Will gets in the office and sees President Camacho in his boring suit. He’s Lonny Church, he’s been hired by AWM and he doesn’t give a shit if Will throws a hissy fit. With no trump card, Will slinks into his office. He tries to swing his dick about it not being a serious threat, but Lonny still could not care less so Will goes into dick mode and grills him about his background. Three-year starter at Clemson, eighth round NFL draft pick, cut in camp, Army veteran but not combat. Will makes a joke about how much “action” Lonny saw and Lonny fires back his own barb. Will doesn’t appreciate getting called on his shit, Lonny. It makes him purse his lips and shake his wattle.
Will keeps “asking” questions and belittling Lonny while absently looking through paperwork. He gets off one cheap shot too many and Lonny finally lays it out for Will. He’s the boss of Will as long as they’re working together. Will wants to know how long that is. Until his firm locates the source of the threat…or he’s successfully killed.
And I’ll gladly look the other way when the shots ring out. Your call.
Lonny will take Will to and from work and he’ll stay with him when he goes to any unsecured location. But if the threat was on the show’s website and listed Will’s address…aren’t ALL locations unsecured? Shh. Don’t tell Lonny.
Sloan shows up and is immediately smitten with Lonny’s testosterone. Despite having two PhDs, she’s clearly never heard of “sexual harassment” and asks to poke his chest. Lonny obliges because he’ll be crossing his own lines later and she’s like a child and he’s a Christmas present. Sloan even makes sexual harassment fun on this show.
Yep. Still inappropriate office behavior.
But she’s not there to sexually harass President Camacho, she’s there for advice from Will about hosting Elliot’s show. After Will firmly establishes that he really doesn’t know or care if she can handle hosting a hard news program or about anything she has to say in general, Sloan asks how to handle the TEPCO interview. Daisuke told her in confidence that one of the reactors was causing a level 7 radiation leak and she wants some tips on getting him to say the same thing on air.
Sensing a chance to belittle a co-worker while polishing his own knob, Will tells her “there is no trick” you just don’t stop until he tells the truth. Then he speechifies about how she never asks the follow up questions and lets her guests get away with lying, then he makes the fucking drug dealer analogy, AGAIN, only this time she’s just his driver. Oh, if only she were more pompous and up her own ass like Will. Satisfied he shot enough holes in her self-esteem to fill them with the spackle of his personal bullshit, Sloan goes off saying she’s got it and Will smarms “Do you?” Dick.
If you like it, spread it!:

“Oh, he’s a personal friend of Sloan’s, continuing their streak of never researching a story when someone can conveniently have a deus ex machina personal relationship who’ll lay the entire story out for them.”
Kind of like how the Scooby gang always happens upon a mystery after being invited to visit their friend’s cousin’s mother’s cat’s friend or whatever. And if the cast of this show were the Scooby gang, Will would be Daphne.
And the President went on to assure everyone that not only would Joe end the drought, but he would fix all their other problems too, or the President would personally kick Joe’s smart balls all the way to the roof of his smart mouth and throw his smart ass back in jail.
Sigh, that’s one of my all time favorite comedies.
Anyway, the recap is great and you’re doing God’s work watching this show every week, thanks!
“I thought his head would be bigger.” Okay that’s enough. Thanks!
It would be nice to have someone that actually likes the show recap it, instead of someone who uses this as an opportunity to insult Sorkin every chance they get. Lighten up!
Maybe they did try to find someone who liked the show to recap it, but no one liked it. At least Vallegirl makes hating this drivel of a show fun.
I keep watching, hoping that I’ll like the show, but so far I just keep getting annoyed by it. And I loved the West Wing. I don’t know if it’ll work out; but I’ll give it till the end of this season. However, the recaps are awesome.
Hey newsroomFan! I’m just commenting to show solidarity because I love this show, too! As much as I love TVGasm recaps, I can’t finish any of the Newsroom ones because there is just so much that I disagree with the recapper on that it becomes very difficult to enjoy it. No problem, I just don’t read them. But I just wanted you to know that you’re not alone.
