or sing show tunes, L-Money's your girl. Although she's young,  she feels she'll fit right in, as she's been making fun of people since she was eight years old (she was a precocious 2nd grader). Also, she loves cats. Like, a lot. She'll probably be a crazy cat lady when she's older, and she's OK with that.

this was an interesting episode, in my opinion (mostly the last part with the duets though) you are right about how boring the video was.Next weeks is good . im thinking charlie goes next week. Blake and Nellis were AMAZING in my opinion. best last chance performance of the season for me thus far. I thought they both sounded good and there was chemistry
Abe and Wheelchair Barbie were a hot mess.
CFC and BS were pretty good but the performance was kind of awkward to watch
my favorites are still blake and nellis followed by shananana

I finally saw this week why everyone loves Nellie’s voice. I always thought that she was faking that weird deep-accentish-voice thing she does, but her voice in the LCP was amazing (even with the autotune).

And I would totally watch The Glee Producers, especially if Zach got most of the screentime.

i think nellis is on the wrong reality show. she clearly doesn’t give a shit if she is on glee or not and is a terrible actor/dancer. Maybe try american idol next because x factor didn’t work out for her. I can’t get over how terrible blake sounded in the homework assignment and generic hottie 2 did make me cringe but he was the most energetic in the music video so ill give him credit for that. I think charlie needs some therapy before his “career” because he just seems honestly crazy.

Excited for next week, i can’t wait to see who has a breakdown over the slushies this year :)

I dunno, I think Nellis would work pretty well on Glee — she’d make a great shy geeky girl who slowly discovers her freaky side. Which is what she appears to be doing with Blake…. At any rate, she’s the only one of this crew who seems to come alive on camera. The rest of them really suck.

Speaking of suck… I hate people like Charlie who think they have to piss all over every fuckin’ song and destroy every fucking melody they touch with their own soggy ‘interpretation.’ I kind of felt sorry for Blindside there, since it’s pretty damn impossible to sing a duet when your partner refuses to sing the same song as you. If you can’t sing someone else’s melody properly, then you just can’t sing.

As for Magic Carpet’s calves — take a good look. She’s almost as big as Lily. It’s just that she’s better at dressing to hide this. And Shannannannanna is not all that far behind either. Which is a big part of the reason why this season sucks for me. Bring back Marissa! Wah!

Did anyone notice that Blind Side (Mario) sang his exit song alone? The other contestants sang the backing vocals as usual but they weren’t behind Mario when he sang his solo. He must have been very difficult to work with and extremely petulant about his exit. Couldn’t see him going any further.

Hopefully Charlie is next but last year I hated that do-nothing Irish kid so much and he made it the end, I’m afraid it will be the same with Charlie this year.

Oh yeah, I’m thinking Charlie looks like a young Christoper Walken and Ryan might cast Charlie just to get a Walken guest starring bit.

@Gerrit Verstoep I could deal with damian last year because he seemed like a genuinely nice kid. charlie is a douche. thats the difference we dont need a guy on glee who looks like a lesbian finn

I think Blind Side might have a hard time reading audiobooks because he’s blind :P I didn’t like him at all in this competition. Too whiny and liked to cast off all responsibility.

I think Charlie is hilarious. I also think he’s doing pretty well with his condition. At least he has a teeny excuse, unlike Mario.

Blake is a hottie but I swear he’s so bland. He’d be gr8 as Finn 2.0

I think Charlie’s acting like a classic Asperger’s/autistim case, so I don’t fault him for that — it’s the show’s fault for insisting on hiring the offspring of the cast of Freaks for this season.

Nellis needs a little blakin’ , heh heh. She’ll be great once she unleashes the tigress.

    This season is mad boring.

And out of the people, I think Abraham should have gone home. I don’t mind his personality, but he’s never really stood out in a good way for me. He’s always trying so hard and it’s painful to watch him because everything is so calculated and careful. I think he just needs to go home, get a firm grip, and then maybe take another run at being on TV. Mario is insane and also needed to go home, but at least he was funny with his delusions of grandeur, two-facedness, and the way that he would recklessly throw shade.

Charlie is annoying, but adorable and charming in his own little way. I also appreciate that he doesn’t trot out his aspergers as an excuse every time the mentors call him out on his behavior. I do think it’s a valid reason…his lack of impulse control and the way that he can’t figure out how his behavior will come off until the damage is done smacks of aspergers, not of douchebaggery. And he really does seem like a nice boy. I also heard that he and Aylin are together now, so I guess he eventually clawed his way out of the friendzone.

Speaking of Aylin, she is nowhere near Lily’s size LOL but she’s definitely a bit of a chubster. You can see it in her midsection and arms and she also has a little bit of a double chin thing going. The dress she wore during her last chance performance shows it.

I feel bad for thinking poorly about Shanna in the beginning. I was wrong about her.

Blake and Nellis are still cool.
But Michael has actually started to annoy me a little. I know he’s said like three sentences since the season premiered, but those three are just enough for me to tentatively say that I don’t like him.

I finally got around to watching this episode.

Hasn’t Charlie also said that he has ADHD? To me that was seems to be causing most of his problems not his Asperger’s, they keep saying that he’s all over the place. What he was doing on set wasn’t method acting. Method acting is what Heath Ledger did to become The Joker. Charlie was just unnecessarily staying in character. They should just shove some adderall down his throat, it would probable make him so much more tolerable.

Mario was just kind of insufferable. I’m not sad to seem him go.

Aylin isn’t fat, she’s just chubby and wears unflattering clothes.

Well, there’s still a difference between being chubby and being fat. Shannanaanna is chubby. Magic Carpet is fat. But I’ll never understand people who hope to have a career in show business who don’t watch their appearance — unless their career goal is to be a backing/sidekick character type, or they can get by on super-charisma and make a schtick of their non-standard exterior (see: Cee-lo).

I am way behind on episodes. They just finally put this on Hulu. I was glad to see Mario go. He was so freaking full of himself it was annoying. He could not take any constructive criticism at all. That is not a good quality. I am sure he doesn’t reflect on why he got eliminated and just blames it on them not knowing what they are doing.

I like Nellie and Blake for the win. I loathe Lily the most. I kinda like Wheelchair Barbie to a point, because I am a little over the top myself and it can be fun. Works good for stage acting at least.

Abraham should be next to go. He is bland city.
