Gunnar and Scarlett are hard at work on a song…if lounging on furniture and strumming and humming qualifies as work (ok, just teasing, I know for creative types, this is hard work). Scarlett and Gunnar discuss Hailey’s suggestion about Scarlett fronting a band. Gunnar is clearly flummoxed and hurt. I can practically hear the gears in his head cranking. He’s mad at Hailey but he knows he’s been paying too much attention to Scarlett. And it’s not like Hailey told off Scarlett, she presented her with a pretty good opportunity.

Rayna confronts Coleman and I like how he doesn’t waffle. He just states Teddy and Lamar started this dirty campaigning, he’s just trying to keep up. And I don’t disagree with him. I like how he’s playing hardball. And then he goes in for the kill.
If Teddy`s not having an affair, then what is he doing with Peggy…and why has he been trying to hide it
Excellent point, Coleman. And you should be sniffing out what exactly it is.
And let me take a minute to get all up in Rayna’s face for a second. She’s railing at Coleman for dragging her family into this campaign and how it’s going to end up hurting her girls. Hmmmm…yes BUT Lamar and Teddy – the grandfather and father of those kids – had no problem playing their dirty tricks. If Rayna’s family doesn’t think about the consequences of their actions, why on earth should a family friend, who’s not so much of a friend anymore? Fuck Rayna, you can’t hold a friend to a higher standard and judge their behaviour more harshly than you do your own husband and father. Chrriiiiiiiiiist!
But it’s easier to blame Coleman rather than confront the horrible choices my husband and father continue to make. Regardless of how it might affect two innocent children.
Tebow’s parents seem blandly nice and his sister is all up in Juliette’s grill as her superfan. It’s quite a pleasant family scene. Can’t wait to see how Juliette wrecks it for herself, especially as we see she is being drawn into the warmth and camaraderie of the Tebow family.
Tandy and Rayna have a sitdown to discuss the Teddy Pics. Tandy reassures her there is nothing going on with Peggy. It`s creepy how Tandy knows more about Teddy`s live and he`s been more forthcoming to her than Rayna. Gross!
Peggy waits for Teddy outside his office like some crazy Twihard. Aieeee! I called it episodes ago. That chick is fucking crazy. Paisley-Williams is fighting the good fight though. She`ll always be that sweet chick in Father of Bride and this is helping to get her out of that type-casting. It`s a good choice for her to play batshit crazy.
If you like it, spread it!:

Apropos of nothing but Hayden has weird baby-sized hands…maybe that is why Tebow likes her. HJs make his doodle look huge. Yes I used the word “doodle” I have a toddler at home. Thanks for recapping SC, I’m loving this show!
Great recap! I missed the show and after reading your recap I feel caught up. Love this show! I do like your Hailey/Avery idea!
I haven’t seen this episode yet, so I’ll have to reserve judgement on whether it will make me like Scarlett again. I love Hailey’s character and I think she’s better for Gunnar than the damsel-in-distress-on-a-pedestal fantasy that Gunnar has of Scarlet, but I can accept it if they start to seriously toughen Scarlett up. If she simply replaces Avery with Gunnar (i.e., if she simply hand the reins to a more benevolent puppet master) then I want their storyline over as soon as possible!
Oh, and not to be a party pooper (although I feel like one) but I hate the Hailey/Avery idea. She deserves waaaay better than that!
Thanks for The Kids in The Hall reference!
Loving everything about this show except for Scarlett. Her reaction to all things is tired ol damsel in distress and boring. I hope Hailey’s character gets another story line so we continue to see her.
This episode was waaay too Scarlett heavy in my opinion…give me more Juliette!
Oh and the Avery plotline was sooooooooooo obviously going to happen. Every time someone is in a band on TV they get a chance to make it big, but only if they screw over their friends. Saved By the Bell totally did this plotline with the Zack Attack 20 years ago. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take someone getting into a freak motorcycle accident to get the gang back together :p
Cornponitude…you might want to trademark that…
loved the Cheerwine product placement (its the cherry soda pop that the Revel Kings and Deacon were drinking (its obviously not wine))– of course, my 12 year old son, who was passing by the TV pointed it out–he just loves it, and it’s really hard to find in New York (we found it while vacationing in the Outer Banks, NC). We actually found it on Sunday at Fairway (the only other places we had found it were BBQ restaurants in Manhattan), and immediately bought a four pack!
Don’t like Scarlett– so freaking annoying, love Rayna and suprisingly enough, Juliette– wanted so smack Tebow’s Mom.
should have read my comment before posting– how many times can I use the word “found”– and grammar errors (it’s)– oops!
Tebow’s Mom was such a megabitch.
You can tell she is a professional megabitch too, because even while she was saying those horrible things to Juliette (who was so well-behaved and cute all episode long and didn’t deserve that shit) she kept that nice tone of voice and a smile on her face. That megabitch practices her craft.
I actually think it’s a horrible idea for Juliette to marry Tebow, but I support it if for no other reason than to see the look on the mom’s face. She and Tebow’s sister would spontaneously combust for opposite reasons.
Ew SourCake, I can’t believe that you like Juliette and Deacon together.
I like them best when they are doing the big brother-little sister thing and Deacon is being all supportive and wise. When they are sexing, I just get uncomfortable. It’s just not right.
It sucks that Gailey is over. I was really hoping that Hailey would make Gunnar forget about Scarlett, just by the sheer force of her awesomeness. But of course not. How could he forget an annoying hillbilly farce of a Who (because the Whos stood up for themselves goddamnit), when he had such a gorgeous, smart, independent, sophisticated, amazing girlfriend like Hailey?
Hailey and Avery would be such an unfair pairing. She’d be downgrading ALOT and he’d be upgrading ALOT, and he doesn’t deserve an upgrade. Plus, he wouldn’t have a career anymore, because Hailey is not gonna let him bang his manager all willy nilly.
I would not object to a Hailey and Deacon pairing.
It will never happen, but if by some miracle, it did, I would be so well pleased.
Well, hopefully Gunnar hooks up with Scarlett, realizes the actual Scarlett (as opposed to his fantasy girl) pales in comparison to the actual Hailey and he fights to get Hailey back! Of course, Hailey will have to make him work for it. But sadly I don’t think that’s where the story is going.
So I was doing some casual Nashville real estate browsing (my family and I are moving down there next year), and while I was looking, I came across this gem:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this Rayna’s house that they film at? If so, who wants to pay almost 20 million for it?
Rayna’s house is a real house located in Belle Meade, on the west side of town, Nashville’s (old) money section. And when I say “old”, I mean the country club recently admitted their first full black member. Most of the music biz people tend to live in Williamson County, which is generally Tennessee’s richest county, and is about a half hour outside of Nashville.
I really enjoy this show, I grew up there. The story of the baseball stadium downtown was a hot political topic a few years ago.
Thank you for the awesome recaps!
