So, you take the good,
You take the bad,
You take them both,
And there you have…
The facts of life.
A slew of cop cars pull up to the coffee shop and Wu rushes in and arrests Adalind. Nick and Renard come in next and Juliette has the same look on her face that she always does. Confusing/annoying/botox-craving. Juliette feels like Nick used her to find Adalind and is all btchy. Adalind tells Renard that she allowed this to happen because she was probably safer in police custody. She said that would look bad if she was killed in prison. Then she calls Renard a little prince and tells him to shut the door.
It’s about time you showed up.
Are you okay?
No, I almost died of boredom.
Monroe heads to Hank’s house and smells Hundjäger.
Nick is interrogating Adalind about her mother’s murder. Adalind says she was in Europe at the time and then she chides him about his problems with Juliette. Renard is watching from the other side of the glass. Nick sticks to his line of questioning. Next up, he asks about Hank and tells her that he got beat up last night right after she left. Adalind feigns shock and says that she had nothing to do with it. She said she went directly back to her hotel. She says the room is registered under GQR Industries. She tells him that the “key” to their success is “the key”. Then she leans in and tells him that’s what this is all about. The key. (I totes wish the key to their success was Juliette’s demise.)
Hey, did this table used to be a door?
As he’s leaving, she asks if he knows what happened to her cat. Renard is waiting for Nick and asks him if he knows what she meant by the key. Nick lies to Renard, while Renard stands there and lies to Nick. Gettin’ old. Nick goes to look up GQR Industries when he gets a call from Monroe. Monroe tells him that the lingering stench means that there are Hundjäger involved. Nick realizes that Adalind must be working for the royals and not for GQR, like she said. Nick does see that GQR owns the ship that brought in the Mauvais Dentes. Monroe says they need to find the Hundjager, so Nick tells him to start over at Adalind’s hotel room.

They KEEP leaving us with a lot to work with, a lot to be revealed. I’m sorry, but there is more wrong with this show than just Juliette, who I actually kind of liked in this episode. The devices they come up with to keep certain characters in the dark about things, and us in the dark about other things, are just too creaky.
Can I just say that I am OVER Juliette-Renard can have her. Why he’d want her-I don’t know. I LOVE Monroe and his girlfriend discussing clocks. I’m glad buff cop and his friend now can share the secret-I’m mad that he moved out of his own house. WHYWHYWHY isn’t the trailor locked up in his garage?? and Gee-I’d have moved that girl out to the couch and then off to where ever the hell she came from.
Did I say I loved Monroe?
I totes agree with you, Madelyne27, with what you called the showrunners under the “to be continued…sorry” card at the end of the show. Sorry, my fat behind! Not only was that apology B.S., it was insulting in its falseness.
I must be easy to please, but the “sorry” at the end made me chuckle. Sorry my patootie! A good recap, as always!
I’m with Pikey, I thought it was funny. Overall I thought the episode was pretty good; the story is advancing, slowly as it should. Love that Monroe was in the thick of things again. I don’t mind Juliette, and Nick not showing emotions is typical for 1. men and 2. cops so I didn’t mind that either. Love to hate Adalind!
But I’m mad that there won’t be any new episodes for awhile.
I thought Nick’s Mom took the key when she left town. Did I imagine this?
@wanda… i thought so too… or that she even had more than one… i’ll watch an old episode on Hulu and report back… but i’m glad you mentioned it, bc i wasn’t sure.
I thought Grimm-Mom took the coins and not the key when she supposedly left town.
Yeah, it was the coins that Grimm-Mom took, not the key. Wondering when she’ll pop up again.
I loved the episode. I don’t know what you all are bitchin’ about. We had plenty of Monroe and we had some monster whacking, plenty of Nick looking perplexed, some of the old world intrigue to keep us wondering for awhile longer and I like Adalind. This thing with Juliette still hanging in the balance….did you want that ended, is that it? I didn’t see her fired or “let go” in the gossip columns, so I think we’re stuck with her for awhile……
P.S. Your recaps are the BEST!
I think this may be a jumbo compliment to you, Madelyne27, but your recaps are so funny I don’t even care if I watch the show. In fact, I’ve never watched it. So there you go! But I’m thinking I just might do that, so I can totes understand what all the fuss is about. Plus, from your captions, Juliette seems pretty easy to hate on, and I def need more peeps like that in my life. Thanks for being so hilarious.
@chooch850, not loving this episode was just my opinion… and it could have had more to do with me being in a grumpy mood… i guess i just wanted ONE of the stories to have a little bit more drama… not just nick staring at the TV… and as far as Juliette… it’s not her character that makes me insane… it’s the woman behind the actress… i think she’s borderline uncomfortable to watch… like the scene where Nick come homes from Monroe’s, knowing she kissed someone and she tries to explain, and she using her hands to make us see that she’s nervous and she walks over to a chair, starts to sick and then stands up again really fast, so again, we know she’s nervous… it’s like a high school production with tons of overacting… and i didn’t like her Season 1, Episode 1 and i don’t like her now… but it’s not the storyline i despise… it’s just me being v picky about what i like and don’t like. phew…
that being said, i’m still so thankful that any of y’all read my recaps and make comments… i love knowing what other people think… and that people see and remember stuff that i don’t… (Like, yes… it was the coins, not the key…)
*starts to sit, not starts to sick… (Freudian slip)
About you said “here let’s just make out and creep the world out”-people call it “lust”. Welcome to adalt’s people world, girl.
Oh good, I’m not alone in disliking the actress playing Juliette and how she plays her. There’s something skeletal and too skinny about her face while the rest of her doesn’t look overly thin. But that sounds hateful on my part. D’oh! This storyline with Renard Is the only time I’ve liked Juliette. I really enjoy this obsession between the two. I questioned Nick’s detective skills when he didn’t notice Juliette’s very obvious reaction to Renard earlier and again at the award ceremony. Then I reminded myself that Nick is still a guy and largely unobservant.
I must be under the same spell because I am completely in love with Renard now. He is so big too. Swoon.
I really liked this episode. And I am crushed that there won’t be more for weeks. But I also pretty much just watched all 12 episodes within a few days. I love this show, but it’s not at the top of the must watch now list. I don’t know why.
Your recaps are awesome. I have questions about the cat scratch episode. On Demand doesn’t have last season anymore, so I’ll have to go back and reread. I need to go back further too because I don’t remember what Angelina and Monroe were to each other and why she left.
I didn’t love Adelind this much when she was there before, but I adore her now. Your description of how the actress was playing her was perfect.
I can help a little – Angelina and Monroe were old flames, back in his brutal blutblot days. Basically he needed to be away from her to stop his viciousness and become a vegetarian, a concept I find hilarious. So whenever she showed up, it was trouble and temptation for him.
It’s pathetic that I can help with details like this, but can’t find my car keys LOL.
@pite… the only thing i know about lust is when i pass a billboard with a picture of a Big Mac on it… as for the ‘adult’ world… i can live without it. i blush during love scenes, i couldn’t stand when charlie sheen used to always be in bed with girls on 2 and 1/2 men, and i even fast forward through make-out scenes during a Lifetime movie… WHEN I’M ALONE… i’m a repressed preacher’s kid… Little House on the Prairie is more my speed. when i used to watch True Blood it only took about ten minutes an episode bc i fast forwarded through all the sex.
@mrsjoecool… it’s not my fav drama-ish show either… but it’s good and keeps me interested… and i love the homes and woods and costuming/make-up… v impressive.
@zerocool… never forget, your keys are where you left them last… unless you take Ambian… then they might be in your car ignition. (true story).
@zerocool — Thank you! I remembered that they were involved, but nothing else. Now there must be a simple way to get to all the Grimmcaps that I’m overlooking. My old convoluted way won’t work now. =(
@Madelyn27 — You are too funny.
Much appreciated!!! You rock Madelyn!!! I’m late to comment, so I just want to gush over you!!!
I feel, if they had made Borliette more of a bad ass cheater and deceiver, it may have been more fun and delicious (and perhaps more shirtless) That said, as much as I like me some scantily clad hot mens, I too, cannot stand love scenes. Queer as Folk just killed it for me, and the L word didn’t help either . . . even when I listen to audio books, I just can’t stand the cloying, supposed to be sexy scenes . . . UGH!!! I think the shades of grey books would be the death of me!!!
But, if I have to watch Love Scenes, for whatever reason, I do prefer forbidden love affairs and things, esp with good chemistry.
Do you think Bitsie is depressed, or maybe on pills for depression . . . she reeks of it!
Have an awesome holiday season! Good to see some comments on up in here!!!
xoxo
