Once Upon a Time Recap: A Whale of a Tale

Gerhardt is horrified to realize what he has done and runs off.

In StoryBrooke, Whale is telling Red that he wanted his name to stand for life.  Instead everyone associates it with a monster.  He guesses they’re right about that.  He talks about Rumpy saying that magic always comes with a price, but from where he’s sitting, science does too.  Every time he’s tried to save a life, someone else dies.

Red’s like, yeah, dude, you’re Frankenstein.  I’m a fucking werewolf.

Have you ever tried boyfriend tartare?  I have.

Red says that Regina thought she was punishing everyone by erasing who they were, but she totally underestimated how much crap they wanted to forget.  Having said that, they can’t let that stop them; Regina gave them a chance to start over.  Red wants to take it and she thinks Whale should too.

Victor says he wasn’t such a bad guy; he just wanted to bring life back.  He starts to say he shoulda brought his mom back, but Red interrupts him to say that some “Her” lady keeps calling the dude in the hospital; maybe there’s still some stuff he can fix.

We rejoin Regina and Cora in Regina’s car, heading into town so Cora can clear Regina’s goodname.  Cora makes a show of something irritating her and then pulls out the hand print we saw her looking at earlier in Regina’s house.  Regina’s not fooled.  She knows EXACTLY where that was and that Cora took it.

Please tell me you weren’t sniffing my clothes as well.

Alright, I won’t tell you that.

You are SUCH a stalker!

Don’t friend her on Facebook, Regina!  She’ll be all up in your bidness!

Cora says taking her into town to get lynched may earn Regina some points, but she’s never going to have Henry for real as long as Emma and her parents are around.  Why don’t they team up and get rid of them?

Oh mama!

OH SHIT.  That’s not going to be good.

Red arrives back at the hospital with Whale and thanks to her pep talk he is ready to save a life.  He jokes that he was just stretching his legs and then he heads off to surgery.

Over in FrankenLand Victor enters a cell containing his reanimated bro.  Gerhardt sits on the bed despondently and it looks like he hasn’t recovered quite as much as Victor had hoped he would.  He tries to reach out to his brother and gets thrown to the floor.  Gerhardt stops himself from hurting Victor though and even manages to say his name.

Oh brother

PottyMouth

When she isn't screaming curses at various dance show judges or washing her OWN mouth out with soap, PottyMouth is a proud mama to a gorgeous little boy. And yes, she knows everyone says that about their kids, but it's true when she says it. YES IT IS. Fuck you. She also laments throwing away the chance to be a trophy wife, and would like to find a rich husband so she can sit on her ass all day long and watch TV. If you are fabulously wealthy, look like Hugh Jackman (or ARE in fact Hugh Jackman), and are turned on by foul-mouthed, mature, slightly smooshy women, then she just may be the gal for you. No, no, no, and NO! I refuse to believe that Belle is lost to Rumple forever! I will not stand for it I say. Man, I feel so BAD for him and like you, cannot believe they actually went there. I must have hope that there is a way to bring her memory back, it happened once, why not again?? Oh please, please let Rumple find Bae, bring him home to find Belle’s memory restored (or at least have a plan on how to make it so), and let him have some happiness. I know he did a lot of evil things but he is my favorite and I am not alone on that.

As sad as the whole Belle thing is, I’m kind of looking for to getting evil Rumpy back for a little while. I loved how nonchalant he is when beating the crap out of someone, or telling someone he’s going to kill their whole family.

I love how Charming and Snow want to go everywhere with Emma.

Is there a chance Rumpy could be Regina’s father? I guess we’ll find out how far him or Cora were willing to go to seal deals during Cora’s episode.

I find it interesting that Whale let his father be beaten to death, despite how it would affect his brother.

Pottymouth, this was great! I hope work got a little easier. I promise I wasn’t having palpitations waiting for the recap. I do, do other things. I’m always chomping at the bit to discuss it when it is up, though. So hooray it’s here!

So much to talk about where do I even begin…

Okay, first I’m going to come right out and say I have completely jumped my August/Red ship for the the Whale/Red ship because they just seem really cute and I love the idea of Red “taming” the town manwhore.

Let’s see, okay the little things. Chip! That was terrible! Several things went through my mind it hit the wall, many of them very upset thoughts, even though this Chip didn’t talk. Anyway, the one I liked best is Lumiere saying, “sac le bleu” it seemed to fit the moment.

I think I’m going to handle this recap a little different and divide my thoughts with the characters instead of going moment by moment.

Starting with Hook. I have to say, I want to hate, a part of me will never forgive him, but then he wins me over with these lines that make me giggle obnoxiously *STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT* I want to smack that part of myself but at the same time how can I hate him when I still want him to be with Emma, because I see a lot of potential there. And even though Emma is trying to ignore it, he’s in Storybrooke and he seems like the type of guy that’s going to milk his injuries to hang around until Emma comes back. I would love to see Emma make him apologize to Belle.

Belle, poor Belle. She’s so distraught and she won’t even listen to Rumpel. This is worse than an sleeping curse. But I fully support Rumpel’s threat. Keep Belle safe!

Greg, Greg, Gregorg…What can I say? Well, I completely agree with Cheryl’s theory in the previous recap. It all makes sense. His name, his ringtone. I’m not sure how he fits into the larger story but considering he was in an episode that heavily focused on science, that certainly lends evidence to the theory. Plus, given that he has to do with genetics and the episode was called “In The Name of the Brother” I think that though he may have seen something in Storybrooke he shouldn’t have, he could end up being a very critical aspect, which has me wondering if we will even find out his major significance before the seasons end. Similarly, and I know I brought up this point in the comments of the last recap, I feel the need to repeat the point, this episode was called “In The Name of the Brother” and though it focused on Whale and his monster (Gerhardt), I think in someway it applies to Charming one because we do not know his name(something that continues to bother me no end!)and because he was a twin, which I certainly plays around with the genetics stuff. I obviously have not sorted out these thoughts enough to make them any more coherent but I propose them to the brilliant minds of everyone here for further discussion and analysis.

One more note on Charming, I was watching Thor the other night and found it absolutely hilarious that when Thor’s friends land on Earth and are walking through the town, the S.H.E.I.L.D. agents describe
Fandral as Robin Hood…This is funny because that’s who Josh Dallas plays, in case you didn’t know.

    Moving right along…

“Her”, I know this seems minor and I probably could have addressed this person earlier but I have some questions I wanted to keep separate from everything else. First, he called her “honey” so she could be:
    A) Sister
    B) Girlfriend/Fiance/Wife
    C) Lover
    D) Hook
    E) Some relationship I haven’t thought of or missed
I threw in that last one…IDK, why, I just felt like imagining Hook being in someone’s phone as “Her”…Then again I feel like that’s exactly how everyone would Cora in their phone and I would be inclined to believe that this is Greg’s mother, especially since mom’s were a touchy issue this episode with Regina and Cora reuniting and Whale thinking he could have done more good for his father by bringing back his mother but then being interrupted by Red who used that to tug on Whale’s heartstrings and make him pull up his big boy pants and get cracking! But who calls their mother honey? Anyway, I’m curious if that’s Greg’s generic ringtone or that’s a ringtone just for her. In which case, it would make sense if it’s sister because “Clone Wars” genetics again blah blah blah…However, it could still be any of the other options because it could be an inside joke or something related to their actual relationship. Though that detail may not be the most important information. Finally, do you think anything will come of what Greg said to her? Or given that he landed himself in the hospital do you think she just thinks he hit his head too hard? The question is, will she come to get him and then what danger does that pose?

There’s not much to say about Henry, except that was very observant of him. But I’m a little confused, Henry saw Daniel in the stables, how did he not know how what had happened? Did he ask and did Charming just not tell him? Because the Henry we’ve seen does not forget and though he didn’t necessarily know who Daniel was (though Daniel is in the book so he should) you would think he would still want to know how his life came to be threatened like that. I’m just surprised Henry was unaware that Dr. Frankenstein has been in town. But glad we’ve reached the complete conclusion that there are other stories coming.

Which brings me to Whale. What a fabulous character he is. I only wish we had seen him and Jefferson meet because we’re in need of some Jefferson. Anyway, in “The Doctor” we saw him desperate to get back to Gerhardt, to continue his work, but Regina couldn’t do that. And then Daniel was a failure. And he also got punched in the face by Charming. I loved that moment, even though I love Whale now because he’s not frustrating me, nothing like a man defending his woman’s honor…So, anyway, this episode we had Whale completely doubting himself. He didn’t even want to try to save Greg with the science he holds so dear, he went straight to Rumpel first. That was a low point. And then there was the watch and the attempted suicide. I’m not sure what to make of a Whale that considers himself helpless and lost. It provided and interesting dynamic and definitely stokes my theory that he is the Wizard from The Wizard of Oz. The idea seems a bit obvious since that’s what Jefferson and Regina call him in FairyTale Land but, after this episode I think it’s even more obvious. The entire beginning and very end of The Wizard of Oz is in black and white. And this episode had a very underlying “Pay no attention to the man in the lab coat” feel. Nevermind the other obvious points, with the pocket watch and how Gerhardt needs a new ticker. Plus, Jefferson could be the Scarecrow and though I feel like Rumpel should be the Cowardly Lion (because then he’d be the Beast, the Crocodile and the Lion and somehow those all fit together) I’m not sure it would be that obvious. I’ve heard whispers that Red could be Dorothy, though I think she’s better fit for Toto(I kid, I kid!). I can’t decide who the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda are. And there are quite a few options for Dorothy from Red, to Belle, to even Regina. But I do think we’re getting a Wizard of Oz centric episode soon so hopefully all our questions will be answered then!

    So I think I’ve covered almost everyone…

At first I was really proud of Regina, standing up to Cora and knowing her true nature. And then I was disappointed because she’s still just a girl who wants the approval of her mother and everything and anything will always trump that. I did find it interesting that Emma’s approval is equal to Henry’s, the reasons for this are obvious but still. Regina hates Snow and Charming so much she refuses to use their real names. She said Emma’s name, that was interesting to me.

Cora, well I’m going to keep my mouth shut about Cora because Wendy confirmed my theory and I saw what she was talking myself and though you never know with Once Upon A Time I don’t want to go saying something that someone might consider a spoiler since it can be partially confirmed…But…I have to comment that it’s yucky that she and Rumpel used to be luvers…And it’s disgusted that I typed the word that way. Also, I don’t think that Rumpel can be Regina’s “real” father, though I’m not sure that was ever questioned before now anyway. I’m pretty confident that Henry I is her bio-daddy and I don’t see how Rumpel and Regina making black magic (that was a poor attempt at making that sound like a euphemism, I apologize) would really change that. But nevertheless I think that creates some kind of incest within the family tree somewhere but I’m not a hundred percent sure if that thought is correct because I think it rests on the theory that Neal is Bae and I’m not sure it’s even technically incest if Regina is Henry’s Aunt…I’m getting myself confused, I’m going to stop.

And finally Emma, I want to discuss her lie detector thing, does it really work? Is it as trustworthy as Emma has lead everyone to believe? What if there’s connection to Pinocchio here. His story is all about lies and deceit and being impulsive. But it is interesting that of all the people to come to the real world with it’s him. I mean she never really knew August because he abandoned her but to have an instinct for lying just like Pinocchio’s nose would grow if he did is quite the coincidence.

And one last question, why do you think Rumpel is allowing Henry to come on this trip to find Bae with him and Emma? Is it to protect them from Cora? Or is it because there’s an even bigger family reunion on the horizon? Is it to let Snow and Charming have the place to themselves? Does there need to be a reason?

Okay, I think that’s enough. I encourage everyone who may not have seen it to go and watch the promo for the next episode “Tiny”, might as well discuss that too since we have a while…

I thought the whole “OH NO HE SAW SOMETHING LETS LET HIM DIE!” was overly dramatic. He was in a bad accident. I am pretty sure you could convince him it was just because he bumped his head. People in general don’t want to believe stuff like that and explain it away easily enough.

I was thinking “Her” could be part of a last name … like Herzog or Hernandez? Or Herman or Herbert? Maybe his honey is a man?

And do you think the genetics angle maybe has to do with something about magic being inherited from generation to generation?

Way to go PottyMouth!!! Now we can’t be a having you taking care of real life stuff like paying bills or taking care of your offspring, real jobs, or anything else like that!!! We are the most important thing in your life!!!! We are what makes you, you!!! OK, maybe not. But thanks for the recap anyways!!!

Cheryl — I don’t think that magic is inherited. I thought that it was something you kind of have to be taught. I know they kind of push the barrier on that. Especially with Emma, but I thought that this issue was addressed some time back. I think anyways. I have been known to think things are one way when that isn’t necessarily the way it actually is. Old age setting in perhaps, but more then likely plain old stupidity would be more accurate.

OK, let’s get right to it. How about them Charmings??? That so called no name \Prince\ Mr. Goody Two Shoes for sure. He just wants to let that poor feller die!!! Him and his buddy Grumpy. I tell you what, if these are the good guys, then I feel sorry for all of Storybrook and Fairytale Land both!!! Talk about your mixed up morals. WOW!!! Then they just go searching through his belongings like they had good sense. I thought you had to have a search warrant in this country before you could just go help yourself with other peoples belongings like that. If it was up to me their asses would be sitting in a jail cell right now. That’s where that whole tribe belongs anyways!!! Just who the hell do these people think they are???

Them no goodnicks have my poor, beautiful, lovely Queen Ragina so shook up that she feels like she has to be in hiding for something that she didn’t even do!!! While they run around breaking the law all over the place. I sure hope that Cora will finally bring her out of her funk that she is in. So she can put them no good Charmings right where they belong. \IN JAIL!!!\ Bread and water would be to good for them even…

Just as I was starting to maybe like Belle just a little. She goes and destroys that cup right after Rumpty Dumpty goes and tells her that it is one of his most treasured possessions!!! Now just how rude is that??? To me she is blowing this whole no memory garbage way out of proportion. She feels that she has to start screaming and work herself into a tizzy fit and breaking things that don’t even belong to her??? For what reason??? Get a grip girl friend!!! I actually liked Rumpty Dumpty with Cora more then him and, who are you and me too Belle!!! Something about that kiss with Cora just seemed right to me!!!

This whole Frankenstein thing still seems out of place to me. I did though like how they presented it this go round. I liked the so called \GOOD\ son killing the father. How Victor couldn’t bring himself to kill his brother even though it would probably been the best thing to do. I just wonder why Rumpty Dumpty even cares about living forever or bringing people back to life??? I couldn’t quite wrap my hands around the tie in between Whale wanting to kill himself on this side and him restoring life in the Frankenville side of it. I mean, I got the science comes at a cost like magic does thing. Him trying to kill himself about it. I don’t know. It just seems like that crisis should have happened long before now. As for a relationship between Whale and Red. I personally would rather see Red with Boothe. That way even if he is still wooden. She at least has a chew toy or something she can chase after no matter what!!!

As far as the great Cap’n Hook goes. What a real weenie this guy is!!! He just can’t seem to help but to getting his ass handed to him by a woman. They gotta keep him from getting killed by Rumpty Dumpty ta boot!!! First Belle, and now Emma. How embarrassing is that?? Time for him to take a walk down the hall of shame!!! Give it up!!! Go home!!! Yer getting yer ass kicked by girls dude!!! I wonder how long before the fellers down at the Pirate’s Union get a hold of that information and laugh his ass clear back to Peter Pan land???

I can’t for the life of me figure out why Rumpty Dupty wants to take Emma and Brat Boy along with him to go find his son??? I can understand taking Emma along to repay that debt a few times in the middle of the night!!! But Brat Boy too??? That’s just wrong!!!

That’s it!!! I feel for you if you read all of that garbage, but at least you’ll know better next time!!! Oh yeah, we at least get to find out what the hell that stupid assed Charmings name is next episode. As if I really give a care!!!!! HAHAHAHAHahahahaaaaa!!!!!

@Adventure: It wouldn’t be incest unless Regina and Bae or another blood relation “made black magic” together.

@April: They’re fairy tale characters….and classic literature characters. Isn’t it in their nature to be over dramatic?

@Mike Hunt: Wouldn’t it be probable cause or does that only apply to drugs?

Is it sad I only know what probable cause is because of Psych?

I totally get why Rumpy did the truce with Cora, I mean….Bae but ARGHHHHHHHHHHH Not Cora Rump!!!! Not Cora!

Before I begin can I just say how BADLY I want to live in Regina’s hidden room!!! That beautiful white trees with the lights and crystals and glittering apples! Plus Wallpaper. I love Wallpaper……..okay I’m really odd.

I loved Regina in the first half of this episode. The way she stood up to her mom and she didn’t blame Emma and everyone for not believing in her. She was so strong and in control of herself at that moment. Cora’s manipulation at the end…I can’t blame Regina but ugh! No! Mommy Dearest status!

I really love the rounding of characters, Whale went from a minor villain last season to being a tortured doctor with family trauma and his own inner demons. His dad is SUCH a jerk. You have one more academic son than the other and yet you shun him. Ruby and Whale’s talk on the peer was really touching. Both are misunderstood figures in their own books.

The stranger and I have the same ringtone. The Once writer’s are sending me a little love note in the episode!

Barbara Hershey is such a good actress, she goes from sweet to bitch in under 30 seconds.

Rumpy and Belle are breaking my heart so bad. He’s so lost without her and she’s just lost. Then when she broke chip…Oh my god…..the tears that welled up when they closed in on Rumpy’s face. I CANT TAKE THIS! Whyyyyyyyyyyyy.

That globe was the coolest thing ever, except having to watch him prick himself with a needle…Ugh needles.

And it’s favor time, and it’s about Bae. They’re going to New York! And I bet you, they find Neal.

Uh oh….The Stranger saw something…….Storybrooke is effed now.

Michelle: Im with you. My heart was breaking. He’s definitely my favorite character.

Aventure: Oh you never disappoint me with in depth analysis!<3

I don't know how you stand Hook! I want Rumpy to beat him to a pulp. Though it is funny how he becomes a simpering puppy when Emma doesn't care a bit. Loved when she told them to leave him for last!

I'm still living in the realm that Greg is a plain old human. I was toying with the idea that maybe he's one of those folklore seekers that drives around older parts of the country. I'm not sure though, I'm loving all the various possibilities with him. Human, Character, From another world and what trouble he may cause our beloved gang.

I forgot about that (in reference to Thor). I'll have you know that i'm rewatching Who and have had a traumatic week with the parting of Nine and the end of Rose.

Okay, you made me snort with laughter at Hook being D) which hurt cause I was drinking a Shirley Temple! I'm wondering what Greg's steps are going to be. Have her come get him, find a way to stay around, or call a swarm or reporters. And what happens if someone catches on.

I adored the scene with Whale and Ruby about Monsters and feeling helps. Adventure you are a genius about Wizard of Oz and black and white. Perhaps after Whale left after what happened to his father he took the Weather Balloon and got transported to OZ! I think some of the characters from the Wizard of Oz will be new, so Glinda and Elphaba might just be new faces. I'd love some Wicked jokes too!

I knew you'd be excited to know. You has that theory for such a long time! I feel like Regina is just the child promised to Rumple but Rump's not her dad. That'd be really awkward. ……Oh my Adventure…your theory.

I have so many confusing theories about Emma's lie detector but blah I think all of them are wrong….

I think Rumpy's taking Henry to insure Emma does her part. What better insurance than the son. Also, probably to keep Henry from Cora. Rumpy likes Henry.

Mike: If someone's a John Doe in an accident you can go through their stuff to figure out who they are. I'm pretty sure thats exactly what they were doing. Trying to figure out who he was.

SagKim: Psych is the greatest. I fully support learning legal terms from Shawn Spencer. I also fully support hiding pineapples in everyday life.

@April: All he really saw was Rumpel about to throw a fireball, that could easily be explained away that he thought he saw something but it was something his mind created upon impact.

Hmmmm…Did Greg get in the accident because he saw something or was he driving recklessly and going to hit something anyway?

@Cheryl: Oooo Henry! Emma can do magic because she’s the product of true love…If Neal is a fairy tale character perhaps the same thing could be said for Henry…Actually even if Neal isn’t we’d have a Half-Blood Prince kind of thing going on (not that the writers would steal from Harry Potter or anything like that…I mean really! That’s like saying Dementors will show up in Storybrooke…Oh wait.)

@Mike: I….wait…how…I just…that may have been the best comment ever even if you are making fun of me, I’m laughing. Even so you make a few good points. I bet Belle is milking this for the sedation drugs…Maybe breaking Chip hurt her hand, she could probably use some morphine. Also, it never occurred to me why Rumpel wants to know how Whale does it. Who would he be interested in bringing back? As far as Hook goes, I don’t think Pirates who wear guy liner can bitch at each other for not being piratey enough. I would love to see Grumpy step in and show him how it’s done…Actually never mind he was a bit of an idiot in Pirates of the Caribbean.

@Sagi: I knew I was getting myself confused. A friend had mildly mentioned it and I thought I had understood what she meant but the alcoholic pudding was getting to me and I just said that I didn’t think Rumpel was Regina’s real dad but then I tried to make sense of the point while typing my response and realize that I have no idea what was trying to be said. Anyway, I love Psych! And who ever said you never learn something from TV?! Since Greg is the obvious cause of the accident I do think they have a right to go through his stuff, find out if he was drunk or on drugs.

@Wendy: OMG that hidden room was gorgeous!!! I am really impressed that this season has managed to take us outside of Storybrooke so quickly. I can’t wait for Rumpel to get to New York! What will he think of The Capitol of the World?! I didn’t really understand the blood map, I kind of expected a giant sign that said “Bae is here” but Rumpel seemed to understand it enough so I guess that’s what counts. Henry is going to be so shocked when he finds out the truth!

    Has anyone seen this? http://once-storybrooke.net/photos/displayimage.php?pid=3631&fullsize=1
That’s Snow’s mom! And look at Snow’s dress! Are those ruby slippers I see?! I also read that Queen Eva will have a “surprising connection to someone else in our world” Ooo who could it be?!

There’s another set pic floating around and it looks like there’s some kind of hole in the street…A rabbit hole perhaps?!

Whoops, Wendy, I seem to have posted my response before I saw your most recent post. Hooray for double posting!

I wouldn’t mind if Rumpel beats Hook up if it involves that awesome hand gesture from the episode before. But how do I explain my tolerance…Well, I guess it’s simple. He’s the shows resident bad boy. I mean if we’re talking about types, Charming is definitely more my type, his smile is…Gah! He’s just soooo pretty! But he’s got quite the nickname to live up to. Hook, there’s no expectations except for him to be a pirate and that’s funny. I love that Emma jabbed him in the ribs when he wouldn’t stop flirting and IDK, I love the way he looks at her. I guess to me the idea of Hook and Emma pervades over all the other feelings and I think he would do away with his ne’er do-well ways for her and I like that. I like that Emma is portrayed as a girl worth changing for and Hook of all people seems like he would take the opportunity if it truly presented itself. Plus I’m a big believer of seeing the good in people and I think Hook would make a great double-agent. But that might just be the talk of someone who grew up on Harry Potter and knew there was more to Severus Snape than meets the eye.

A man with something to do with genetics who travels to older parts of the country for a hobby…Hmmm…But Storybrooke doesn’t show up on a map. And people who drive in have a tendencies to get into accidents, well except for August. The curious thing is he didn’t ask Emma where he was, why?

Oh my Wendy! That’s a rough week! I’m sending virtual hugs and tissues. I was a mess after Chris Eccleston regenerated but then the fantastic David Tennant easily won me over. I really want to rewatch the series too, it comes back at the end of March! Have you seen the first half of season 7 yet? BTW, your points about Matt Smith have given me a new appreciated for the 11th Doctor. Speaking of Who and Once, there’s a movie coming out with Mickey and Hook, it’s a thriller about aliens of course but I was like squealing watching the trailer. Also there’s a rather hilarious GIF circulating of Josh Dallas from his uncredited bit in Silence In The Library that says “Prince Charming has left the library. Prince Charming has been saved.” And I just find it so funny because when I was watching Who I would text my friend my reactions and I was like “Ahahaha guess who found me?” I’m slightly ridiculous when it comes to my TV shows.

I’m glad you appreciate my over active imagination. Though if Hook had a phone, “Her” would most definitely be Cora’s number.

Hmmm…I think it depends on what Greg gets out Belle. I’m not sure a bunch of reporters would believe Greg, we don’t even know if “Her” believes him. His best tact is to remain in town as long as he can. That’s going to be hard since everyone will want him to get on his way and if anyone gets an inclining that he’s up to something it could turn rather dark and dangerous.

I want some Wicked jokes! I agree that it’s possible we haven’t met Glinda and Elphaba though Cora seems like the type that could melt and if anyone gets their hands on her heart I imagine that’s exactly what we’ll see. Where does she keep it?! The exciting thing is Oz is definitely a possibility since the movie Oz the Great and Powerful is coming out soon, Disney definitely has the rights to those characters.

You would think Rumpel would care a bit more about Regina if they were related. That would be so odd if Regina didn’t know just like Henry doesn’t know about his father.

Henry is insurance? Interesting. It actually makes sense, plus Emma just got back. And with Cora back in Regina’s good graces it’s not exactly safe, especially for Henry.

Ugh, I suppose King George will team up with Regina again…Looks like this season is gearing up for quite the standoff…Jefferson and August better get their asses back on screen now!

I know it’s not a likely thing to happen. But can’t you imagine how fun and interesting it would be if it did. Especially considering Regina’s relationship with her father.

Adventure: Oh how I love you and your posts! So much to gnaw on and think about.

I just want Hook to be drowned in the old lake for what he’s done. How awkward is that family going to be if Hook ends up with Emma and Rumpy is grandpa to Henry. WHAT ABOUT BAE?! Don’t you compare my darling Severus Snape to Hook *sob* Severus! Always was a favorite character. Also, I meant to tell you, my friend sent me a theory that Emma is the Swan Princess. I’m not very convinced, especially since it just seems to be relying on her last name but it does pose an interesting question, will Emma become a storybook character? And if so, who?

That’s what I’m wondering!!! I’m wondering if he hadn’t heard rumors of a strange town and was actively seeking it out. Then the border used it’s defenses and cause him to crash.

No I haven’t seen it yet. My friend didn’t come to visit me so he didn’t force me into watching it yet and I’m still in my Moffat funk. Granted I’m watching one of my favorite episodes right now which is written by Moffat. Blink! Your slightly ridiculous? I definitely am! Haha! When the Stranger’s ringtone played it was the same as my own. I just need to get hired on the set of Once and then not only will I be back in my beloved Northwest (granted the canadian part) but working on one of my favorite shows!

Of course I do! I enjoy the theories it comes up with! This show requires a lot of thinking and it’s so nice to have someone other than my beloved mother who forgets things rather quickly when it comes to her shows. Unless it’s Survivor. She’s really good about remembering that show.

Disney has had the rights for awhile! I can’t remember how they got them either…but for a little while they sold Wizard of Oz stuff in Downtown Disney and I’m sure more will crop up now that Oz is coming. There’s lots of Peter Pan stuff right now because of the re-release.

Yeah, I mean, you know Emma, she’d try to stop Rumpy or go back or a bunch of other things and Henry coming keeps Emma on her guard and more pliable. Henry and Rumpy seem to have a little bond going after the whole fire room stuff and Henry would want to help Rumpy quite a bit.

SagKim: I feel like Regina would have an emotional breakdown. She loved her father so, so much and to find out he’s not actually her father. Not that it really changes anything but I just picture Regina’s look of horror as she looked over Rumpy and then looks over her own skin checking for any signs of shiny gold skin!

So last night when no one was looking I had an avatar for about half a minute but then I deleted it. I haven’t decided if I’ll put it back, it’s the background on my phone and it fits but I’m not sure…I’ve become accustomed to the little purple thing.

Sagi: Still think it’s a yucky idea that Cora and Rumpel were like that with each other…Interesting though, how much does Regina know about what went on between Rumpel and Cora? I mean Rumpel obviously didn’t love Cora because it was different with Belle and Regina seemed to believe that true love’s kiss would break the “Dark One” curse. What was it Regina said about Rumpel and Cora’s relationship? It was in the episode that Regina pushed Cora into the Looking The Glass…Was it that Cora never spoke his name or that Cora never spoke of him? Because those are two very different things.

Wendy: I’m flattered, I look forward to your posts just as much!

Careful what you wish for, if Hook ends up in a body of water he could become a part of Ariel’s story and then how will you feel?!

It’s a lesson in tolerance. If Henry is Bae’s son, Rumpel will have to learn to live with Hook and NOT pull a Regina and try and break them up. However, I admit it is a bit gross that Bae’s wife and the mother of his child(again all ifs)could fall for the same man. But stranger things have happened…And besides, Milah was running from something and Hook was always seeking an adventure. Emma isn’t going to run away and that in of itself is an adventure for Hook. Look at Belle, she didn’t want to be Gaston’s little wife, she wanted to get out of that provincial town and see things and all she really got was locked in a castle and forbidden to go near the west wing. Of course it turned into so much more but that’s the point, sometimes the adventure isn’t in seeing the far off places, it’s right at home, wherever your heart it.

Oh please I don’t want to talk about dear Severus…Okay I do! I championed him from the beginning. And everyone I knew despised him except one other person who absolutely adored him too. And after that whole thing with Dumbledore Snape-haters were completely insufferable. But I kept my torch for his goodness high and proud and damnit it paid off because then I got to tell everyone I told them so! Though I seriously think Harry should have just had a fourth child instead of giving his middle that ridiculous full name. Anyway, you know that Snape would want you to see the good in Hook. You KNOW IT because everyone has an opportunity to be redeemed unless they’re Cora or Voldemort and simply lack the ability to show remorse. Not everyone gets a happy ending, though I like to imagine Snape and Lily reconciled in the afterlife. But anyone can have the opportunity to prove to the world that there’s so much more to them than meets the eye. And Hook will like all great villains have an opportunity to face remorse. How he handles it will show his true nature and only then can anyone truly judge him. And until then I won’t bound him by the villain he’s trying to be. Because anyone that can love so deeply cannot truly be evil.

I don’t think Disney owns the Swan princess…Though I’ve always wondered where Emma’s last name came from. As far as if Emma will become a part of the book as an adult, you just reminded me of an early theory I had after last season’s finale. Having no idea what magic coming to Storybrooke truly meant I think the theory suspected that everyone would go back to FairyTale Land, again having no idea what kind of state it was in, but that because Emma and Henry weren’t a part of the book they would feel like outsiders, as Emma so often does, and that would lead them to create their own stories…So it is possible. Funny though, when I think Swan, I thought of Isabelle Swan, who ended up the wife of a pirate…What shall we make of that?!

On a side note if I see one more person on the Internet suggest Anastasia…..Seriously, not Disney!

How could there be rumors of a strange town though? Especially since it wasn’t exactly strange until a few months ago. Up until before Rumpel brought magic it was just a little town, full of little people waking up to say….*Starts singing*…What was I saying? I was looking at the cap that PottyMouth posted of Greg in the car because I was curious about the airbags. They seem to have gone off, so thanks Pottymoutyh for that super useful cap! Anyway, he was going really fast, why? And “Her” seemed to call shortly after the accident so maybe he was on his way to “Her” whatever his intentions were they didn’t find it in his car (a giant box of condoms and/or an engagement ring would have sufficed) so we don’t really know if he was going or coming(*Snickers* I’m unbelievably immature sometimes #SorryNotSorry). So this “Her” may actually end up in town to pick Greg up since his airbags went off and his car is busted(doesn’t airbag deployment qualify the car for being totaled or something like that?) And any special person who would call wondering where he was (because whoever this person is, is special to him) isn’t just going to let him take the next bus home after landing himself in the hospital…

On that note, it occurred to me that in the last few episodes we’ve gotten a lot of commentary about how humans mistreat other magical beings like the giants and the wolves. And almost all the characters in Storybrooke are guilty of crimes of…er…inhumanity but now the tables have turned. Even the most human in Storybrooke are in danger with an actual non Storybrooke character around, a real human. Which means that in the next few episodes, every character better get a little introspective and seriously look at their choices and maybe how they’ve wronged someone or in the case of the giants and wolves massacred them and drove them into hiding.

There was a lot of Who influenced in that last comment. Speaking of, you are going to LOVE the last episode in the first part of season 7! And if you think I have a lot of thoughts on Once you should see what I do with a campy little show like True Blood, never mind all my theories for Who. Oh! I can’t wait until you see the Christmas special!!! I only have one friend that watches Who and that’s a show that requires moral support. When I finished season four I didn’t know about The End of Time special so I turned on season five and I was like “Why is Matt Smith hanging out of the TARDIS? Where is David?! I NEED to say goodbye!” Of course my friend set me straight and then I cried hysterically. I believe she received something like 82 texts from me. And the only explanation I could give was that he was dying and I needed to tell someone. This is why I don’t read anymore! Oh oh! Let’s go both get hired for Once! I want to sit in that writer’s room and absorb the awesome!

I completely agree. It’s nice to discuss the show with my friends but we don’t discuss it like we do here. I’m usually the one that has the theory and my friends decide if they agree or disagree (I currently have it split in half about the Jack theory, some friends are just adamant that he’s not Jack but refuse to give any other suggestions). The funny thing is one of my sister’s friends turned to me recently and was like “I just got into Once Upon A Time, I feel like that’s your type of show”…So I guess I’m predictable but that’s okay, it’s Disney and they’ve somehow managed to take my adoration with fairy tales and the princesses to a whole new level.

Ooo I didn’t know they were selling Oz stuff, neat! What’s this year’s campaign for the parks because I know Annie Leibovitz is photographing again.

I think it’s great Henry is going! He gets to see New York, he’s going to meet his dad, it’s going to a whirlwind of an adventure for him and I could not be more excited that it’s happening close to home. Makes me feel like I can stroll into the city and run into them!

Also, who thinks that Red and Whale should go out for an Italian dinner and share a plate of spaghetti?!

I also was in love with how cool the hidden room looked. My husband said it was too busy, but I was thinking it was awesome. Not something I would put in my own house obviously, but for an extravagant character’s room. YES! Love it!

This show is good because for several people I know they say it is the only show they can watch with their kids and everyone enjoys it.

@Wendy: Yeah that’s what I was thinking would happen. Which is why I kind of want it to happen cause Lana Parrilla is such an amazing actress. And I know she would kill it.

@ Adventure: This is all I could think about when you were talking about Hook.”Riffraff, street rat, I don’t buy that. If only they’d look closer. Would they see a poor boy? No, siree. They’d find out, there’s so much more to me.”

And I feel your avatar pain. I’ve already changed my a few times. And I’ve been thinking about changing it again, but I don’t think I give up my Homura. She’s just so awesome. You have to see anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica to understand the full extent of her awesomeness. I don’t know if you like anime or not, but even if you don’t this show is amazing. You and Wendy, both might like it. It has so many levels like Once Upon A Time and it’s just as intense. It’s only 12 episodes, and if you marathon it like I did, you will spend a few hours full of so many feels. And by the end of it you will be emotionally drained. I wish I could tell you about it, but it’s one of those shows were even the smallest detail could spoil something.

OK, I know you guys are right about them Charmings going through that fellers stuff. But did they \all\ have get their big noses involved in the process??? Just because they could be all high and mighty over in Fairytale Land and beat people into submission. Don’t mean they should be able to do it on this side!!!

I just don’t get the fascination there is with these clowns??? They’re shallow, self centered, egotistical maniacs that think they can do no wrong!!! Well I’m not buying their little masquerade. They don’t fool me any. They are no good I tell ya. I know what I’m talking about here. Look, it’s taken over a season and a half and we still don’t know what that Mr. Goody Two Shoes, Prince Charming’s name even is!!! What’s he hiding behind??? Why would he keep his name such a secret for so long if he wasn’t worried about it??? And what’s up with Snow White’s head??? It’s that goofy looking haircut she has!!! She looks like a boy!!! Why would someone who is beautiful with long hair go and do that to her head. If I was Charming I would tell he to grow it back or sign the divorce papers. Because I didn’t marry a little boy!!! I ain’t like that!!! Yep, that’s what I would tell her. The thing is, I don’t think Charming has the nads to tell her anything. Everytime he says something. She shoots it down. He tells his Artillery Men to \fire\ at Ragina’s execution. Snow decides she don’t like the idea and overrides his authority and has it stopped. Making him look foolish. That’s just one of many times she has done this and he backs down. Every single time!!! Just like the coward he is.

Now you take the lovely, beautiful Queen Ragina, and when she tells everybody something is going to happen. It’s happening!!! There ain’t no backing down. Like at the same execution. You don’t see her begging for mercy. I must say that was a lovely dress to die in. She filled it out perfectly too. She also told them Charmings exactly what was on her mind even as they was taking her away. My kind of woman I tell you what. Not only that, She looks like a woman!!! A beautiful, lovely, gorgeous, woman at that!!! Not some homely little boy like somebody else we all know.

Can you tell that she is my favorite character??? I hope it’s not to obvious anyways!!!!!

April: You mean not everyone has a secret room in their home to hide away in when your estranged, evil mother who you thought was dead comes over for a surprise visit and frames you for murder?! I’m shocked! Are you sure you don’t have like a rabbit hole or a cupboard under the stairs or a wardrobe or even a hidden door in a bookcase that you might use to get away from your in-laws even?!

Sagi: A ha! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I COME HERE!!! I…Just…I’m speechless…Try and picture me staring at my screen with so much glee right now! Granted now you’ve also got me trying to figure how Hook can be Aladdin but still you put it better than I did and in song too! So we shall see…Is Hook a hero at heart?! Me thinks so! In the episode with the giant didn’t he ask Emma if she trusted him?! Neal did too though didn’t he?! And he was certainly a street urchin…Hmmmm…No no Neal should be Bae…Now I’m envisioning Cora singing “You Never Had a Friend Like Me”…Clearly I should move on because my thoughts are incoherent…Oh one more thing Aladdin is coming to Broadway!!! I WILL come back to this point when I come up with a song counter attack.

Adding your recommendation to the list, it’s a long list, of shows I apparently still need to watch, I’m pretty open to trying anything.

I would suggest making your avatar something Once related but this isn’t the only place everyone comments so that might not make much sense.

Mike: You’ve been spelling your favorite character’s name incorrectly.

Now I have to defend Charming?! What is going on today? Okay let’s see if I can do it in song like Sagi pointed out…Charming’s song would be “Look there he goes isn’t he dreamy…” No that’s not a good argument…Okay, well, in regards to Charming and Emma handling Greg’s phone, I think Charming has a right. If anyone shouldn’t be involved in the official sheriff business it’s Snow. Charming took over while Emma was gone so he at least has been doing Sheriff-like work. Now as far as Charming as a character goes he’s just as layered as any of the others. First, he’s not the real prince, he didn’t grow up like a prince. Next, just because WE don’t know who he really is doesn’t mean those close to him don’t. And I don’t think it’s such a big secret, I just happen to think that he’s not interested in the glory of whatever that name brings, he’s not hiding anything, he’s choosing to be someone who earns his place. As far as his relationship with Snow goes he respects her. Why shouldn’t he back down? Snow knows Regina better than he does and Snow also wanted to believe in the good of others, her approach was smarter and much more fair. Regina was banished since there was no point in killing her since she could no longer kill Snow. I’m not saying that these characters have always been as angelic as they’ve been portrayed…One of the writers said that Snow White may not have always been Snow White, what this means can go anywhere with this show though I imagine she was a handful as a child and then had to grow up real fast after her mother’s death. Anyway back to Charming, I’m not quite sure what you want from him? I agree he’s not the strongest character and David Nolan had no backbone and was just one giant disappointment after another but Charming believes in his love with Snow, he believes in “her”(Wendy that was a Who reference as well as a all the other references anyone else might want to make of it)and so far it’s gotten him everywhere he’s needed. He stood up to King George, he refused to be James 2.0. Regina gets something done because she filled her heart with revenge and nothing else and where has it gotten her? Snow and Charming have been nothing but pure and honest with each other. No one is so completely virtuous and I certainly want the nitty gritty of their pasts to come out but in the meantime, Charming is a classic case of doing everything because he has “a girl worth fighting for”…Have any of the Princes we’ve met been what you seem to be expecting?

Also, I forgot to propose that “Her” could be Jennifer Love Hewitt…*This was an obligatory and poor attempt at a Can’t Hardly Wait reference carry on*

Let’s remember the writers have a lot on their plate when it comes to Charming. None of the Disney princes have any personality until …Beast (What was his real name?) and Naveen. I guess we can throw Eric in there to since he had more than 2 lines. Actually none of Disney Pre-Renaissance cahracters have personalities they just kind have a trait. I mean all of Snow White’s songs are about her finding love and a prince. “I’m wishing for the one I love, to find me today. I’m hoping. And I’m dreaming of the nice things he’ll say.” Wow….she had some big dreams and hopes there.

Sagi: Oh good I don’t feel like I’m shouldering the entire weight of this defense for Charming. I believe you mean Prince Adam. And Aladdin has a personality but he became a prince similarly with Flynn Rider. Ironically I think you just made the point that Merida was making about the princes she had her choice of. It’s not about how closely they can hit the target and win the princess it’s about if everyone wants the same thing. Eric wanted the girl who saved his life with the beautiful voice and he had an opportunity to repay the favor and save her. Also, Ariel and Belle made sacrifices to get the “more” they desired.

But I think that’s why Charming’s identity is so important. We’ve gotten to know David and we’ve gotten to know Charming but there’s a boy who grew up on a farm that we don’t know, which makes him more like Aladdin and Flynn anyway.

What I don’t understand is why is his behavior almost unredeemable?! He admitted he made mistakes especially as David. Plus in TV time it hasn’t been that long since last season so it’s not he’s shrouded in mystery. We just haven’t gotten to know a part of him yet.

Well I can’t sleep. So I guess I’ll address your Anastasia comment Adventure. People get confused because it was made during the Disney Renaissance. Disney was dominating at that time and a lot of other studios became “inspired” by them. So they created movies like Anastasia, The Swan Princess, and Thumbelina to get a piece of that sweet, sweet Disney pie.

I know why people think that and I love all those movies…Well the Swan Princess sequels got excessive and don’t get me started on how Odette was just a boring damsel in distress and really needed to stop getting into trouble and grow a personality but that’s an entirely different conversation. IM AWAKE and getting back to commenting to everyone.

I just want to throw a bit in about the non-Disney 90′s movies. Almost all of them were made by Don Bluth, who once upon a time, worked for Disney. Only the Swan Princess isn’t his out of the ones mentioned. He also did Rock-A-Doodle-Doo and An American Tale, All Dogs Go to Heaven. Bluth was the biggest competition for Disney during the Renaissance.

I don’t think Emma would be Anastasia, aside from Disney not owning the rights but because she’s more of a historical figure, turned fairytale than an actual fairytale, but anything is possible.

Also, fun fact of the day; The voice actress of Ariel, Jodi Benson, also provided the voice of Thumbelina. Take a listen sometime! Alice and Wendy Darling also share a voice actress.

Adventure: oooo Hook gets me so annoyed! He’s not mean enough to be bad and he’s too obnoxious to be good. I just want to throw him overboard. Maybe in a well?

Severus was always my favorite, I really like snark. It helps that Alan Rickman also played him in the movies which gave me a really rich and brilliant visual image for him. There is no good in Hoooooook. He shot Belle after she saved his life and was pleased with himself. Hook can die in a fire. I really don’t appreciate him one bit.

Disney doesn’t own the Swan princess but everyone wants her to be a character and I think people are truly relying on her last name for it. I’m not sure if it’s a clue for Emma or if they were trying for a romantic sounding last name. Swan’s are noble, gentle birds so perhaps it was a nod to her nobility?

No clue! It was an idea, trying to figuree out why he was showing up or if it really was an accident. One would think you couldn’t find Storybrooke on accident, you always have to be looking for it…. Hrm…

It’s going to be interesting because a lot of fairytales are about outcasts or those who were mistreated by \Normal\ people. Now they’re the one’s who may end up doing the mistreating and will have to reflect on that.

We need a new place to talk Who that’s not the comments of a different show haha. I had a really sad long mope after the events before Season 5. It was terrible, watching Tennant and then seeing him saying goodbye to everyone. UGH. Even my mom was crying and she thinks that Who’s kind of stupid. This coming from a woman who watches Soap Operas!

I only have one other friend that actively watches it but sometimes she’s on tour and she can’t watch them consistently which means you all are the only ones I have to get all my Once out to. I have a great plethora of Sci-Fi and Comic Book hero geekery friends but none for Disney and Once. Kills me man.

I’m not sure what the official theme is but this year is The Year of the Ear where they’re releasing limited edition ear hats every month and then it’s also the year of Limited Time Magic. At Disneyland they’ve brought back the New Orlean Bayou Bash for Mardi Gras which features Naveen, Tiana and Louis singing the songs from Princess and the Frog, The Chinese New Year celebration with Mulan in California Adventure and the Golden Horseshoe Review. At Disney World (AND I’M SO JEALOUS) they currently have old characters out for meet and greets like Robin Hood, Balloo, Frier Tuck, JakJak and GusGus and so on. I want to meet Robin Hood :( It’s my favorite.

But the real question is, Who’s the lady and who’s the tramp?

April: I would put it in my house in a heartbeat. It would be where everyone could take tea with mini apple pies ala mode!

SagKim: I’ve heard of Madoka! Actually a good friend of mine is obsessed with it, or was, she drew a lot of Madoka fan art and was in the Madoka Fan Art Zine awhile back. I’ve been thinking to watch it because I love me some magical girls (helllooo Sailor Moon!) And I know the basic premise. Is it on Netflix?

So, I was going to write something in the defense of Charming and Snow but Adventure’s taken care of it so yay! Thanks Adventure!

Golden Age Disney movies definitely reflect their time period. The stories are more simplistic and basically just about love, nothing else. It wasn’t until after the long period of darkness (as I like to call it) that Disney came back with a vengeance. Of course by that point it was the 90′s and the role of females in the world have changed, so we get the more adventurous princesses.

The Beast doesn’t officially have a actual name. Disney never gave him one, but the fan name for him is Prince Adam. He’s also my favorite Prince, though Flynn Rider is pretty awesome.

Cooch! I’m glad you enjoy the nonsense of the comments and we aren’t just driving everyone bonkers!

Adventure again: Charming is a really human character, he has flaws, he’s hot headed at times and stubborn as a mule but he’s caring and good and tries to do what’s right for everyone. He also harbors a lot of guilt, his mother dying, snow almost dying, what happened during the curse.

I also think Ginnifer Goodwin’s pixie cut is adorable. At time I want to chop all my hair off because I don’t what to deal with the mane.

I think Titan A.E. was the last. It’s sad that such great movies spawned some crappy sequels. Well, I like An American Tail II and The Land Before Time sequel with the flowers. Have you heard of thatguywiththeglasses.com? One of the reviewers on that site, MarzGurl, did a Don Bluth retrospective.

I haven’t seen Madoka on Netflix, but it is on Crunchyroll.

SagKim: To be fair, The Secret of NIHM scared the hell out of me as a child. I still don’t much like watching it, which is odd cause the owls in Rock-A-Doodle-Doo are much scarier. Never much cared for the Land Before Time though, I wasn’t a dinosaur kid. Don Bluth’s works were great but I always felt like there was something missing. Something that didn’t quite elevate it to Disney’s level.

However Thumbelina is on of my absolute favorite animated movies. I love Let Me Be Your Wings.

As soon as I’m done with my Who rewatching, which is in three episodes cause I’m going to skip the death of ten (I don’t have the emotional strength) and anything with 11 currently, I’ll move on to Madoka. I need to catch up on my Adventure Time too, though I’m just dying for the new genderbent episode. Marshall Lee the Vampire King! Finally!

I love An American Tale!!! I think one of my favorite non Disney movie is The Brave Little Toaster!

Wendy, I definitely don’t think Emma is Anastasia, that’s not to say they couldn’t create a version of Anastasia’s story but Emma is definitely more like Odette than Anastasia. Her name leans that way, the fact that she is a princess leans that way and her blonde hair certainly leans that way. But she’s too strong to be Odette. Like I said, Disney has used the last name Swan before. Elizabeth Swan may have been incredibly irritating but she married Will Turner who was the son of a Pirate. And he wasn’t all that bad even though he has an excuse to be. What does the term Pirate really mean? Wasn’t the Captain Hook of Peter Pan a bit of an idiot? Sure he was ruthless but that Hook wasn’t supposed to have redeeming qualities. Our Hook is. And does. And like I said he’s capable of love. This is a crucial point because Cora is not. This means that everyone can see that love is strength.

However, this brings up a good point because we’re about to have a standoff between those who think love is weakness and those who think love is strength. Which is a conversation we were promised but not fully given answered to. So, we should discuss…Other than Emma, how is love strength?

Jodi Benson is also in Enchanted, she’s Robert’s receptionist.

That’s the point. Hook isn’t a real baddie. Since when does being obnoxious make you not good? Granted he was very satisfied with himself but Rumpel got something very valuable from Cora and is on his way so as not to kill him. Plus he’s basically turned Charming and Snow into sentries because if something happens to Belle everyone is going kaput.

Oh Alan Rickman, he is my old man crush.

In the premiere of this season there were two swans in the water next to Hook’s boat…

It’ll be interesting which angle they take…Will Greg mistreat the characters of Storybrooke? Or will the characters mistreat Greg?

But how would Greg have found out about Storybrooke? You know what, I blame August…He’s not around to defend himself and he should be so right now it’s his fault that Greg has shown up.

We do need another place to discuss Who…But where?! And you really need to watch season 7…And the recent Christmas Special!!!

You have no friends who are Disney fanatics?! That’s terrible! My friends and I have literally had conversations through Disney songs. You need to come join us and revel in the love we have for all things Disney. *Whispers* You have a friend who goes on tour AND watches Once sometimes?! That’s a really casual way of saying you know some really cool people!

That’s cute the year of the ear. One of my best friends is getting married and for her bachelorette party as a joke I suggested the Minnie Ears engagement ring. She would do it except the ears are a bit overwhelming. Anyway, I was curious because I saw that Taylor Swift is Rapunzel in one of the adds and Annie Leibovitz does such beautiful work, I wrote a short paper on when she photographed Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella.

It doesn’t matter who’s the lady and who’s the tramp as long as they start referring to each other as Viktor Dear and Darling!

I’m glad my defense of Snow and Charming was good…I don’t understand why a man has to be this macho guy who doesn’t listen to anyone in order to be worthy of his penis…Goodness forbid he uses his brain for even a second without the threat of being deemed a pussy…Also, I’m a loud and proud Snowing…Which I only recently discovered is a combination of their names.

Flynn Rider is everything you could want from a regular guy who marries the princess. Plus I love him and Maximus!!! He’s easily my favorite though Prince Adam used to be and then I always thought that Prince Eric was the best looking, until Charming came along.

That’s the other thing, Wendy, Charming has this huge barrier that he’s a pretty boy(sooo pretty!)and just a face and there’s nothing going on in his head. But he’s completely proven that notion wrong. He’s not an airhead, he’s actually quite smart, well except for not locking up Jefferson’s hat, but all is forgiven. It’s why his past is so curious to me because whatever happened to make him stop using his real name, well I imagine whatever happened, whoever he is or was, he doesn’t want to be that person anymore. Which means he must be a big deal. Plus it fits, we’ve seen Snow run and then eventually face what she was running from, it was the same with Red and Whale and even Emma ran from her destiny. And Charming will have to account for his past soon too. Their lives are complicated but that’s what has shaped them. Charming might not be a real prince but he’s a better candidate for the job than his brother was. I wonder what Emma will think when the truth comes out…Charming, who ARE you?!

I didn’t discuss the hair but I had a pixie cut like Ginnifer Goodwin, it’s still short but I’ve been growing it out. It’s fun! I happen to like my hair longer but it makes for a refreshing change and I think she pulls it off fabulously, she snagged Josh Dallas so obviously it doesn’t bother him. Similarly I can’t believe Emilie De Ravin wears a wig, I think she looks so good as a brunette! Though if we’re going to talk about hair don’t get me started on Jennifer Morrison, blonde is not her color.

BTW given that Anastasia is more historical and not Disney but Pocahontas is, do you think she’s around?! Or that she’ll be around?!

SagKim: I definitely agree about animation style as well. Thumbelina for me was great except her hair. She had these three like tufts of hair around her face that drive me crazy.

Actually I think Disney owns the Brave Little Toaster now! It shows under Disney on Netflix.

I think the Swan thing is too obvious to hint at who she was, but then again sometimes the writers love to be obvious. I want to cull through other obscure fairytales that make use of swans. Perhaps Emma is the ugly duckling? The outcast who grows up and becomes the most valued one? Captain Hook wasn’t an idiot persay, he was just blinded by his own hatred and greed.

Love is what binds the people of the town together, it gave Belle her courage, it gave Rumpy compassion and allowed him to repent for some of his sins, it’s love that keeps him from falling back into the monster he is. I think it’ll be Henry’s love for Regina and her love for him that saves him. It can be a weakness too, after all Regina’s love for her mother is dooming her right now.

Hook + Well = Happy Wendybird.

Alan Rickman is my old man crush too! Are you sure we’re not the same person?

Can we just blame August whenever something goes wrong? Especially since he’s booted.

    Uhhh Tumblr? Maybe…Possibly? Could be?

Okay, I take that back, I have no friends close to me that are Disney Fanatics, the friend who tours is a big Disney fan. She has a half sleeve of Scenes from Sleeping beauty, its AMAZING. But she doesn’t live close to me *sigh* My friend that goes to Disney a lot with me is a casual disney lover. But usually its her listening to me sing when we walk around the park. I can’t not sing Disney songs when I’m there. Your friend should get the white bridal ears with the veil! Super cute!

I like Snowing a lot, without Snowing there would be no show and I like that everyone has flaws and makes mistakes and isn’t dipped in sugar. Cause that’d be sticky.

Flynn’s great, though I could stand not to watch Tangled for a few years currently. It had been playing for 2 months straight at work until last week when I brought Ponyo in. I’m pretty sure my coworkers and I can act out the entire movie of Tangled now.

Watch Charming be the easter bunny, just to drive you mad Adventure. The writers will just drive you mad.

I hate short hair on myself, I had short hair for like 5 years around middle school and it was just awful. Since then I’ve kept my hair longer than my shoulders and up until about 8 months ago, with full blunt Zooey Deschanel style bangs. Now those are grown out which is really weird but baby steps into trying something new.

Jennifer Morrison’s shade of blonde is not her color, it could stand to be a bit warmer.

Hm. Pocahontas. I’m wondering if she wont show up because of the whole historical figure thing, I mean she definitely could, but that’d involve explaining to, like Emma, why she’s a Storybook character and a figure she learned about in school. I’m really just waiting for my mermaid, and my Alice.

Also, I’d love to see the March Hare find Jefferson. That’d be an amusing reunion.

Oh! Another thought! If the White Rabbit is in Storybrooke, will he become Cora’s henchman?

DISNEY OWNS THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER?! Nevermind, Disney now owns all my favorite childhood movies except Anastasia and An American Tale(I would like to note that I am completely guilty of chasing my cats around the house shouting “There are no cats in America!”…I won’t apologize either I think I’m very funny).

Seriously the second you said other stories with swans I totally thought of the ugly duckling and I love that idea!

Cora is so manipulative, ugh I hate her but then I remember that I’m probably right about her and I respect that even Cora has her reasons, however diabolical. I also think that the love is strength thing goes back to what I was saying about Charming and Snow, he believes in her and everything he does is for her. Certainly this makes Charming more vulnerable, just as it exposed Rumpel’s heart. But when it comes down to it, love has always brought Charming and Snow back together. Their faith in their love borders on religious. Though in the same vein of thought, what does Cora really in?! What anchors Cora?! I guess we’ll know better soon enough, she’s stealing Regina’s spotlight. Move outta the way bitch!

Oh leave Hook alone. You know that equation really means Belle + Memories =Happy WendyBird

OMG! No way?! I have a lot of crushes so I’ve categorized them, I thought I was the only one (besides a friend of mine) who did that. We are scary similar it’s spooky! We’re like East coast/West Coast versions of each other.

Yes let’s blame August, it’s the only explanation. This is just like how I liked to blame Alfonso Cuaron for anything that was wrong in the Harry Potter movies…Well Cuaron and Steve Kloves (Why are writers who take a good thing and change it all named Steve?!). Anyway, August has ruined everything yet again! This guy and freaking magic box! What is up with that box? Actually seriously, what could be in August’s box?

Tumblr works! I’m positively addicted, I was forced into getting one (okay nagged) and now I just reblog and reblog and do very little else. I should warn you, my Tumblr is like a shrine to all of my favorite TV shows, though I don’t use it to live blog like I use my Twitter, my Once reaction tweets get very emotional and in 140 characters that’s basically a lot of caps lock.

I sing Disney songs in Disney…Actually there’s a Disney song for practically everything…Except when I’m drunk, my friends and I tend to belt out Rent songs when we’re drunk. I don’t think she wants ears, though I think they’re cute. She really just wants me to bring Josh as my date to her wedding and I would except that we currently don’t run in the same circles and also he’s dating Ginny and I’m not sure Ginny would like it if I stole her boyfriend….Oh but if the opportunity presented itself…No, no what am I saying? I’m not like that…Or am I? Excuse me I’m having a debate with myself about my morals in an imaginary situation!

They totally make the show, could it be because they made Emma?!

You know what would have been good dipped in sugar and sticky? (A) Graham (cracker) Sorry, I think I’m hungry.

You should have a Tangled inspired flash mob at work. And like all of your coworkers should totally just break out into “I’ve Got A Dream” periodically throughout the day!

Uh! The Easter bunny! Of course! Why didn’t I think if that?! Sure, the writers send you love notes with Greg’s ringtone but me they go “Yeah let’s have Charming be a llama”…OMG, he’s totally going to be the Easter bunny and I’m going to be so disappointed. On a side note, I don’t believe he has enough groove to be a llama.

IDK why they let Jennifer Morrison’s hair wash her out like that?! Don’t they see how it looks in editing?

Oh I know how Pocahontas comes to be in the story! It’s sooooo obvious, they go back in time and get her!
Wendy, you walked right into that one!

I don’t expect to see Alice anytime soon, I suspect that she’s Grace’s mother and since Jefferson has just walked off somewhere carrying Grace I just don’t see us getting that information anytime soon, unless Alice is also Dorothy.

The White Rabbit wasn’t exactly a henchman, she had the cards to do that. Though it is a good question and since Neal has been associated with rabbits (except now we know the truth with Charming being the Easter bunny)in various theories let us suppose that when Neal comes to Storybrooke Cora demands he fight with her then Neal will have to choose and that’s probably where they’ll end the season!

@ 2 Sagi– yowzah!!!!! Rumpy as Regina’s father!!!! I like it and never crossed my mind at all.

@ 3 I Want– am with you on Whale–I am getting a little crush on him–I love the novel and love his wranglings with himself. I think he and Red would make a smashing pair. They are both looking toward redemption. Also Whale as Wizard–could be. We need the storyline and I see him as Wizard–I like Gerhardt for Tin Man, Bashful as Lion and Dopey as Scarecrow. Could Belle straddle 2 storylines?????????

@ 5 Cheryl– I wondered that also– Her as in Herman, Hermes, Herod… Honey maybe is Honey Bunch from the old books????? nnnaahhhhhhh

Greg had an accident as did Emma–she swerved to miss hitting the white wolf—-If Greg goes back over the town line wouldn’t his memory be erased????? Cure him and toss him out!!!

Are we ever going going to find out more about the Ogre Wars???????

How about “Leda and the Swan” for Emma???? Just a reference with Lou Reed–Neal had the song Charley’s Girl playing and another Lou Reed album is titled “Magic and Loss” and a song with the lyrics about Leda that I will look up—all food for thought kids

How about Neal as—-Rip Van Winkle, Huck Finn, Don Quixote, Harold and the Purple Crayon (no phallic jokes–just caught that myself)

I also had “The Glass Menagerie” on the brain– thats b/c it was incorrectly categorized as a book–and we all know its a play. ( Yeah–”The Challenge” on MSG network–you made a mistake!!!!!!)
How awesome would “A Streetcar Named Desire” be??? “Emma!!!! EMMA!!!!!!!!” I saw it on B’way with the late Natasha Richardson and Chris Bauer and John C. Reilly—had second row seats and was spell-bound. I dont think I breathed at all.

Nonetheless—in the interest of admitting Harry Potter crushes I have to add mine to the group.
I have a total crush on Remus Lupin—almost fell off my chair when I saw the movie and him work up some bad-assery saving Harry on the Hogwarts Express and cried for him thru out his trials with Tonks.

Cawfee: Seuss is probably unlikely since Dreamworks owns the rights to Horton and I forget who was behind the unspeakably terrible Cat In The Hat.

OMG that sounds like the most amazing cast of A Street Car Named Desire!!! It’s not my favorite but I would love to see what they do with Blanch! The thing is what world would these people exist in?! I mean there are unlimited options for sure but there needs to be a realm that I guess makes sense, it can’t just be a place for these characters to exist for the sake of existing, there needs to be magic since our world was the only one that didn’t have magic.

Remus is the only Marauder I respect and I have yet to forgive JKR for killing him and Tonks same with Fred, I substitute his name for Percy whenever I read the 7th book.

I Want——I go between putting all fiction into Storey Brooke but I realize its necessary for things to happen outside of it like Wonderland, the top of the beanstalk etc. I think with Emma and Rumpy leaving SB to find Bae and the fact that Neal and August (where is he????????) are outside it, that opens up alot of stories and characters.

Adventure: They do! Disney owns almost everything I love. Muppets, Star Wars, Marvel, itself….

It kind of works right?! Her being the ugly duckling who transforms into a princess not a swan.

I have a feeling power and control anchor Cora. Isn’t that what it’s always about for her, getting more power and controlling those around her. She doesn’t love, she just wants to control everything and accumulate more power.

NEVER! Not until a certain crocodile disposes of him!

We are the same person. We coexist to balance the coasts of this country, hahaha! No I totally have an old man crush on Alan Rickman.

August is the Doctor. No but really, where is he? I’ts really bothering me where he might be….

Tumblr is making me mad right now with the new update. I can’t reblog anymore. It’s incredibly annoying.

Oh god. We could do it too, we really could. We’d sing to each other if a song was on and we were passing by in the backroom to get stuff. Luckily Ponyo’s in now and there’s only one song at the very end in Ponyo.

If Charming was a Llama wouldn’t that make him Emperor Cousco or however it was spelled…..

Neal is either going to be a big assets or he’s going to muck everything up. And I think it’s going to be…..muck everything up.

@Wendy: Madoka really is bittersweet, but really good and interesting take on the genre. It’s funny how before Madoka you never question why an alien/supernatural creature wants to save Earth. (I still love Kyuubey. He’s just so cute.) And needs a bunch preteen/teen girls to do it. I also love the animation in it. And at least it doesn’t have so many random things and it doesn’t have bad engrish power calls, like Sailor Moon. I mean I love Sailor Moon, but there are a lot of (O_o) things in it, like the Sailor Starlights. And “Star Gentle Uterus!”,”Moon Healing Escalation!”, etc.
How was the dub? I only watched the subbed. I’ve seen a few clips of dub, mainly Homura and Kyuubey parts which I didn’t like. How was everyone else?

Sagi: I know that Mulan potentially opens up the possibilities for folklore outside of the more well known western fairy tales but I’m not sure it does, Disney took the story and made a very lovely cartoon/musical movie so it’s technically more mainstream. However th would love to see other tales from other countries be told. I mean Princess Merida is from Scotland and though I’m not sure we’d ever see a real Merida I think someone like her would be awesome to see.

Cawfee: I always liked Oliver Wood as a minor character crush, I always thought Sean Biggerstaff(which is a worse last name than Wood lol!)should have been in the third movie. But Snape was my great love and everyone else was kind of scenery.

Well I think it depends on who Neal ends up being and the story of how he got to where he is, obviously if he’s Bae we can pick up from the moment of him jumping into the hole from the bean and escaping FairyTale Land. If he’s someone else entirely that creates a lot of questions, like how did he stay outside the realm of the curse? BTW whatever the answers to these questions are it’s August’s fault. He can keep his mysterious magical box and all it’s wonders…I don’t mean that, I just miss him!

Oh and I’ve decided that Whale and Red can be the Fox and the Hound too…I mean the live stuff seems more like Lady and Tramp but Whale is a bit of a fox ;-P Did you ever think you would be attracted to Dr. Frankenstein?

Wendy: I love that they revived The Muppets…Jason Segel is my father of my children crush lol!

Watch Emma has the ability to BE and actual swan, it’s her spirit animal, her familiar, I bet she finds a swan and they become friends.

But that’s what I was saying, love is fulfilling. With power you never have enough, you’re always wanting and eventually it destroys you.

Hook is here, he’s not going anywhere anytime soon, I suggest you get used to it.

Wait we balance out the entire country?! I feel so important!

Don’t talk to me about August, he either needs to come back or everything that happens in his absense is his fault. He should have come at the last moment and stopped Belle from going over the line. He needs to come back and fix everything including bringing Graham back because he wasn’t there when that happened either.

Yes if he was a llama that would make him Kuzco, hence the no groove comment.

Neal is going to be an asset, there’s a a pic of him on set holding a sword, whatever you want to make of that.

Thanks Wendy!!!!!! You have great ideas too—love reading them. I’d love to kick it old school too and see all Lit come to The Show.

I Want—–do you think Neal has to have a quest of his own????? I do and think Rip Van Winkle, Huck Finn and had another idea–thought I wrote it down. How many stories would he cross???

Sagi— I think Mulan and Aurora will be back soon—Jamie Chung was interviewed and spoke of the show going “very dark”. We just got Phillip back (well front–it was his story with the Yaoguai) and there needs to be some resolution (dammit!!!!) before the end of the season.

Have we ever discussed time?????? As in before the curse 28 years ago, were all fables, fiction, literature running linearly????? Romeo and Juliet occurs at the same time as Madame Bovary (Emma!!!), Tom Sawyer etc????????

  52. 52
    iwantadventure
    Posted January 31, 2013 at 11:39 am

I do think Neal has a quest, however, I think it’s in direct relation to Emma. As discussed somewhere in the above comments every character at one point or another has been forced to face their past and it hasn’t been easy. But they’ve all come out of it with a better sense of themselves a better sense if the “We Are Both” philosophy. So Neal is going to be immediately thrust into a role, this doesn’t mean he won’t get his own quest at some point but I’m not sure he’ll span too many stories, it’ll get confusing and there has to be a reason he’s all those characters because he’s still Henry’s father and all these things will affect Henry at some point in time.

I despise Mark Twain and I really don’t want Huck Finn or Tom Sawyer anywhere near Once Upon A Time. I like the idea of Rip Van Winkle but I don’t think Neal fits that bill.

As far as time goes as the expense of going into a long winded explanation about how time isn’t linear but wibbly wobbly I would like to say that I have wondered the same thing Cawfee, you know Regina used magic to take the poisoned apple Snow bit and make the apple turnover. Technically she took that turnover out of time. That being said I’d like to see some stories occur as the show progresses as opposed to seeing the story in the past but I’m not sure how that would work because a modern day Romeo and Juliet is a bit boring, though something like A Midsummer Night’s Dream could work but some places the location is a character in of itself. I think if I had my choice I’d love to see like a Shakespeare In Love kind of thing or meet Chaucer like in The Knight’s Tale (the movie with Heath Ledger), basically the amazing Woody Allen movie Midnight In Paris I think the authors are a character all their own and and the magic they wield is quite special.

Why does this break feel sooo much longer than the actual hiatus?!!!!

Them sneaky bastards are like that. Well I am here to tell you that the objects in the mirror are closer then they appear!!! Things are not as they look. They have warped all of your minds into thinking one way, when it just isn’t so. These folks are very deceiving and like to play tricks on your mind. It’s because they’re a jealous lot. They hate it that Queen Regina (note the spelling) is so much more beautiful and lovely then they are. They can’t stand that she is so much more powerful then they are. They will do anything to make you believe otherwise. Even to the point of using mind spells and what not to make you think that the lovely Queen is some villan of sorts. When in truth she is all about beauty and a wardrobe that could make any peasant look like a Princess!!! You people have no idea what you are getting yourselves into by following them Charmings. Does any one else wonder if Belle will read books in an attempt to get her memory back?????? But that may put her on too many paths—-I wonder is she will read “Rumplestiltskin” and “Beauty and the Beast” and connect the stories to the wrong people. It is a good chance for new story lines and also to get some characters to the front now.

Maybe Sheriff McHottypants will come back?????????

I personally think that when Rumpty Dumpty kissed Belle it didn’t work for a reason. I think that him and Baelfire need to get back together before his, “TRUE LOVE” can totally be for Belle. Then all will be well between him and Belle!!! Then again, what the hell do I know???

Mike: We’re just going to have to agree to disagree. However, I don’t think the Charmings are jealous of Regina at all. That being said I think you might be onto to something with Rumpel and Belle. I assumed the kiss did not work because he is no longer her true love but it very easily could be that he can’t devote his entire self to her. Hopefully the Bae stuff gets sorted out soon, especially if this is the case.

Cawfee and Sagi: This might be odd but I don’t think Belle is going to be very interested in anyone in Storybrooke and I don’t think she’ll be interested in reading either. The other person, the Belle that was locked away in Storybrooke is fearful and small. She doesn’t have a name, she doesn’t have a history. And she’s incredibly afraid of what she saw. Of Rumpel who wouldn’t leave her alone. There is no comfort in books now. There’s just fear. I mean obviously they did this because Belle is the only character in Storybrooke without an actual Storybrooke counterpart, so now she’s going to create one. And it might not be someone we like. Let’s remember David was incredibly frustrating, especially knowing Charming. We know that Greg and Belle get to know each other since they’re both in the hospital and this could prove to be very dangerous. I recall in the promo Greg asking her what she saw. She could be a catalyst for some greater issue and that might be the only function of her current state. It doesn’t mean I don’t want to see the writers take us someplace new with Belle forgetting herself, but I think the reality is we could end up disappointed and we have to remember her plot is one of many and the show doesn’t have the time to solely focus on Belle rediscovering the stories.

She doesn’t know she’s lost her memories so reading wouldn’t necessarily bring them back. On the other hand this could be trigger something. Emotional attachment is powerful that’s why Rumpel had the right idea with the cup. It’s like how Snow reading to Charming woke him up and Graham realizing his heart was missing because he started to fall in love with Emma, never mind that kissing Emma triggered actual memories. The thing is the barrier spell is different than the curse. They don’t know why the spell created itself after the curse was broken and the curse was more like a memory suppressant and that’s why there are emotional things that brought on flashbacks, that’s why Charming and Snow were so drawn to each other but could not figure out why. Belle is suffering from full memory loss. Nothing came before the moment she went over the line and everything after has been utterly terrifying in her eyes.

Graham is returning, Jamie Dornan confirmed this months ago but it was made official the other day by one of the writers. I can’t wait for more Huntsman!!!

I wonder if Greg is “Him” in “Her” phone…Oh! I was wondering if Greg might be an author of some sort. I still like the “father of genetics” stuff and I don’t think he’s the author of Henry’s book because I fail to see why that’s important but like just an author. The reason this idea occurred to me is because sometimes in books the dedication is to a “Her” and so if she’s his muse or inspiration or something along those lines I can also see why that would be the name he used in his phone.

Also, in regards to stories I’d like to see I think the show could pull off Tristan and Isolde…

@ 58 Mike– that could be—Emma kissed Henry and the curse broke—I think Rumpy has some unresolved issues with love–maybe he doesn’t believe in true love. And with all the hatred toward Hook—Rumpy really cant have “true love” for Belle–

@ 59 Sagi-ooooooooooooooohhhhhhh—I love that idea!!!!! Henry is stepping into the role of “hero”–he should be involved in this

@60 I Want— great point—it seems that Belle’s trope ( ???) is losing her memory. You said something that jumped out at me–”fearful and small”–maybe its time for Tinkerbell or Thumbelina???

I would love to see Tristan and Isolde–I want Canterbury Tales–with Granny as The Wife of Bath.
There is a Greg Mendel who is also an author—writes sci-fi/fantasy. I think he published in 1990′s.

The cast has so many awesome female leads but Aurora and Mulan ended up being a little less spectacular, it’s time for someone awesome who isn’t exactly embroiled in a love story and a great way to bring in a Nova and Grumpy reunion. Though I think everyone is waiting with baited breath for Ariel, and I happen to agree. I have faith, trust and pixie dust that Once will deliver.

I LOVE the idea of Granny as The Wife of Bath! And I think the show could do like a Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys style episode but as for the actual characters…well that’s actually intriguing too.

Cawfee: That’s definitely James in the clip…And if not for the dialogue in the end of the clip I would have come here and started stammering about her comment about the magic mushroom and slaying the Jabberwocky and the “wise woman” who gave her the mushroom but then the clip ended and my mouth was on the ground…It’s definitely a case of mistaken identity. I want to latch onto your changeling idea so bad except Charming didn’t know he had a twin so he never met James. I’m just…Shocked…And confused…And I want answers!!!

Cooped up in the house all weekend because of the blizzard, I’m sure we’ve had enough weather since Sandy and don’t need 2 feet of snow but at least Ince is on again on Sunday!

OMG BELLE NEEDS TO BE ELIZA!!!! That needs to happen right now!

Curiouser and curiouser, they said it would be a reimaging of The Little Mermaid and I kind of like the idea that she’s in present day FairyTale Land, maybe her story is still going on…Maybe she doesn’t have her voice when they meet her. I like the idea of interrupting her tale or finishing it with her…If she is in FairyTale Land she better come to Storybrooke! Then again Storybrooke is right on the water and with Regina’s mention about seeing a mermaid, Regina has a part in her tale(hopefully she’s Ursula), which means Ariel could be flipping her fin in Storybrooke…Maybe she’s still part mermaid like Malificent was the dragon…Ahhhh so many posdibilities they need to get to it already!

That license plate still bothers me. Maybe it is some kind of nod at Tink…Maybe “Her” is Tink…The writers said she’s going to get her own origin story but maybe Greg and Belle have something to do with that…Sheesh there’s a lot of loose ends right now!

Mike: No wonder I was never interested in watching Lost.

So I’m not the type of person to take things as they come. And when I’m wrong. I’m wrong. I’m slowly getting over it but I’m also going to move forward. We are getting Charming’s real name this coming episode! As you all know this has been a nagging point for me and a HUGE deal. Given the revelations in the sneak peek I offered about I would like to make a last stitch effort at a new theory.

A few quick points to make:

There is definitely a biblical theme here:

Charming’s mother’s name was Ruth, according to some sources the Ruth of the bible was David’s great grandmother.

James is David’s twin brother. Of course there is the King James bible which certainly makes sense since James was in line to become king but according to the OUAT Wikia page: “The name James, which is a variant of Jacob, can mean “follower” or “supplanter”. A supplanter is someone who takes the place of another person, place or thing. This is fitting, as Prince Charming supplanted his twin, James, and most definitely followed him.” Jacob is also a biblical name.

Abigail is the name of Charming’s former fiancee. King David had a wife named Abigail.

Now, I would go out on a limb and suggest that Charming’s name is simply David, we say Snow use Mary Margret as an alias with Red before she trusted her but I think that’s too easy, and though easy has been the writer’s style lately, I don’t see that happening here because there is such a stark difference between Charming and David. I would suppose that his name is Daniel just keeping with the biblical theme but that’s the name of Regina’s dead love. Same with Adam, who is technically the name of the Beast but with Rumpel being the Beast they shouldn’t use Adam, even though that would be biblical too. So what we have here is a shepherd, who lived with his mother on a farm(and apparently did not sell his cow for some magic beans…He also should have had a sister named Jill! OH COME ON THAT WAS PERFECT!!!)

The man himself Josh Dallas, recently gave an interview stating that when we find out his name it’s both surprising and obvious…

From what I’ve read people are supposing Arthur but I don’t see that happening since Lancelot said he’d already left the round table when he met Snow.

He’s definitely not Robin Hood because Graham was supposed to be Robin Hood until the show couldn’t get the rights.

So back to the biblical stuff there are a lot of options here…

In a skewed way Jacob works because he woke up in Storybrooke married to Cathrine, a woman he did not love and way drawn to Snow, who he eventually found. But that would make Snow Rachel and then it makes Emma confusing because she can’t be Dinah and she can’t be Benjamin, which means that Charming probably isn’t Jacob.

He does fit the the bill for Joseph in character but he only had the one brother who he didn’t know of until he replaced him, we’ve yet to see him thrown into a pit and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t own a very colorful coat.

This leads me to think his real name could be Josh (see what I did there?! lol!) But seriously, Joshua has his own book in the bible. He took over leading the Israelites after Moses, who was also a shepherd and he defeated the Philistine so he is a biblical hero. Joshua is viewed as “a faithful, humbling, deserving, wise man” and David is believed to have referred to Joshua in one of the psalms, though not by name. This would also certainly be very surprising and obvious. Though, I’m not exactly sure what Joshua would be doing in Henry’s book…Because it’s one thing that the library is open and an entirely different thing that Charming is heavily featured in what has kind of become a sacred text in the show…Oh the irony! The other theory was much more air tight despite the corpse seen in “Tallahassee” and the fact that Josh Dallas said he would like to be Jack if he could choose a character other than himself.

I would consider Greek mythology, since Phillip is probably located in some kind of version of that in the Underworld and August’s box seems mythological…Speaking of whatever is inside August’s box, if it’s magic related, where did he get it? Also, since Aurora, Mulan and Phillip’s story is running parallel to what’s going on in Storybrooke in terms of time does that mean that there are unfinished stories in Henry’s book or are Aurora, Mulan and Phillip not in it?

All in all unless someone can come up something equally as “surprising and obvious” I am taking back my Charming theory and going with Joshua…Though there was the sneak peek that showed Archie dead, which we all thought was the big surprise until the end when it was revealed he was actually alive…But I’m not sure this is the case again…It just doesn’t seem likely they would go masquerading as Jack…I’m so confused…And distraught…I don’t want to be wrong…Sometimes I don’t care but I was so sure I was right about this fact…Ugh! I guess I’ll just find out on Sunday…At least it’s not too far away anymore.

Cawfee, I love you! I came here to vent and didn’t expect anyone to agree with me. I’m glad the episode didn’t live up to your expectations either. I actually thought of you while watching because after realizing my disappointment and that there is no other story at the moment(dare I mention that David and Belle are technically the only ones without a real Storybrooke name/persona and dare I begin to consider the idea that they were both in the hospital…To be explored further) I realized we have these high hopes for these different parts of literature and it has finally become clear that maybe they can’t tackle everything and maybe they shouldn’t…IDK I’m pissed so maybe it’s not a good time to voice my opinion. Moving on…

I can’t remember which dwarf went over the town line…I thought it was Sleepy.

Ahhhhhh! Yes they are totally setting up for the Wizard of Oz!!! Brilliant!

I did say that Belle wouldn’t be interested in reading but I was distracted in that scene by Red’s coat…I wonder if Belle will assume a new name since she hates everyone calling her that…Perhaps Dorothy?!

Ooo I wonder what they’ll make of the statue…And we need to talk about the promo…Do you really think they gave it away that easily or do you think the “there’s your boy” comment from Emma is being taken out of context?

Jessi: lol! I couldn’t have said it better! I blame Jorge Garcia, he’s lucky he has good friends in the business that give him work because he’s a terrible actor. That might sound harsh but his scenes were unbearable, at least Josh Dallas is able to play two separate characters convincingly…Anton has no personality and his angry voice was just a louder version of his regular speaking voice.

I wasn’t really disappointed about the name because I was amused by the way they revealed it. And Adventure it still falls into your Biblical theory.

Only the witches eyes from the 1st season were sewn shut. The woman in the preview scar was running diagonally across her face. So I don’t think it’s the same one.

Sagi: It doesn’t though…It only became the David and Goliath story because of what happened in Storybrooke. And he wasn’t exactly King David for long, if at all…I mean was Snow queen? As far as the actually fairy tale that’s in Henry’s book he’s just David…Just plain old David in a twisted version of The Prince and the Pauper…That’s boring for one thing, for another the writers are basically saying there’s no distinction between Charming and cursed David, which we know isn’t true. And moreover, we were lead to believe there was something more to the story. Everything about it bothers me. Maybe the writers are up to something but I’m not putting much stake in that. The fact that there’s no greater story to tell bothers me, the fact that I feel gypped and deceived bothers me and the fact that his name though obvious is not all that interesting. It felt like a wild goose chase or a dog chasing it’s tail…The writers just wanted to have a laugh but to go one and a half seasons and make it seem like we didn’t know his name, makes the whole thing wrong. There is no limit to where they could go and it just seems like they took the easy way out. I think they just wanted to create something out of nothing…From what I’ve heard that was a common occurrence on Lost. I’ll get used to it…I’m just also going to lower my expectations a bit. At least even Steven Moffat makes it interesting when he spins you around in circles…This was just toying with the audience to generate ratings, “Ooo big reveal coming, watch watch watch”…IDK maybe they can earn my trust back…We’ll see.

BTW we’re getting an episode that’s pre-Henry/Emma Storybrooke!

I get that, it wasn’t one of the more important or interesting storylines but I like stuff like that and I feel baited. This season has been strange like that, everything has been so obvious, on the surface, IDK why they started doing it but it’s been the trend since I started to think Cora wasn’t the Queen of Hearts…They’ve been slacking…I mean I love the show, don’t get me wrong and everyone is entitled to make mistakes but it’s become a little unmoored. I mean it’s not as new and shiny as it was last year but it’s only it’s second season too and I would hate to see the show use all it’s good ammo before it really hits it’s stride, it’s just they’ve made such a big deal about certain plot points and then resolved them in the next episode and that’s odd…There’s no thread tying everything together because everything is kind of it’s own individual story this season, I’m sure there is one, it’s just you would think that thread would be the obvious thing, like last season it was all about getting Emma to believe. In this season everyone wants something different.

I’m pretty sure everyone knows he wasn’t James…Especially since he fought against King George, I mean how do you explain that except with the truth?! Besides, Charming doesn’t like to manipulative people, he certainly holds himself to the same standard. Also, Sagi, how did it have shades of The Princess Bride? I mean they could have done it with Anton if he was Inigo…But maybe I’m missing what you mean…Not that it makes a difference, Once can’t even make a reference to it because they don’t own the rights but that’s why we have PottyMouth lol! So she can make the references we’re all thinking while we watch…OMG how awesome would it be Carey Elwes and/or Robin Wright guest starred?!

But she does remover him, Cawfee, when they collide on the sidewalk and finally see each other’s faces she shouts “YOU!”…I was wondering if the “There’s your boy” is being taken out of context like instead of meaning “There’s your son” she means “There’s that guy we were told to find”…Like he’s a middleman…Granted I think Neal and Bae are one in the same but I’m surprised the promo would give that away that easily. Whatever happens between and Neal and Emma, whether they reconcile or not, it must happen pretty quick because Neal goes back to Storybrooke. I’m sure he’ll fight against Cora to get in Emma’s good graces…Ooo I smell a sword fight between Neal and Hook!

Somehow, with Ruth dead I don’t think there’s going to be a big reveal regarding a third brother. James wasn’t killed by trying to slay the dragon, he was fighting with some guy and killed him for sport and in his moment of victory his opponent seemed to be merely stung for moment and when he stood up he ran James through right in front of King George.

It would make sense if NYC is a portal, it’s teeming with magic, plus the beanstalk will take a 100 years…It seems to be being guarded by some rather nasty folk…

Grumpy was surprised that Charming had a twin brother and that his real name wasn’t James. So it seems Charming and Snow didn’t tell the truth or the whole truth. Maybe the writers are making everything obvious because it’s so unexpected. Because nothing was obvious last season, people are now expecting everything to be shocking and complicated this season. So it throws them off when the answer has been staring them right in the face.

The way Charming nonchalantly reveals his real name, to a clearly confused Grumpy, reminded me of the Dread Pirate Roberts fire swamp scene in The Princess Bride.

I would rewatch the scene again but I think it might make me really angry, I honestly didn’t catch Grumpy’s face but this is interesting because in an interview I read Josh Dallas discussed why his character behaves the way he does toward Hook and part of it was Hook went after Charming’s woman but Josh said that Charming doesn’t take kindly to manipulators and the interviewer pointed out that he manipulated people by pretending to be James, which lead Josh to explain that initially that was the case but since he met Snow he’s been nothing but honest…I took this to mean with everyone but I very possibly could have missed something given the texting frenzy amongst my friends that occurred after the “reveal”.

The writers need to pick a side then, either go big or go home. Whale has been the only big surprise to come out of this season and so far he is one the best things to come out of this season. They’re going to alienate their audience if they keep running everyone in circles, it gets exhausting for one thing for another it’s cheap parlor tricks…I want my mind blown again!
