Deacon agrees with me and he sends her off to get him some more water.
Deacon tries a tactic I personally don’t think is all that great. He basically hits Jolene in the mommy-bone. He says Juliette needs her mom and she needs her clean. While this is definitely true, I think for rehab to work and for an addict to stop using, it has to be for themselves. Not for their kids or their husbands or their parents or anyone else. It has to be for themselves, because THEY are tired of living that kind of life.
That’s a Gollum face right there, non?
Or maybe this one is better?
Ahahhaha! Gunnar comes in to confront Avery and he snarkily says “You’re welcome,” before Gunnar can even get a word out. In Avery’s mind, they should be kissing his ass because he took an hour out of his day slinging hash or selling pot or whatever it is he does to pay the bills to do this enormous favour for Gunnar and Scarlett.
Gunnar and I have the same thought: Asshole.
Avery picks up his gear and heads out only to run into Scarlett waiting for him on the stairs.
He just pushes past her out the door. He knows he’s crossed the line but he couldn’t help himself. And frankly, ask yourselves, if given the opportunity to show your stuff, what you truly think you were meant to be doing with your life, in front of the people who could make it happen, wouldn’t you? Even if it hurt the ones you love?
One of Juliette’s fleet of cars pulls up in front of some swank rehab. CrackMom tries to crack-weasel her way out of going in but Deacon just calmly steers her towards the door. A bottle of pain pills drops out of CrackMom’s pants but those are “just for my back.”
She gets the flopsweats and tries to flee.
You can’t make me do this. You’re not the boss of me.
Oh, poor Juliette that you had this trashbag mess of issues try and raise you.
Enraged and embarrassed and just basically angry at the world, CrackMom does the only thing she can do that will make her feel better: she takes it out on her daughter. With a nice slap to the kisser.
What? No Promises Malibu? You ungrateful slut!
I’m going to be honest with y’all. I am no stranger to the beast known as addiction. I’m sure some of you out there have struggled or are struggling with substance abuse issues. But this is no way to treat your child. I’m guessing Juliette’s backstory is that there was a lot of physical and emotional abuse from Jolene. And I would bet that Jolene felt entitled to do it because in her mind, Juliette is the cause of a lot of her problems.
We all need a palate cleanse. Let’s look at CrackMom’s Gollum face again:
