Grimm Recap: Teeth Bad… Coma Good

“How tall are you?”, “I don’t know, how tall is your fridge?”

Monroe and Rosalee stop by Nick’s house and they smell something fishy… it’s just Scarface. Scarface senses a threat and  attacks Monroe, which pisses the hell out of Rosalee, everyone is morphing, lots of cursing. Mom can’t believe her Grimm son would be friends with a blutbad. Rosalee says Juliette is in danger, Scarface doesn’t know who Juliette is… they explain it is Nick’s (dim-witted) girlfriend who is in a coma because of a Hexenbeast. But never fear, they have a  potion, but it takes 16 hours to cook it. Monroe confesses that Nick’s mom is frightening. I agree.

Oh Monroe, Rosalee will sleep with you soon enough.

Ugh, time for the token Juliette’s moment as Captain Renard visits her in the hospital, taking a peak into her black eyes.

This is what I would want to wake up to after a nap.

Scarface finds a picture of Nick and Juliette and looks at it like she has a human emotion. Nick is pouting about not having his mom for 18 years. She claims that she’s been working on finding the people responsible for killing his father and her friend, plus she had to mislead Secret Orlando, Dragon’s Tongue all wanted the coins, and she had to help the Royal Families regain control. (I’m lucky to get one load of laundry done a week.) She had heard that a Grimm had the stupid coins and that lead her to Nick. She says the sooner he gives them to her the better. (Yeah, because that plan doesn’t sound like it may have a bad ending.)

I miss Hank. And I never really liked him that much.

Captain Renard storms into Catherine’s house demanding to know where Adalind is… but Catherine said she doesn’t know (you’ll remember Catherine denounced her last season when Adalind was stripped of her powers). Renard knows Adalind is responsible for Juliette’s coma, and if Juliette dies, then Nick might leave Portand and Renard wouldn’t have him under his watchful eye.

**yawn**

Juliette is having a dream. It’s about Nick lying (I’ve had those dreams about men too ), and then his face melts away. Nick might actually be in the hospital room during this dream, I can’t tell and I refuse to watch the episode again. But it would be nice if he was there, seeing as it’s his fault she’s in a coma. But I loved his earlier logic that he didn’t want to go to the hospital because “he couldn’t do anything for her there”… Nice, Nick… she’ll be thrilled to know you somehow managed to keep working while she was lying on her death bed.

Hey guys!!! It’s Hank. And he’s lost it. Guess seeing Monroe turn into a blutbad shook him a bit. So he’s sitting on the ground, in a pose I call “the rape victim”… kinda curled up, shoving pills down his throat, and jumping at every sound.

It's never too soon. It's never too far. And it's never the wrong time.

I appreciate that someone is recapping Grimm, but I truly miss the recapper ( SG ) from season one. It just seems as if this recapper really doesn’t care for the show and not really interested in anything that involves any sort of continuation. The coins of Zaynthos must be destroyed on the island on which they were forged. They figured in several episodes of season one. The Mauvais Dentes ( sabre tooth wesen ) is the “cat” in the cat and mouse game. Mama Grimm mentioned that they were cruel and enjoyed toying with their prey. I do appreciate the delicious side bar and appreciation ( on very different levels ) of both Renard and Wu. I would hope that a little more effort in glancing at a rerun or maybe going to NBC.com and looking at the recaps for wesen names and the mythological geography. I don’t want to appear unappreciative of ANYONE that puts in the effort to recap for TVGASM. Grimm is one of my all time favorite shows and I love it for the camp factor that lends itself to such exquisite snarkiness that I do so love.

You’re absolutely correct in that I didn’t do enough homework. But it is not for any dislike of the show, but limited time. When I watched season 1, I never thought I’d be recapping the show, so I didn’t pay as much attention, and when I was assigned this show last week, I didn’t have time to rewatch all the episodes or read past recaps.

But hopefully you’ll stick with me, help me out when I get names wrong, and maybe even have a couple of laughs. I’ve been doing alot of reading today and hopefully will be more caught up with the storylines next week.

I am new to the show, but officially addicted. Enjoyed the recap, M, love the gory details, appreciate the sarcasm.

I loved when Monroe was like Dude your mom is kind of a bitch! I’m not sure if I like Nick’s mom or not, but I cannot stand Juliet.

–Madelyne– I am in for the long haul. Looking forward to reading more and will do what I can to help a little. The fact that you are ACTUALLY recapping and I am just living vicariously through your words, humbles me. It is always fun to see if other find the same things as funny as I do when they slip in the throw away lines…

I don’t know if Renard is supposed to be the villian of the story or not, but I absolutely love him. He’s just so………yum. I have a hard time following what’s going on with the story, too, because if Renard or Monroe aren’t on the screen, I tend to get distracted. Hopefully, this season will have more of a mytharc than last season’s Wesen-of-the-Week, and I’ll HAVE to pay attention. I’m looking forward to it!!

Hi M, I’ll take “Batsht crazy” for $500 please!

I love this show, have watched from first episode but this one? Ummmm…. Did we go to college together because my brain cells seem to have gone the same way as yours. I got lost. I got confused.

Now, I agree with your assessment of mom – seems like a lying bitch to me – and will keep watching. Plus… I plan to hang with you on the recaps! I laughed a few times and began to wonder if all us moms pull that face from time to time? ; ) Thanks for doing this!

Here I thought you were calling her “Scarface” because she played Tony Montana’s sister.

Because I totally forgot about the actual scar on her face. Derr.

I don’t think the WRITERS have decided if Renard is truly good or evil yet. But he is aptly named: Renard is French for fox.

As for Julilet, now that she is losing her memory, it would be fun if when she wakes up, she gravitates toward evil. Then maybe Nick will have to kill her and we’ll be rid of her albatross of a character.

Oh…and that isn’t a “sceptor” on the wall. It’s a scythe…and represents the reapers who appeared in multiple season one episodes.

Yes. A scythe, thank you. Do I get points for knowing it was an “S” Word? (which reminds me of an old SNL/Sean Connery/Jeopardy skit.)

I’ve been studying all things Grimm all night. Next week that show will be my btch. (maybe)

Lol Yes…points for knowing it was an “s” word.

Since we all seem to be in agreement on our dislike of Juliette, let’s speculate on how they can A.) improve her and/or B.) get rid of her.

Seems to me that having Juliette go over to the “dark side” could be VERY interesting. I mean, she’s a vet, right? Most of these characters have probably required the services of a medical professional on occasion. It could get interesting if Nick hurts ‘em and Juliette patches ‘em back up! Just a thought along the ‘make her more interesting’ lines!

The most interesting thing she could do, in my opinion, is wake up, come home, cook a dinner, and half-way through, when Nick gets a phone call that he has a case, she would flip the table over like Theresa on RHONJ and scream “I’m outta here.” And just leave. But that’s just me… and probably what I would do…. except not “cooking dinner”, more “ordering dinner”.

But Juliette and mom might be fun to watch. As long as it goes badly.
