Carrie appeals to Saul that neither of them may trust present-day Carrie, but they both loved old-school Carrie and that’s the one that recruited and earned the trust of Fatima. That Carrie would totally be all over this opportunity! Now I’m almost hoping they don’t do the mission and prove her right rather than go and have more proof that she’s a loony!
We see Estes take the call from Saul saying the operation is a go. Oh lord, how much lower can Carrie sink if this fails? Will they really kill Abu and if so what happens to Brody? Will a successful mission reinstate her in the Agency? I love this show!

We cut to Brody’s office where he is failing at even the legit covert stuff and frantically searching for his car keys. His secretary is curious where he’s going (secretmeetingwithDoD) since nothing is on his calendar. Turns out he was supposed to hang out with his old buddy Mike. The only way to solve this is to give Mike a lift on his way.
“Hey, remember when I used to bang your wife?”
This seems to be more than a social visit as Mike brings up the investigation of Tom Walker’s death. Although he was ruled a lone sniper Mike and the rest of the platoon feel this theory doesn’t hold water to anyone who was in his company with him. Walker missed the VP three times using a rifle that would’ve made that work child’s play for someone of his skill.
Brody tries to discredit a larger conspiracy by mocking the alcoholic platoon mate who is the main voice raising suspicion and invoking the Illuminati and Free Masons.
“Can we just go back to talking about my wife?”
Mike asks Brody to use his position and access to make some inquiries and Brody agrees.

We head to the control room where Estes’ team has video on the ground and sniper positions in Beirut. The team is tense and ready for what comes next.
They are conferenced in and things are tense in Beirut as well. So Carrie takes this opportunity to ask Saul why he never called. Just like a woman. Turns out her therapist thought talking about terrorists wasn’t helping her move past her terrorist obsession. Stupid shrinks. They also reminisce about past missions together and I feel for Saul. I also hope for his sake she is right this time.
Just then Brody shows up and is briefed by the VP and invited into the situation room to observe the mission. Oh, now I know why it will fail and Carrie will be discredited! Obviously you can’t take out Nazir or Brody will lose his motive, but I hate to see her further ruined.
“Hey, you guys aren’t killing my best friend are you?”
If you like it, spread it!:

I got my boyfriend to watch Season 1 a couple of weeks ago, which he finished in 1 week. Last night at the end of the show, this is what you heard in my living room:
Me: “OH, SNAP!!”
Him: “FUUUUUUUCK!! I can’t wait a whole week!”
Which pretty much sums up every episode. I love this show!
I watched season one marathon style a few days before season two began. Having to wait a week between episodes now is killing me!
In other news, your recap is awesome, and I can’t imagine it’s at all easy to recap such an intense show with such dark subject matter. Keep up the good work!!
As for the episode… The last scene of Saul and the video were jaw dropping. Here’s hoping he keeps the under wraps for long enough to actually nail Brody…no giving anymore hints while drunk in parking lots or on secret trips to the woods, please. I assume the person Brody texted was the reporter chick, but assuming a) a junior congressman would even be allowed in that room in the first place, b) be allowed to bring a phone in, and c) successfully send a text (I find it hard to believe secret Pentagon rooms are wifi hotspots), HOW did said text make it through the multiple handlers probably required to relay a message to Nazir himself. I’m pretty good about suspending disbelief for the sake of a great plot, but this really pissed me off. There had to have been a more believable way of allowing for a Nazir getaway.
The scene with reporter chick proves Brody isn’t as conflicted as he pretends. All the bullshit about being a representative and texting next to the joint chiefs…this was his out of he truly weren’t on board with Nazir.
Here’s hoping Carrie somehow teams up with Mike and Lauder to get to the bottom of some things.
“What’s going on. Who are we trying to kill?” Says Brody..like he walked in late after the movie started… Seriously????? Sending a text from a cell phone that my grandmother uses? ??? C’mon writers, we are smarter than this…aren’t we?
