Homeland Recap: Hell Hath No Fury

Mike rolls up to find Jessica standing on the lawn, Lauder passed out on the kitchen table and the phone jangling with Brody finally calling back. He must have a sensor set to go off when Mike appears at his house.

“We’ve got one of those”

Jess is not impressed with Brody’s late offer of help and tells him not to worry about it and not to come home. Mike is, as usual, stuck taking out the trash.

“I miss when coming over to do favors including a thank you bj”

The surveillance guys are loving the dirt and Mike is loving that things are falling apart for Jess and Brody and Lauder is loving stumbling around the yard trying to accuse Brody of knowing something about Tom Walker.

Dana and Finn are studying in the Veep’s house. They are talking about old Tommy J and his crib Montecello when the blowhard current VP comes in to tousle some heads and rib his son on being bad at school. The VP says his son is a fan of “the gentleman’s C”, but will still be Ivy League bound.  Dana’s father is a terrorist so she’s not really intimidated by his WASPy condescension and tells him that Finn does pretty well in school and things are a little tougher these days on rich white dudes than it used to be back in the Veep’s day.

“I’m going to have to accelerate my plan if I want to bone her before she gets me grounded”

The VP laughs it off and takes a parting shot at Brody being MIA the night before. Both kids decide that parents are the worst and head out for adventure instead of studying dead presidents.

At the control center, the team is covering all the people Brody talked to that day. Carrie pulls Virgil aside to ask him to check into Peter, his story of being an analyst assigned to Venezuela is not adding up for her. Maybe she just wants confirmation on the ER nurse. Then a lurking Estes approaches to eat some crow and give Carrie her due. She is gracious and that had to be a big moment for them both. They start talking about sorting the contacts by racially profiling the Middle Easterners. It’s the best way to parsing the data, but I bet that car wash guy is going to have a bad week! They let Estes know following Brody will be easier now that he is camped out in a hotel due to marital strife..

“Ah, you mean the ‘Carrie Effect’?”

Estes and Saul head out – Saul to an apartment since his house is rented out, I guess that means his wife is still in India – and Carrie and Peter are left alone to stalk.

MrsMiaWallace is an east coast girl with a  penchant for travel, libations and great cuisine. She is not known to turn down a mimosa or a martini and finds the transition between the two a good way to mark the passing of time since she can never remember to wear a watch. Her secret love for reality tv and addiction to Bravo have drawn her like a moth to the glittering snark of TVGasm,  where she finds there are others like her... hopefully also nursing Bloody Marys.

This is a great recap and pretty dang funny.

I was pretty surprised by the ending, too. I don’t know why she chose that route? She relies on her gut instincts so I guess that will be her excuse. What is the deal with that new guy?

This show is so implausible but the acting is awesome. I love it.

    Great recap !
I knew she was going to confront him when she came to his hotel door. I kept yelling, NO, but there she was. I thought maybe they would let it play out and get a confession to turn him or have him call his contact. I have no clue how they are going to play this out. I don’t want Brody to disapear from the show. I have to say that I also like Peter. Great line when he asked how many times do you have to tell her something…and Saul said..many.

Amazing ending to a pretty good episode! I’m with JKW, I knew she was going to do something crazy and blow her cover when she knocked on his door. It would take a hell of a lot of loyalty to your agency to sleep with your terrorist ex in front of your co-workers, and Carrie obviously has multiple axes to grind with both Brody and the CIA.
