Don’t look Shannel in the eye. She’ll eat your soul.
This week on Drag U, the queens have to make over nerds. Yay! I like nerds. I am a nerd. Nerds are good people. They’re what hipsters aspire to be. So this week was going to have three women who were all likeable in their awkwardness.
First is Kristy, who is working with Pandora Boxx. She’s a theater geek who lost some of her pizzazz from all the rejection she got from auditions. FYI, Kristy, I just saw Mark Ruffalo on Graham Norton and he logged over 600 auditions before he booked his first job. During that time he smoked a lot of weed. And now he’s the Incredible Hulk. There’s a moral in there.
Next is Shanté, who’s with Jujubee. She’s a comic book nerd who has gained 100 pounds and is very self conscious about it. But in true nerd fashion, speaks about it like she’s giving an anthropology report. She’s also very beautiful and about 6’3”. Oh, and she wears suspenders to hold up her jeans.
Finally, there is Dylan, a zombie nerd who’s working with Delta Work. She’s also a very sad young woman whose mother kicked her out of the house two years earlier when she dropped out of college. She’s very anxious and emotional the whole time but Delta is very kind and patient with her. It’s too bad we didn’t see much of this Delta during her season.
Candis Cayne is the Dean of Dance this week and she chooses the best Madonna song, ever, Burning Up. If only Madonna had quit while she was ahead she might not look like Robert Carlyle today. Robin Givens is the visiting professor and, well, the only thing scarier than Robin Givens is Robin Givens in a hyper-nice mode. She was so aggressively supportive of everyone I thought her neck would snap.
But something was definitely off about this episode’s pacing. I noticed it during the Orientation and it just kept on through until draguation where production pulled a stunt that, while everything worked out for the best, it very nearly didn’t.
Then with three very deserving options, the right woman won!

Sorry to say really don’t care for Drag U, I LOVE Drag Race. Wish Ru would do that twice a year instead, jes sayin!
Valle, the whole episode, all I could think was . . . “Who is Valle rooting for? Will she be happy about the Tweest!? Will the Tweest predict the winner, and will Valle be happy about it!?” . . . I’m not even kidding.
I thought they all did pretty good this time, and I wasn’t surprised to hear “Hairspray” uttered about the broadway diva. It was refreshing to see some contestants who could pick up some choreography.
; )
Heh. I had not dog in this hunt because I liked all three and they all performed more or less on the same level. But the “tweest” (heh) did have that curveball thrown at her, so I’m glad she triumphed.
