Kitchen Nightmares Recap: Olde Crazy

By BlueCanary | | 11:39 am | 3 Comments

Relaunch night! Gordon has apparently duct taped Tom to the water heater or something, because Andrea is running the place on her own. Oh, there’s Tom. He’s just kind of working the front of the house and silently judging the kitchen, mouth closed. Everything comes to a halt though, when Gordon catches RAWR salmon trying to slip past.

Rules #1: Don’t try to slip RAWR anything past this guy. Does no one else watch his shows?

He yells at the staff for her, and Andrea gets it together. Tom manages to keep anything negative to himself, and instead cheers for his daughter and shouts encouragement. Aw. He seems really proud, and has moved to Team Fresh Food. The rest of the service is fine, and Tom ends the night by turning over the restaurant to his kid. They both weep and he promises to stay out of her business and let her run the place into the ground on her own time. Aw again! Gordon congratulates him on his change of heart, and congratulates the team on their success. The rest of the staff cries with happiness, probably because Tom will no longer be their boss. Yeah, we’ll see how this plays out in the revisit episode. Gordon peaces out, still lamenting the frozen meatloaf.

According to the recap, the place is doing fine. Join me next week to see a pair of siblings ripping each other’s hair out and running a hideously filthy slop house right into the ground. Thanks for reading!

BlueCanary is as unorthodox a blend of optimistic and bitter, laid-back and anxious, motivated and straight up lazy tas one is likely to meet outside an unspecified institution. She spent the past decade holding a variety of job titles, including reporter, tech writer, production manager, and administrative assistant (the go-to job in this economy for folks who just HAD to get that English degree). She is currently living under the tiny yet powerful thumb of an awesome, pint-sized little dude, who wets himself and can't form full sentences (read: stay at home mom). Another tyrannical little thumb is gestating in her womb. She is a regular on The Neutral Corner podcast and blogs at www.mamamuzzle.com.

So great to have you back BlueCanary! FINALLY new episodes of Kitchen Nightmares. We were in limbo for a while there. I was really shocked that this guy “changed”. I said to my boyfriend, “This dude is f-ing nuts!” with the fresh vs frozen debate. but then a few words and all is fine? Seems like fishy editing to me. Ah well. I hope the dude really did back up off his daughter and at least let her try. I was pretty happy with the episode. I loved Carla’s terse look when she had to tell him things were fresh when she knew damn well that they were frozen.

    Hurray!!!!! Meatloaf maracas–bbwwaahaaahaaa–brilliant.
I love this show–the BBC version is awesome–only word you can’t say is “F@*&”

I wonder too Badger how Tom “changed his mind” so suddenly and handed over the keys to Andrea. I am on pins and needles for the follow up. Why am I thinking Andrea wont even be married to Spyros anymore????

ps–next week looks awesome–the brother and sister slobs!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like a 2 pinot pint night
