Looks like the Ladies Room at Micky’s.
Greetings, Gasmii! Hope you had a relaxing Presidents Day. This week, Ru decided to celebrate by making this an all dancing EXTRAVAGANZA! But first, the queens dish about the last elimination and drop a bunch of anvils.
Mini challenge sees the queens go back to the 70s when velour roamed the earth. Ru decides to indulge his nostalgia and sentimentality and dons an afro wig. He still manages to look totally cool and stylish. Challenge is a Soul Train-style dance off. Since Ru look so good in that ridiculous wig, he makes the queens wear afro wigs, too. As you do. Only one person is completely tragic, but Ru needs two winners. And only one is kind of a surprise.
HeyheyHEY!
So, as we know, two winners/no prize means another team challenge and, oooooh gurr. One of the winners looks to have lost her mind with her first pick, but after some raised eyebrows and head-shaking it’s just a schoolyard pick’em drama and its attendant drama.
With the teams chosen and the tension rising, the queens learn that the main challenge will be staging the “drag ballet” No RuPaulogies, and because he loves our very own PottyMouth very, very much, Ru brings in special guest choreographers Travis Wall and Nick Lazzarini. Meanwhile, most of the queens love Ru very, very much for bringing in two adorable dancing boys to distract them. One queen really shines, while another one gets taken down a peg or five and the lip synch pretty much goes as planned and then…
Ooh, no she better don’t.
Full recap in a few days. Until then, you can catch up on the last recap here.

Didn’t see that coming!
On the other hand, as soon as the bottom two was announced, I knew it would be a boring ass lip synch because I had no one to root for. Apparently, neither did Ru.
Ru and I think alike is all I have to say. I was sitting there being pissed off that they were LSFYL to Brit Brit of all people and being boring! Its Britney Bitch! Turn it out! I was yelling “Send them both home Ru!” and when she did I was cheering. Sorry about it. I thought both Honey and Vivienne are beautiful but you are boring.
Every time Alyssa makes her bitch face I just laugh. She makes it A LOT! She had the win in the bag for this one and Coco was smart to pick her. I will give it to Alyssa, she is not afraid to speak her mind.
I was flabberghasted at how much Chaz Bono no longer resembles Chastity at all! Holy Crap! Does not look like a woman at all anymore.
I wanted to jump through the screen and push them out of the way and start doing some Britney and showing them how it is done. Boo.
And my love for Alyssa is more justified each week. I really do see her in the final three.
Agreed, I spent the whole judging session in disbelief that Chaz used to be a woman. Good for him.
And that LSFYL was pathetic. The song even has it’s own choreographed dance one of them could have done. If you can make Britney boring, you do deserve to go home. It did make me sad though because Honey was starting to grow on me.
God this really is the best show on tv.
I love the record scratch sound effect lol. Watching Alaska and Sharon was so cute. SharonandAlaskaforever!!! I wanna come to their gay spooky wedding!
Jinxx is really growing on me too. She was the runner up in the challenge this week in my opinion. She worked it for the comedy.
You called it on Jade being the next one that everyone has it with. So good call on that. You know I actually can see with Alyssa and Coco were like best friends. They seem to think the same on things and I even see camaraderie between them a lot. So either the whole feud is fake or they are at least mending fences. Does anyone else see that?
Honey is kinda big old hippie. They are right that the San Francisco Queens are hippies.
Ru definitely made the right choice in the elimination. Neither of the bottom two queens turned it out, and there’s no excuse for it.
Also, I gotta give Coco props for picking Alyssa first because that was a very smart move. Despite all the drama, the fighting, the accusations – at the end of the day, you’re there to give a great performance. And being able to acknowledge that Alyssa was the best choice out of the bunch, and saying that she deserved the win? Good for you, Coco. Both of them are growing on me.
I loved how unapologetic Ru was about that whole thing.
She was just like, mkay both you bitches take your boring asses home, sorry about it but not really.
But it was a good call because I almost fell asleep watching that lip sync. Vivienne’s mouth was barely moving, and I don’t know what the fuck Honey was doing.
They didn’t dance or really even move their bodies at all, they just kept walking back and forth in what I guess they thought was a fierce manner?
I think they both have that syndrome that Aminat and Eugenia from ANTM had…where in their heads, they’re giving you so much fierceness, but it doesn’t actually come out in person.
Bitches need to go home and practice in the mirror.
Honey also needs Drag Jesus…bitch said the look is not important. No boo, come again.
I still am not a fan of Alyssa’s personality, but I’m not gonna lie or hate, she turned it this episode.
I was like Yaaaasssssss throughout her section. She was giving me all I needed to survive and more.
And her runway look was sparkly perfection…those lips were everything.
Next to her, Coco danced like a baby hippo with two broken legs.
Fantastic episode. Worst LSFYL ever. Half the bar I watched it in was screaming “Send them both home!” When she did, the whole place exploded into cheers and applause. Apparently they get an ipod with ALL the LSFYL music as soon as they get to LA, so there is absolutely no excuse to be boring or not know the words. I absolutely adore Alyssa and I’m so glad that she and Coco could at least work together, even if they won’t be friends anymore. Very smart of Coco to pick her. It was obvious that this was Alyssa’s to win, just like how last year’s Snatch Game was Chad’s. If she hadn’t won, it would’ve been embarrassing. She turned it out and was gorgeous! I love her faces she makes in the mirror, too.
I was pulling for Honey from the start- she is beautiful but turned out to be boring as hell! Same with Vinenne! You got to BING it…even bringin it via being obnoxious is still making an impact!
Alyssa is the queen of stank face! damn its constant!
When Honey said that in San Francisco the look doesn’t matter as much I swear I could hear the entire city *GASP* in horror.
Literal jaw-dropping last night at the gloriousness of Ru and good decision-making. Watching that LSFYL was like watching a cow chew cud – endless, placid and predictable. Thanks @Jessi for clearing up how/when they learn their lipsynch songs – I always wondered about that. Love this so so much that the only thing I hate about losing two queens is it appears to make the season shorter.
You know, as weird as it sounds, I honestly think that Honey is telling the truth about the look not being so important, because I have heard the same thing about San Francisco drag from several other queens in the scene. You would think for being such a gay mecca that it would be cutting-edge and top-of-the-game when it comes to drag, but from what I understand, drag as a performance is not the driving force in the Bay Area, most of the queens up there are involved in the Imperial Court System, which is focused more on fundraising and community involvement than doing shows and entertaining (and believe me when I say, many times the look really ISN’T important… at least, not to the queen who put it together).
When it comes to the pageant scene, it’s very rare to see/hear of a competitor from San Francsico (or even California). Texas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and even Ohio seem to dominate, and the queens who come from those states are VERY fierce (no disrespect meant to any other states, there are fierce bitches out there all over the place, but the competition seems a little stiffer in the South).
I have to say that the BF and I cheered as well, I’m glad Ru is sending a message to the queens that half-stepping it in the lip-synch will get you full-stepping it out the door. And Vivienne’s “personality” is doing her no favors at all, she just wants to be pretty, which is great, but it’s also boring. Can’t wait for the full recap, vallegirl!
love, J-Mo
Awwwww, vallegirl….you know me so well! I was indeed squeeing over Travis and Nick!! They are both super awesome (and genuinely NICE guys).
I was also cheering at Ru’s decision. I could not believe how fucking bland they both were! Sends a great message to the everyone else too.
Looking forward to the full recap!
SWAK, PottyMouth
I might have given Honey a stern talking to, and a week to work it out, as she has been okay at other times. I did laugh in Untucked when they talked about the bed sheets tho . . . hee . . .
Vivianne, what a waste . . so pretty and so dull . . .
And as good as Alyssa was, it still was kind of comical . . . is it me?
I think you are right, juddfan. Alyssa’s performance was indeed a bit comical but I also think that’s why she won points with me this episode. She doesn’t seem to take herself too seriously. When they were teasing her about the mirror faces, she just laughed along with them. I loved that entire scene! Alyssa’s in on the joke and rolls with it. Could you imagine some of the other’s reactions? *cough* Jade, Coco *cough*
Travis was so adorable and endearing. I loved watching him physically at the judge’s table. It’s like he was willing the girls to turn out a winning performance with his head nods and seat jumping. I just wanted to hug him it was so cute!
Jade would have started crying with her Eeyore self.
And I agree that Travis was adorable at judging.
I wonder if Nick was kind of mad that he didn’t get to be at panel ….on their reality show, that was always a gripe with the other Shaping Sound guys, that Travis always gets to do special things.
Another great episode. I was watching LSFYL and thinking they should both go home, never, ever thinking it would happen and THEN IT DID! Wow was that awesome! I totally agreed with the judges, Vivienne was just a pretty face and nothing more and as for Honey, those caftans were all she ever wore. Those things were a lazy-ass, “getting by” attempt to stick around for a few more weeks without having to do anything creative. Comparing her tent dresses to the designs of Ivy Winters is like comparing Project Runway to this show. Drag Race is far superior.
Loved Travis and I was totally impressed with the “ballet”. The 1st Act was better than the 2nd but over-all, I enjoyed the whole thing!
I can’t wait for the full recap!
Knowing just how little Alaska knew, I thought she did really well! As fun as it is when contestants think they’re amazing at something but they’re not, I love when one proves themselves as being as good as they say they are. Alyssa danced beautifully and Coco was smart to put aside her feud (I’m still pretty sure she’s the one who won’t let it die, Alyssa seems to want to just put it all behind her). She knew that Alyssa could really dance and she’d be an idiot not to use that knowledge to her advantage.
I was also thinking during the lip sync, “How can you choose? They both suck, send them both home!” and was amazed when that’s exactly what happened!
All in all, I was pretty impressed during this episode. I thought having them do ‘ballet’ was going to be a hot mess and most managed well enough. I shouldn’t underestimate the girls so much!
Oh no she betta don’t… but i’m glad she did ! And from now on I’ll pretend this lipsynch never happened.
I had so much hope for… some random queen after she took Serena down a notch in the first episode and then… zzz.
And Honey Mahogany seems like a nice girl but she vaguely reminds me of Milan (that is not a compliment) so I was not sad to see her go.
@J-Mo – thanks for the input on SFO drag.
I guess I just prefer my queens (as well as my drinks) to be over the top.
Yeah being from Sacramento (which is close to SF and I go there enough as is) SF drag is more about the performance and what you wear and look like is secondary. Lots of gender fuck, club girls, and not about the glamour. That’s why Honey was the first one from SF on the Race since Ru tends to like the glamour and pretty queens.
I just finished Untucked last night, Honey looks like a young Robin Roberts . .. is it me?
I have a feeling we will not get a less episode but during one elimination Ru will decide to keep both Queens and eliminate no one most likely. She likes to do that.
I pulled a Latrice Royale at the club this weekend. I was dancing and had these big hoop earrings on and they got pulled out and beads went everywhere. I know how Latrice feels now. It is embarrassing and upsetting because you just lost your damn jewelry!
This season started with 14 instead of 13 so they were scheduled to have a double elimination…then bring a queen back and boot her the same episode…then maybe have another three part finale. There have been enough WTF? lip synchs that Ru decided to just throw that hammer down without people expecting it. Keep it fresh, Ru.
But PM, the FIRST thing I thought of when I saw Travis was you! Then I thought “Where’s Hugh?”
And JMo – thanks for the pageant background. Seems like the bigger the city, and the gay scene, the less likely it is to have a big pageant scene. But I’m just talking like a mouthy dilettante. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
Get outta mah head, vallegirl! When watching I totally thought “Now all Ru needs to do is get Hugh on and my life will be complete”.
