Glee Project Recap: The Popular Kid Always Wins

By L-Money | | 2:36 pm | 14 Comments

Well it’s finally here. We find out which one (or two! or three!) of these misfits will win a multi-episode arc on Glee as a forgettable, non-essential character with an average of 1.5 speaking lines per episode.

Will it be:

Blake- the bland, generic pretty boy who is an “amazing actor” but has the singing ability of Hellen Keller’s tonedeaf cat?
Magic Carpet- The “sexily frumpy” Muslim girl who isn’t afraid to slut her way into the hearts of America in the name of breaking Muslim stereotypes? Did I mention she’s a Muslim? MUSLIM
Wheelchair Barbie- the perky, optimistic, sickly-sweet cripple with a big singing voice, a bigger heart, and even bigger boobs?

Let’s find out!

The contenders talk about how AH-MAZING it all is that they’re in the finale! Magic Carpet, hell yes. Blake and WB, not so much.

The final theme is Glee-ality and the final HW assignment is “You Can’t Stop the Beat’ from Hairspray.

Robert tells them they have some very special guest backup singers. It’s the previous contestants, of course! Cuz who wants to hear just the three of them sing? Not me. And also, what kind of reality show would this be if there wasn’t a time when the past kicked-out people reappear to wreak havoc?

Knowing what we know now about Dani Biebs and Wheelchair Barbie, I’ll be watching the two of them very carefully.

<3 <3 <3 !!!

Of course Charlie and Carpet reunite, blah blah vom. Luckily we aren’t forced to watch them slobber all over each other again.

The final guest star is Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel AKA Porcelain Lady Face on Glee. They claim he inspired The Glee Project. Bullshit. Ryan Murphy had the brainwave for this show as soon as Glee became a hit. Chris is pretty reserved for a guest mentor- he doesn’t give us the old “I’ve heard so much about you” line. It’s kind of refreshing compared to the others (cough cough fake-ass Lea Michele). He also asks who the top three is, so I guess they didn’t brief him in the limo.

Yeah, sorry, I was busy having an Emmy.

HW Grades
Carpet- meh. Sounds flat as usual. B-
Blake- breathy and bad. I could totally see him as Link in the musical, though. C+
WB- steals the show. Seriously she glows and is amazing, and is it just me or did she totally get a bigger part than the other two? I kind of cringed when she got another “spinning round and round line,” though. A+

Chris’s comments: he liked Blake’s dancing and intensity, WB was a real character, Carpet kept her volume up (um, ok?). I laughed because Lily got so pissed when Carpet told her she was too loud, and now Carpet is told that being loud is a compliment (kind of). I think WB should definitely win this won. And…Chris pulls a big Ryan Murphy and picks all three of them to win the mentoring session with him. I wonder if this is a foreshadowing of things to come…

I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’re going to see of Aylin. I think Ryan always intended on Blake and Aylin having roles on Glee but didn’t wanna look like a jerk picking 2 winners and having Ali walk, I mean roll away a loser. It was a cop out to pick Blake, the safest choice. Can we just call him Finn 2.0?

From the Twitter of Ryan Murphy:

“Fan: I want to see Aylin on Glee.
    Me: Me, too.”

    Hoo, boy.

And I’d adore a show called “Head Over Wheels in Love”. Maybe TLC will pick it up.

It looks like Alex will be a regular on Glee this season.

I’m not surprised about Blake winning. And if last season is anything judge by he won’t have much screen time. And at least it wasn’t Aylin.

I agree that Ryan could get someone who isn’t Muslim to play a Muslim. But how much do you want to bet that a bunch of people will get upset if he did that. I’m sure there will be some group out there talking about how there so many Muslim actors looking for work. Why didn’t he get a real Muslim? Does he have something against Muslims?

I think i read that damian quit glee because he realized they hate him and he can be more successful with his recording studio back home.

I always thought zach was the person who reacted the best to everyone, but in this episode michael was giving him a run for his money. Seriously was he on speed or something he was jumping and cheering for every single thing that happened in this episode, makes me think he was relieved he was eliminated because glee kinda sucks now.

WB should of won seriously girl is awesome!! her and dani need a reality show asap, the chances of me watching that are much higher than me watching glee next season.

I hope they make blake’s character date alex’s character that would be weird and uncomfortable and make me laugh also been reading online that apparently blake and grant (sebastian i think?) hate each other. worked together once? ex lovers? who knows.

Also read online nellie is in love with michael and just released a song telling us all about it oh and shanna and maxfield are totally hooking up, just watch the reunion show, they “accidentally spotted her in his house trying to hide so she was forced to come on camera and acted all awkward” This show has become more of the bachelor pad than anything.

And i cant leave without mentioning charlie’s little ..”speech”..My dad said “glad aylin didnt win solely based on that idiot”.

Yeah, even Blind Side could’ve seen that Blake was gonna win. It’s a shame it was so predictable.

Was anyone else really bothered by how Aylin said “finale”? She put a lot of emphasis in the middle, like finALe or something. It just bothered me…

@Summer, where can I watch that reunion show? I didn’t know they were making one… All of that sounds WAY more interesting than this whole season of the Glee Project…

“Actually WB, you can’t really dance if you want to. Sorry.” LOL’d, so I’m going to hell, too.

ToneDeaf winning was a given, so I wasn’t really as shocked as I was pissed. He didn’t deserve it as much as Ali (or even Aylin). He’s already been on tv shows before, he can’t sing, he’s boring, and he doesn’t have the flaws that the other two have that Glee is about in the first place.

@Summer Just because Blake and Grant hate each other, I hope they make Blake’s character gay and hit on Sebastian. Maybe he could be a Warbler since the GleePro winners don’t get that much screentime or lines in their episodes anyway. But they’ll probably just make him some poetic jock so that Quinn can come back and get knocked up by him…

WB was my favorite… You know she reminds me of the voice of a disney princess ( i have a 5 year old girl…i hear ALOT of princess music!) Theatric and sweet with a powerhouse singing voice.
Happy for her if this glee pro thing gives her a career boost and found a girlfriend in the process.

Aylin and blake are so booooooring…blake was such a predictable choice and the poem…UGH!

I dunno ..the new fox promos for glee are interesting …that crapfest is gonna suck me in again I know it! ( love to hate, what can i say!) :)

WB should have won. They showed her face more on the “Tonight Tonight” video. There are so many “Blakes” running around Hollywood. He could have found a Finn 2.0 very easily. Why didn’t Ryan pick an interesting actor like WB or Aylin? Blake never stood out for me, but the mentors and writers seemed so ga-ga over him. Guess they saw something the rest of us didn’t. If Ryan wants his show to survive, he needed to pick more interesting characters instead of white bread male actor.

I also thought Blake’s poem was contrived and stupid. I almost thought somebody told him to write one and recite it at the end of his song, because he was so dull and boring compared to the two girls. I can just hear Nikki telling him to do that because “Ryan will love it!” Ugh. This season’s winner is a disappointment.

I also really liked WB. She grew on me. I was not impressed at first. I figured they just added her because of her wheelchair instead of her talent. She proved me wrong! She is super talented. I kinda act like her in that I am very animated with my facial expressions and it works for certain things and doesn’t for others. They told her to turn it down and she did and took direction. She also reminds me of a Disney Princess Blueberry Pancake! She totally could have a career with Disney in the future!

I don’t mind Blake winning just because he did not piss me off at any point unlike Magic Carpet or Lily, but he did not deserve it over Ali.

While it’s pretty obvious that when you give a couple of bitchy, ageing queens a choice between 2 talented women and an untalented male cutie, they’ll act as stereotypically as possible. But that aside, the show already has a wheelchair’d character (that irritating, fug boyband alum), but is losing the resident male lead (Finn), so I guess they needed a bland male lead. Plus, you know that those queens don’t want any controversy of the Muslim kind to hit the show (rightwing lunatics of both the Christian and Islamic variety needing yet another excuse to act bigoted).

Oh boy, I’m late, this show was pretty far down on my list… But I couldn’t see WB winning — she looks like she’s in her mid-30s (well, like most of the cast of Glee, I suppose) and just would never be believable as a high-school kid. They ought to cast her as a teacher — hell, they could get rid of that awful annoying Shue character and let her coach the glee club.

Not that I think Blake is any better, of course. He’s definitely an improvement over the Irish kid (who’s lookin’ mighty puffy).

I was almost won over by Aylin. If she’d drop those extra 30 pounds, she’d be interesting to watch. But I don’t watch Glee to watch a bunch of frumpy people jiggle about.
