That’s pretty mean that they don’t find out until the day of the pressure test who is actually in the pressure test this time around. The contestants line up the next day to hear the results, and for some stupid reason, before they’ve said more than “the winner will not have to face the terrifying pressure test,” WH is already crying. 

The winner was….THE RED TEAM! Bastage tells Beckster that she was a boss back there, and tells DareDevil that all that stuff he said about sticking her in the coat room was purely sexual, and that she was great too. No one says shit about WH. 

Bastage tells the guys what a bad job they did at getting their food out on time. Frank tells us that it’s really his fault that his team lost. Gordie asks him if they gave him a safe pass to grant to anyone on his team, who would he pick? He says it’d be Josh. Gordie asks why not himself, and he lists the same reasons he gave us a moment ago. So, Gordie says… “Frank, you have the ability to save one person on your team.” Good guy Frankie, who couldn’t believe that Josh said he wouldn’t give up his rice because his mom taught him better….

LOL see y’all sucka’s later!!!!

WTF Frankie took the free pass?!? Hilarious.

Bastage eats it up. 

Josh is pretty pissed about it. I mean, I would be, too. Why would he say he’d save Josh, and then save himself? Why not just be honest up front? 

Well, the pressure test is…filet mignon. They each get 3 steaks. There’s more irritating Wal-Mart loving. They have to do a rare steak, medium rare, and well done. Didn’t we have this EXACT same challenge last year? Or was it season one? I don’t remember. All I remember is that it happened, and it sure as shit wasn’t with Wal-Mart steaks. 

So, before the challenge even begins, BR is sweating through his shirt. They get a half an hour to do this. Josh tells us that he’s gonna beat whatever crap BR pulls out, and then he’s gonna take Frankie down. Let’s hope he focuses on knocking BR out first, huh? 

There will be blood…and not just from my rare steak, either, Frankie…

The judges pick their ponies. Bastage and TG pick Josh, and Gordie picks BR. Josh tells us that he’s not too worried, because BR will probably shoot himself in the foot anyway.

Halfway through, Bastage is impressed with Josh’s confidence, and Gordie says BR smells amazing. Maybe he said BR’s [steaks] smell amazing? Eh…

So, time to check out the steaks. BR’s are up first. His rare steak is a bit overcooked…only a little, but it is. It’s also a bit too garlicky. Josh, however, nails a perfect rare steak. It’s seasoned well, too, and Bastage is in love.

    Josh has some nerve looking at Frank as if he’d just been betrayed. He’s the Number 1 Advocated of “Me first.”
    “I’m the only one that matters.” He said he wouldn’t share rice if he had it. I believe he said “you guys are all idiots and that’s it..

    I still don’t like Becky very much, but I have to say, finally a team captain uses Christine’s strength intelligently.
    The “Team Helen Keller” comment was hilarious.

    From what I have read (Ben Starr’s blog), David has done really well in Chicago and has very positive attention from chefs in Chicago. He is also moving to Phoenix to start work on his PhD in Education this September so he cannot be an unintelligent man. I liked him in the beginning and think that they needed someone to edit into a villain once Ryan left the show.

    I am still rooting for Christine or Frank – I love their outlook and their food looks amazing most of the time.

    Looking forward to tonight’s show and the recap!

    Backstab was even more do a bitch than usual in this episode!!! Or, possibly, that huge “Olympics are on so all other TV stops” has dulled my memory. I just have problems with his attitude. I am also getting sick of WH crying. Every time she does it, I’m waiting for someone to hit her with the classic mom line – “stop that crying or I’ll really give you something to cry about!”

    Dang, sorry. I might need more coffee or something. I’m sounding a bit like Backstab myself. Sorry.

    What’s up with Monti being deaf? She’s not deaf, right? I don’t recall this coming up before.

    I thinks it’s hilarious that Frank tried to be all noble and shit with his “I’d pick Josh….” speech when he thought it was all just an academic conversation. He sure changed his tune when it turned into an actual conversation. I’m not such a fan of his.

    @timgunnsister, perhaps you know the old joke:

    Cranky-Theoretically,I’d love to help you Josh. In reality-me first. Giving someone an equal chance by sharing rice that you have to share (which Josh and 2 of the judges said they were nuts to do) is different than choosing a save when it’s offered. That’s noble stupidity. People lose pressure tests for dumb reasons or Felix would still be there. But the reason I can’t stand Josh is because he’s always saying he’s so great,David is so low, etc. and then he tries to stare down Frank for doing exactly what he and everyone else would do at this stage. He won’t admit the David already won the contest because he achieved his goal,to work in a great restaurant. And that was the high point of the show for me. For once,I was sad to see Josh stay and happy to have David go.

    KM — I don’t blame Frank for choosing safety for himself. But, I do agree with timgunnssister that it’s funny how easy it is to give lip service to selfless acts as long as it doesn’t come down to actually having to do it.

    And, let’s not forget to give a shoutout to those FABULOUS Wal-Mart steaks!!!!

    It’s funny how Frank could be all selfless when it was hypothetical situation, but when it came down to it he was looking out for himself. Sort of the same way that Josh was when he said he wouldn’t give BR the rice. (Nice consolation prize for BR though!)

    Yea, what is up with WH not being able to hear? When did this come about?

    Becky was a little more tolerable this episode, but it looks like she’ll be getting on my nerves again tonight.

    LOLOLOLOL Remember that time in the beginning of the season when Frank got a free pass to the balcony and turned it down? How the times have changed.

    I’m not mad though, and I don’t think Josh has any right to be mad either. When there’s like seven people in a pressure test, it’s easy to be chivalrous and kind.
    But when there’s only three, welllll that’s an entirely different situation. I would have done the same thing and so would anyone who really wanted that money and cookbook (the title isn’t worth shit) bad enough.
    Plus, I guess Frank figured that it would be okay to piss Josh off, because he had a 50% chance of Josh going home. No Josh = no grudge, so he was like fuck it. But maybe Josh will be the next to go…he’s been kind of lackluster since his comeback.

    Frank did what anyone else here would have done, excepting Saints, plus Josh has turned out crap and vomit looking foods too often to be up in the high horse he sits himself in. Glad for Dave he fought for himself and was entertaining and honest, go in peace BR…..

    You guys really believe that when Frank was asked that question, he didn’t even consider that they were just trying to set him up.

    I bet that whole thing was scripted just to make what was an otherwise extremely boring episode tolerable.

    Also, the only reason the blue team was even in trouble in the first place was because no one except Frank could fry bread.
