“Waaaa-oooh…it was a graveyard smash!”
Greetings, all! It’s your girl Pillania. If you were one of the nine people who watched the monstrosity “Miss Advised ” this summer, you may remember me as your recapper. I’m stepping in for PottyMouth this week, so I will attempt to do her awesome recaps a modest amount of justice. I’ve watched “Once” since its premiere last season, but don’t really follow the rumors/speculation on the interwebs. Having said that, I DID know the “true” identity of Dr. Whale was one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the show. Personally, the bigger mystery for me is why the beautimous (©June BooBoo) Jennifer Morrison insists on acting with that constant downturned mouth/frowny face because it makes her look straight haggard. But let’s get on with it, because tonight, we finally learn the good doctor’s true identity…
Previously: We met Mulan, Aurora, Hook, and were reintroduced to Cora. We learned how Hook lost his hand, that Cora is still a sneaky bitch even when she was pretending she wasn’t, and that Aurora kind of, well, sucks. This is disappointing because Aurora was my favorite princess growing up. I didn’t really care for her so much as I LOVED those fairies and that cute little cottage they raised her in. But I digress…
Mulan, Aurora, Emma, and Snow are surveying the scene of some tower that evidently is always guarded by sentries. It sounds like the actress portraying Mulan mispronounces the word as “centuries.” They survey the damage like some girl power group as ominous music ominously plays in the background.
Yo, I’ll tell ya what I want, what I really, really want.
This is clearly the work of Cora, who has done the ladies the favor of leaving her calling card: ripped out hearts, twisted/evil magic. Hook’s cowering under some bodies, pretending to be a frightened survivor. The gals promise not to hurt him.
I am one of you!
Oops, wrong show. Forgive any impending LOST references. As I’m sure you know, the creators are LOST alumni, and they slip not-so-subtle LOST references into “Once” rather frequently. What you may not know is that LOST was the love of my TV life…until the ending sucked and made me lose faith in humanity.
In Storybrooke, Dr. Whale approaches Charming, who promptly punches the doctor in order to prove bad-assed-ness. We learned a few weeks ago that Whale and Mary Margaret did it several years ago, eons before anyone knew who they really were. And may I remind “Charming” (I use that adjective loosely) that not only was he MARRIED, he totally EFFED Mary Margaret over on SEVERAL occasions before regaining his memory. But that was okay because??? Anyway, Whale doesn’t seem too offended by the beatdown and instead wants to know if Charming’s trying to build a portal back to his land. Whale asks a litany of Qs, wanting to know if “all” the lands still exist.
