Payson and Rigo are practicing her floor routine and he tells her he likes it but can’t articulate anything. In walks Sasha who critiques her entire routine while she watches him in shock. She asks him what he is doing there and he explains that Rigo called him in for help. He tells her that she is crazy and could risk her spot on the team for going against Mac. Payson tells him that she didn’t fight all these years for a free trip to London. Sasha tells her that he would actually like his medal back but knows he won’t get it until she wins her own so he agrees to help her start training the new routine.

Sasha is back and he wants his medal.
Kaylie’s parents arrive for a meeting with Marcus, Annie and Coach where they learn that she has tested positive for banned substances. Kaylie of course denies taking anything even for a cold and that there is a mistake but Marcus tells her that there was no mistakes. He suggests that the drug is even used as an appetite suppressant. Alex takes offense and accuses Marcus of having an agenda ever since Kaylie went against their wishes and came out with her eating disorder. He demands a retest but the NGO doesn’t allow for extra tests so he says that they need to change the rules. Kaylie asks what this all means and she learns that she cannot compete at trials and she is out of the running for the Olympics. Kaylie doesn’t even get as upset as her dad and walks away saying no…Josie is a terrible actress and I won’t miss seeing her every week to be honest.

She looks so sad right?
Mac sits down with the rest of the girls and tells them that it’s been quite the day with Kaylie getting disqualified and Keegan getting arrested but that this is not the time to ask questions. He tells them that physically they are prepared and now they need to prepare mentally for the trials. So you know how much I love Wendy and her scheming? She just upped it a notch by basically confessing to the girls that she had a part in Kaylie’s disqualification. She tells the girls that it sucks about Kaylie but she knew she was getting too thin and blames herself for not saying anything. She goes on to say that her thinness was the reason why she was making all those smoothies for her and then walks away smiling. Lauren is annoyed by her and says it is because she reminds her so much of herself which is totally true but I don’t think even Lauren hit cray cray level. Lauren has an idea to help Kaylie and enlists Jordan and Payson to help.

warmer…warmer..
Lauren’s idea is to uncover Otis because she believes rubbing him helped her when she was in the hospital. She finds a spot with the same flowers that Jake gave her earlier and explains that it is the only spot on campus where they are located. Kaylie thinks the plan is stupid and it won’t help her get back on the team. She explains that she thinks they disguised him because Jake mentioned that Otis went deep undercover. She starts looking around and figures out that they didn’t bury Otis, the drowned him as he is hiding under some rocks behind a waterfall. She uncovers him with Payson’s help (and a slight fall backwards into the water) and tells Kaylie and Jordan to rub him for luck.

On any other show he would have a knife in his hand.
Kaylie, being the brat that she is, tells the girls that she is glad they found Otis but that this isn’t a game. She says that she knows Otis doesn’t bring luck and that they know it to before walking off. She’s packing in her room with her Farrah Fawcett hairdo when Austin walks in to apologize for being a dick to her and blaming her for all his shortcomings. Kaylie asks if she should feel bad for him and he tells her no but he is sorry for everything he said to her because he didn’t feel worthy of her and he was embarassed. He tells her good luck at trials and walks off but before he leaves she tells him how she is not going to trials because she failed the drug test.

We’ll give up our dream for Kaylie…logical thought process.
If you like it, spread it!:

SG, Nice way to end the series!! I wish they would have gone maybe one or two more episodes…It would have been nice to see a couple more episodes where it was just the girls, and not the gymnastics part.
Yay for Lauren finally coming around. Sure it took all of the series, but I am glad she finally grew up!
I also liked all the leo’s in the epi except for the one that they put on Ayla/Payson. That full on red did the girl no justice! I like the shiny material, not that felt looking stuff.
Yay for Kellie Parker
What the hell am I going to watch next week at 9pm? Sure as shit won’t be the Bachelorette!
I would have loved just a little blurb over the shots of each of the girls about how they did at the Olympics. Pretty decent send off to the show nonetheless. Thanks for the recaps this season!!!
I felt like they tied everything up fairly nicely considering the amount they needed to cover in one episode. I agree with Casey—it would have been nice to get some sort of epilogue/text about the Olympics outcome. I actually care more about what they go on to do with the rest of their lives, though.
I got so excited when Kelly Parker showed up and was standing with the girls supporting them!
For once, YES, LAUREN!! I never thought I would say that. Better late than never I guess.
Great job with these recaps, SG! Absolutely fantastic! So sad that it is over. They had a good run, though.
I was pleasantly surprised how they finished everything up nicely. It was funny how the 5th girl was someone no one ever heard of before. Also I remember the Atlanta Olympics they had 7 girls biecause it was the Magnificent 7. So wonder why only 5?
After Lauren wins her gold medal she has a great career in detective work! I loved how she figured it out!! You can’t sneak a sneak.
@April
The FIG (international gymnastic committee) lowered the gymnastic team participants from 7 to 6. But now this year they are lowering it to 5. This way you need more all arounders and not so many specialists. That’s why the Chinese beat us last time. All the bar workers they had were amazing and the bars could rack up the highest score of all the events. Lol it’s called code-whoring. Can’t do that so much anymore.
My daughter was a gymnast for 9 years before she switched to dance, so I know alot of useless gymnastics info lol.
Kaylie has a brother. I forget his name but he was in like 2 episodes in the first season. I think they hinted something could happened between him and Emily but I can’t remember.
and of course I just noticed I only read the first page. I was wondering why it seemed so short
I tried to ignore it when these supposedly elite athletes drank crap at constant parties, stayed out late, went on road trips ignoring their diet, ran around in high heels, and basically violated every rule of athlete discipline. But the last straw was Payson putting on strappy heels and dancing two days before Olympic tryouts. What? Her feet would be a mess of blisters! Arggghhh! Reality much?
Thanks Kimmi for the info!
@SG You did an extra awesome job on this recap! Which I extra appreciated. Because I didn’t like the show itself as much as most people did.
Maybe I was just sad because it was the last episode. And in denial. But it looked like to me the writers already had 1 foot out the door. I know there was lots to tie up. But I had that same thought about where are the PSAs. Just a hashtag? Seriously? They could’ve at least put up a phone number.
We didn’t get to see near enough of the villains getting their comeuppance. Specially Evil Little Wendy. They should’ve showed her finding out Kaylie helped save her from getting child molested!
And we didn’t get to see Creepy Coach get busted or hardly anything of his face at the perp walk.
They also forgot to explain how come Evil Little Wendy didn’t just go down to the CVS and get some sudafed. I know they make you sign for it now. But she doesn’t have a fake ID?
Getting it with a credit card like that was even stupider than leaving everything out in her room.
Swapping Lauren and Kaylie around like that was good though! Now we’ll wonder if we were opposite wrong about both of them for 4 yrs!
Plus what about Payson turning into Miss Technology all of a sudden? Last week she was inventing medical equipment. And then it turns out she’s also learned about “social media”!
@Escapee I wondered about her going to the club and dancing around with high heels on too. Right before her most important day ever!
@SG I was so hoping you’d start doing a show I watch. I’m so behind in my TV viewing already. Now I have to figure out how to start watching Grimm too. Not to mention liking it.
I am glad this show is done, it was really winding down. They should do the same style of show but with ice skating. They would have two years before the next winter olympics, so it could also have an end date.
I might be wrong, but I thought that when they were announcing the final 5, each of the main girls was standing next to their gymnast stunt double. It might not be, but they were all paired up with the same sort of hair and the same height. I could see the producers doing this in the last episode to give some screen/face time to the doubles (except for all the really bad editing where it is very clear it is not the actress anymore).
What is Otis made off that it can be moved so easily? It is a huge statue, even if it was hallow, it would be heavy.
Why oh why did it had to have finished I’m about to cry love kaylie and Austin and love sasha Lauren payson and Kelly parker
