Mob Wives Recap: Brunching and Brawling Mob Wives Style

He basically breaks it down as it is disrespectful to him to have Renee bash his dad. He knows what Junior did was wrong, but he still wants a relationship with his father and his mother should respect that. But, Renee is too emotional to see past her own blinding rage and won’t hear anything that AJ has to say about how he is feeling. I say this every season, but Poor AJ. He really would have been better off being raised by gypsies or German Shepherds or something.

It’s Big Ang (Yay!)! We are at her house when we get our introduction to Love. Yes, I know that ‘Love’ is a stripper name. Or, that ‘Love’ is the name a former prostitute (or current prostitute) might use in an effort to go straight. But, I kind of (kind of) like Love.

I can honestly say though, that it is NOT because she is Big Ang’s friend. I personally think Ang can do better in the friend department. I kind of (kind of) like Love because she is willing to admit to multiple counts of attempted murder on television. I don’t in anyway condone murder. I just laughed out loud (a little) when she said that she stabbed an ex in front of his mother and didn’t look the least bit contrite even as she says it was horrible. It was as though she were saying, “hasn’t everyone?”

I felt bad for his Ma, but he had it coming.

I suspect Big Ang and Love love each other because they share a fondness for plastic surgery and big boobs. But friendships have worked with a lot less than that in common.

Since Ang is recovering from foot surgery, VH1 gives us a gratuitous shot of her toes. Why do reality show producers think we want to see surgeries or the results of surgeries? I think I may be the only person in this world that believes that the human body is disgusting. That disgust permeates through the entire existence of a human being; being a child (snot, poo, putting weird things in your mouth and nose (my brother once put a battery in his nose and was surprised when his nose bled), having a child (there are fluids and smells involved), taking over the care of a child (children are full of snot and poo and they don’t wash their hands unless you tell them to) And then there are all of those gross things that human beings do on a daily basis.

I get that the human body is beautiful and the things it can do are miraculous, but come on! It’s gross and I shouldn’t have to see the remnants of a toenail removal or a large flap of Renee’s skin and fat being set upon a surgical table all for the sake of entertainment.

Sorry, Gasmii. I got carried away thinking about all of gross stuff that I’ve seen on television in general. Big Ang’s toes were pretty much the last straw. But, that wasn’t the point of this scene. The point of this scene was so that Big Ang(Yay!) could assure us that she is happy about AJ getting help for his drug problem and for her to play peacemaker between Carla and Renee.

Am I the only one who thinks that Jennifer Graziano is playing her hand? I loved what she did with the first two seasons (minus CousinSuckUp’s addition to the show). I thought the reunion, at least the first part, was genius. But now I feel like I am watching Basketball Wives. They are not even pretending to be following a different pattern here. Fight, meet up, talk it out, fight some more, meet up , talk it out, fight some more. The only difference is that when the women on this show claim to be peacemakers, I actually believe them, unlike Shaunie and her ilk on BBW’s. Love actually does not love Renee. Renee heard/started a rumor that Love slept with Junior and has had it out for her ever since.

PlathAddict

If there were ever a situation where in which I had to choose between cheese and chocolate, cheese would win hands down. I spend my days writing blog posts for the multi-housing industry and my nights harshly judging people who appear on reality shows. If there is the odd weekend in which I am not working, or feeling smugly satisfied about my lack of my own reality show, I will build a blog for my friends. Then, I will spend the rest of my weekend conning other friends, family members, and general acquaintances to donate their talents to help out. I am shameless in my love of free stuff, blue humor, and great or even terrible fiction. I tell my friends that I watch reality shows to feel better about myself. In actuality, I watch them because I am vastly entertained by the things people will do to be famous. When Flipit asked me to join the TVGasm family, I was honored. When he said that I would be paid in Cheetos and M&M's, I was totally in.

First I actually flinched when I saw the wooden spoon. I have too many bad memories from that.

So this beef between Carla and Renee is over AJ disrespecting another adult and the adult responded. Well first of Renee if AJ disrespected an adult who is your “child” then you treat him as such. You tell him to apologize to said adult and then you take up with the adult what was said on twitter.

I guess they keep all the ladies apart for a certain period of time so they aren’t allowed to hash out certain drama.

I get why AJ is angry that Renee is talking about his father, but if my son talked to me like that, he’d be on the floor before he finished saying \my f*cking mother\ like AJ said to Renee. When he said that my jaw droppped. Yeah your mom’s crazy….but she’s your mother. AJ might be screwed up because of his parents, but to me he is still an ass in the making. Also, if he didnt like how things went in his mother’s house, he’s 18 & could leave (just like my mother reminded my sisters and me when we were his age). Of course I teared up when I saw he said he felt let down by both his parents in the previews, because I can’t even imagine.

Now Drita? I. Love. Her. When she said Carla RIPPED Renee, I laughed. I rewound it and laughed again. They need to show more Big Ang and Drita. They’re fun together.

Carla was MAD. I loved that she gave back all she did to Renee cause it seems like Renee thinks she can say whatever she wants and everyone has to just take it and not dish anything out to her. I think that’s part of the reason Renee got as mad as she did…because Carla didn’t back down like she might have in the past.

Not sure what I think of Love, but I will say this….just because your boobs are big, doesn’t mean they’re attractive. And yes, Karen, I’m talking to you too!

Speaking of Karen, she should always wear her hair the way she had it at the bar w/Renee, Big Ang and Love. At first I thought she lost weight…until they showed her in that one shoulder top.

Yes Plath there is a difference. An addict can afford their drug habit, a junkie can not. :)

I think the light bulb turned on for Renee when Love mentioned Junior protected her from another man. Renee realized Junior wanted to sleep with her, doesn’t mean they actually did. I don’t think Love would be dumb enough to sleep with a married mob guy. She is not an outsider like Carla. And that is why Renee treats Carla as such. She is not one of them. She just married into the life. Didn’t live it. She treats Drita differently because Drita can and would kill Renee.

@Moli thanks for the welcome. Can’t wait to see what you think of this one.

@Classy – It’s great to be back. I can’t wait to dig into this season. Also, I agree with you about the way that Twitter nonsense should have been handled. But, I truly think Renee has lost her freaking mind.

@Yeknom, I also hate when kids are disrespectful to their parents. It’s one thing that I have been very vocal about since I started this particular gig. But, I also feel so bad for AJ that I can’t blame him for being frustrated in that instance. He is suffering so much more than she is and she is too engulfed in her own grief and rage to even notice.

@Labowner I thought Carla’s dad and uncle were both Mobbed up? Drita was the only one who had no mob ties in her family until she married Lee, right? I may have misunderstood that, but I seem to remember Carla’s family being part of the life and Karen and CousinSuckUp talking about how Drita just married into it.

It’s great to be back guys! I can’t wait to see what everyone has to say about this episode.

Damn, I haven’t had time to watch this yet, but I couldn’t resist the recap! So glad this is back on and so happy you are recapping, Plath! I too, was raised on the trifecta of discipline, which included the wooden spoon, flyswatter, houseshoe, and even a yard stick that was 3 yards long! Needless to say, when it splintered into pieces and I laughed, I got it even worse! I think my mom was of the mind “let me grab what’s handy and knock some sense back into this child”. Nothing like being raised by a southern mother.

I was so happy to see that this was back on….Then CousinSuckUp was on my tv and I got mad!! I don’t know if I can do another season with her and her bullshit!

I have to agree, that it was kind of weird that when Renee said she was an addict, no one said anything at all. Carla just kept on yelling. But hey, at least Renee did admit it. We all saw her loosing her shit when Junior flipped…

Great Recap, looking forward to the season!

LMAO at the ‘trifecta of discipline’. Great review as usual, PlathAddict.

Now, *cracks knuckles* I also thought that there must have been something deeper driving Renee’s rage towards Carla and I came to the same basic conclusion as you – a bit of jealousy. This whole thing about Carla saying Renee had surgery to look like here – nonsense! No matter what Renee does, she’ll still be the same dragon lady with the Spongebob Squarepants figure. Ain’t nothing changing that. Do I think Carla is completely innocent? Nope. She has questionable tase in men and she’s even admitted to being with a married man when she was young, but she’s not the corner hooker like Renee casts her to be either. I do think Renee’s sister had a lot to do with this storyline to make the first episode come out with a bang.

The good thing is the rest of the season looks to be really interesting. I’m looking forward to Carla’s tangle with Joe and his very young, new girlfriend. I’m also curious to see what happens with Karen and her family. I really feel for her daughter, not only because she found a thong in her bedroom (Lawwd) but I sense a lot of loneliness in her.

All in all, looks to be great new season of my favorite show after Honey Boo Boo (judge if you must) and yes I got a tingle when I saw the opening credits, so bad ass and I missed these women. I agree they should put Big Ang in there too, but that would mean they would have to do the same for Ramona. Hell no. Btw, looks like she better start selling those LV bags.

  13. 13
    Posted January 8, 2013 at 3:56 pm

@labowner, Like I said, I don’t remember where I read about Carla’s family connections, but I was sure they were there. I thought that was a major part of Karen and CousinSuckUp trying to turn Carla against Drita. They were using the whole “Drita isn’t one of us” bullshit. It would make sense that her family protected her from knowing though. I also agree that there were no winners in that last fight. Well, maybe Big Ang. But, that’s because I love her so much. Can you imagine if Carla had actually cut Renee? Big Ang would be heartbroken that they got blood all over her nice brunch.

@Derek, Hey boo! I have missed you too! Happy New Year!

@caligal, I’m happy to be recapping this again too! I have missed these crazy bitches. My mom was very much the Southern Mother. She kept a spoon in her purse, a flyswatter in the glove box of her big ass Buick, and her house shoes within easy reach at home. She liked to be prepared. No yardstick though. My grandma would make us pick a switch ourselves though, and Lord help us if we picked a wimpy one.

@thisbuggs4u, CousinSuckUp is bad for my blood pressure. And totally agree with Renee’s admission to being an addict being so secondary to everything else happening. It was just weird.

@Juliesf, I totally believe that this was a set up on Jennifer G’s part. The way she played Drita and Karen, and the way she played Renee and Carla last year, make me think that she is playing puppet master with her sister’s mental state again. I also completely agree with you about Karina. That poor girl does not deserve this bullshit from her parents. As for CousinSuckUp, either she is even worse of a human being than I thought or those LV bags are knockoffs and she can’t sell them to raise rent. Since her jewelry is in Texas, she better start hustling to find another guy with money if she doesn’t want her kids to have to double up on the rooms. Honestly though, I wouldn’t be surprised if those bags are real but she doesn’t see them as a way to get money for her kids. I think she is just that awful as a human being.

So, so, so excited this is back! I thought this episode was a little lack luster and I totally could have done without Karen and CSU but hopefully it will get better. That Rene be crazy!

Re: difference between addict and junkie: It reminds be of a Tshirt I once saw – I’m not an alcoholic, I’m a drunk. Alcoholics go to meetings. I think that addicts try to get help (or at least recognize they need help) and junkies just don’t give a hoot about getting help.

Either way – that would be TV I would watch! We need to get on this, stat!

@Plath, Yeah disrespectful kids make me cringe a little. Probably because I’m awiting for a flying chancla to come and hit me. But I do feel bad for AJ because he got short-changed in the parent department. I can only imagine the turmoil he’s going through because if I remember right, he was close to his grandfather who his father put away. Plus his mother is a nut job, so I do get his frustration, but still…talking to your mother that way is not cool.

@caligal, my mother’s discipline trifecta was the chancla (slipper), belt and her hand. I guess she needed to make sure she kept us in line in public too, because it’s not like she could leave her hand behind. You’d think once we all got taller then her we’d be save, but no, that little woman has a good reach and a great aim. I swear she could throw around corners.

CSU is worst than a bleeding hemorrhoid. Every time I see her I want to throw something. She really did not need to tell her kids all that info. Just say, we’re going to have to move into an apartment. It might be smaller than what you’re used to, but we’ll be fine. All the backstory to it and making it seem like the worst thing ever? Pffft…that was because she thinks it is.

Re Carla not being part of the life. I too thought her family was part of the mob she was just shielded from it more. I thought the only one who’s not from a mob family is Drita.

I also feel bad for Karina. She seems like such a sweet kid and her mother is another nut job, but a selfish one at that. Karen is all talk about how much she wants to be with her daughter because if she did, she wouldnt have left her behind. She could easily bring her to NY or just kept her famewhoring ass in AZ. Also? She kept telling Karina’s father that now that he was out of jail it was his turn to raise her, she did her part. As if being a parent is only a temporary thing or a hindrance. She makes my stomach turn as much as CSU.

@hot cawfee, right? I thought it looked nice.

All this talk of discipline reminds me of Bill Cosby’s bit about his mom throwing her shoes at him and his brother and god forbid if the shoe had a heel. I am the youngest, so by my time my brothers had worn my mom out and I got away with pretty much everything. Although I don’t think I could go much to top vandalizing our church. I digress.

Carla, you have young children. What were you thinking when you picked up that knife and then decided to drive home drunk as I am assuming you don’t drink straight OJ out of a champs glass?

Big Ang would love Leah in all her big hair, boobs and funky Italian lingo. I miss being taught a new language.

@Classy….of course I did!! WORST! MISTAKE! EVER!!!! And thank goodness for grandmothers. Mine saved my butt a hundred times!

@yeknom…my mom was worse if I acted up in public or church. All she had to whisper was “do you want to go to the bathroom?”, and I KNEW she was NOT asking if I needed to potty! She can still give me a look that says “you need to check yourself”, and I do! :-)

Or remember the guy who played Herman Munster? Fred Gwynne or something. Him in drag. Drita is my favorite. I’m gay, but I’d go straight for her. She’s more masculine than any man I could ever get. Cousin SuckUP and Karen make me scream at the TV. Carla with balls is very fun and Renee is as crazy as ever. And Love? Hell yeah! Bring on the drama.
