The twist this week is that each contender is going to have to play whatever emotion Dianna shows them on a card before they sing. Here we go:
Generic Cutie- determined. His faces are pretty funny, but also convey determination. His 80′s style of singing is working for me, too. A-
Very intense. Maybe too intense. If I saw him looking at me in a bar like that I’d pay the tab and get the hell out of there
Lily- scared. Overdoes it as usual. Seems like she doesn’t know how to act subtly at all. She’d make a good extra to be killed off in a B grade horror movie, though. C-
Blake- angry. I don’t really feel it. He kinda smiles throughout. B-
Carpet- anxious. Sounds really flat and just acts like a toned-down Lily. C
WB- excited, which is her natural state anyway. As expected, it’s pretty good. B+.
Dianna’s comments- GC had good faces, Lily should have gone bigger (really?), Blake did a good job, Magic Carpet and WB were good too. But the winner is Generic Cutie. That’s nice, I hope he can distinguish himself from Blake a little bit more now.
The big group number is “Perfect” by Pink. They are making a movie trailer for a movie called “Perfect,” a coming of age story about kids in a small town.
Here are the characters they will be playing:
Carpet- Turkish girl with a conservative family who don’t know she was seeing the school quarterback and is pregnant. Wow, could this be any closer to Carpet’s true life? She’s hardly going to have to act at all! I know she isn’t pregnant, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up popping out a little Charlie sometime in the future (anyone know the Muslim policy on birth control?)
Blake- quarterback who everyone loves but is really an asshole
Generic Cutie- football player who is best friends with Blake but loves Carpet
WB- dreamed of being an Olympic runner until a car accident put her in the wheelchair
Lily- was driving the car when WB was injured
This movie actually sounds pretty good! Can I watch this show instead of GleePro? Look for it on ABC Family next spring, produced by Erik, Zach, Nikki, and Robert.
They start shooting the video, and Lily gets into a crying fit for some reason because she IS beautiful, no matter what they say! You just keep thinking that.
Apparently they were too lazy to write scripts (channeling Ryan Murphy’s work ethic), so everyone has to improv their scenes. Lily and WB start and it sounds like totally amateur improv acting classes. Snippet:
Lily- (looking at the ground) “So how are you?”
WB- (pauses) “I’m good, you know.”
Ugh shoot me. Lily does a decent job acting-wise, but she kind of takes over the scene. WB can’t really do anything but respond to her ham-iness.
