We return to the red kitchen where Robyn is being a bitch. Kimmie thinks she’s still holding a grudge from the earlier challenge. When Robyn asks Kimmie to let her know when she can start walking with the food, Kimmie tells her that she’s slicing the steak and it will just be a few seconds. Robyn just keeps repeating, “Can I walk? Can I walk?” No, Robyn! Shut up and listen for three seconds and you’ll hear that Kimmie told you that she needs just a second.
Gordon is obviously unhappy with something that both Robyn and Kimmie sent up. Robyn is excited because she thinks that Kimmie is about to get yelled at. “Get the popcorn, because it’s about to get good.” I then enjoy my popcorn as Robyn is called out for sucking. She is called out for how terrible her steak is cooked and sliced. Kimmie is told her fillet is cooked beautifully.
I bet popcorn goes great with humble pie.
As Kimmie and Robyn start over on their order, Patrick is trying to impress Gordon with his second attempt at rib eye. Patrick tries to give himself a pep talk. He knows that he’s a special chef. He’s special in the sense that he gets to take the short bus to the kitchen each day. Patrick presents his second attempt at steak and it’s deemed adequate. I wish these chefs would stop celebrating when it takes them two tries to cook something like steak.
When Gordon gives an order to the blue team, Royce doesn’t even bother to acknowledge it. With that, Gordon makes him repeat the order several times. Royce being embarrassed never gets old. Then Patrick proves just how special he is by screwing up the order that he just heard Royce repeat no less than four times. And Patrick is kicked out of the kitchen. As he leaves the kitchen, the best little kid EVER appears on screen.
I agree 100%, kid.
Patrick can’t believe that he fucked up like that. He obviously hasn’t been paying attention for the past few episodes. I think he’s really the only one who was surprised by him screwing up. In a bold move, Patrick asks Gordon if he can come back to the kitchen. This never goes well. Surprisingly, Gordon tells Patrick to get back to the meat station. Holy shit! Is Gordon going soft on us?!?!?!
In the red kitchen, Robyn and Kimmie are hoping that their second attempt is up to Gordon’s standards. Thankfully, the steaks are perfect and are sent out to the table. The ladies move on to their second table. Gordon wants them to speed things up. I’m actually surprised by them tonight. Yes, they fight a lot, but they always seem to pull it together when it’s time to actually cook. Even Christina gets in on the drama tonight! Robyn and Kimmie don’t communicate with her about running the food up to the pass.
Maybe there is something to the theory that women “sync up.”
Robyn is (surprise!) pissed off because Kimmie told her to run up the fish. Kimmie makes a good point when she says that Robyn has to talk to Christina as well. Robyn puts on her tin foil hat again and thinks that Kimmie and Christina are trying to sabotage her. I don’t know about any of you, but I didn’t see any sabotage at all. Robyn only asked Kimmie if she was ready. She never once communicated with Christina who was also working on the order. It’s your own damn fault, Robyn.
Of course, Robyn gets called out for her dry fish. (My God, that last sentence sounds dirty.) Gordon says that the fish has more wrinkles than he does. Wait a minute. Gordon is only 44? I thought he was older than that! I don’t mean that as an insult. I will 100% admit that I have a crush on that beautiful man and probably will even when he’s 84. I just always thought he was older.
I would definitely not kick these wrinkles out of bed.
Back int he kitchen, Robyn tells Gordon that she cooked the fish only three minutes ago. If she did cook it three minutes ago, then she royally screwed up the fish. Fish doesn’t dry out like that in only three minutes. Robyn then says she cooked the fish seven minutes ago. Gordon still doesn’t believe her. Kimmie is really growing on me this episode. She is the voice of reason when she says that you’re an idiot to lie to Gordon. When did she suddenly become kind of awesome?
First I hate you, then I love you. Stop toying with my emotions, Kimmie.
In the blue kitchen, Gordon is quizzing Patrick on the next order. Patrick gets it right. Yay! Patrick possess the ability to remember simple things! Brian thinks Gordon is getting on Patrick’s case because “he sees a lot in him.” No, Brian. I think Gordon is all over Patrick because he wants someone competent to work for him. Patrick slices three steaks and the last one is under cooked. While we’re waiting for Patrick to finish his last steak, we need to talk about this plating:
Seriously? No one thought this was a bad idea?
