Once Upon a Time Recap: Oh! Oh! It’s Magic

I gotta tell ya; I freaking LOVED this finale.  We got some closure on some items and Emma FINALLY started to believe.  But now we’ve got a whole new game in play and it looks like anything could happen!  I for one can’t wait until season two!  What about you???

I don’t know what’s going on with the forums and when they’ll be back, but I think until then we should use the comments here to discuss, debate, and speculate.  Once the forums return we can heard over there for more – what do you think?

I cannot wait to hear what everyone thought about this finale!  Thanks again to Flipit and everyone else who came to play for the Tweetgasm – it was so much fun!  And a GIANT thank you to all of you for reading and commenting all season.  I truly love this show and it’s been so much fun to share that with people who love it as much as I do.  See ya next season!

SWAK, PottyMouth

P.S.  And just because I love you so…….

PottyMouth

When she isn't screaming curses at various dance show judges or washing her OWN mouth out with soap, PottyMouth is a proud mama to a gorgeous little boy. And yes, she knows everyone says that about their kids, but it's true when she says it. YES IT IS. Fuck you. She also laments throwing away the chance to be a trophy wife, and would like to find a rich husband so she can sit on her ass all day long and watch TV. If you are fabulously wealthy, look like Hugh Jackman (or ARE in fact Hugh Jackman), and are turned on by foul-mouthed, mature, slightly smooshy women, then she just may be the gal for you. I never had an appreciation for the Huntsman until you showed me all there is to appreciate, PottyMouth. Yowza!

Overall, I loved the finale, too, though there were some plotholes. Hopefully, those things (Snow and Charming seeing their daughter for the first time, e.g.) will get filled in Season 2.

I have enjoyed your recaps. I love how much you love the show and us!

Awesome recap, thanks for including so much! I was wondering what they’d do for next season, and I think it’s going to be really cool having magic in our world and seeing how they deal with it. Love that there is still plenty more opportunity for backstory…how Snow/Charming take back the kingdom, more about Wonderland, and new characters too of course.

Is Malificent the human dead because Emma destroyed her in dragon form? Just seems like she’d make a good foil for Regina and Rumpy.

The only moment that had me WTF-ing was Emma becoming a believer. She’s been so resistant to everything, for an entire SEASON, but she touched and became a believer in 0.2 seconds. Just seemed a little too easy to me.

Other than that, LOVED the finale! How to go a whole summer with no new eps?!

….sigh….. Oh PottyMouth……..OMG– I love this show–we got a wee look at Sheriff McHottypants (too much clothes but I am greedy) and no dwarves getting the “whoosh thru the town” of the curse reversed, but wow–great episode!!!!!!

I thought Rumpy was going to bring back Bae too—–but the curse reversed and Belle knows Rumpy but what about the new curse???– Lots for my little head to think on and of course read the awesome comments here.

Times of tears— MM reading to Henry–you are right its touching on many levels. Mr Gold and Belle re-meeting in his shop. And Henry dying coupled with the re-actions of Emma and Regina–this was all by Regina’s hand so the guilt is something she is capable if feeling. I loved Blue Fairy telling her “You better hide your Majesty” hee hee hee. I wondered if Henry’s death meant that he would leave StoryBrooke and go back to Fairy Tale Land and sleep.

Questions– On Belle’s cell (yes I caught that-lol) it said “S. Glass” outside– where is our Sydney?? Did he go back to the Mirror???? I am loving Jefferson so much—will Paige/Grace remember him with the new curse????
Will “our new curse” bring us to another realm???? Like magic carpets, the Emporer’s New Clothes ( a fave), Snow Queen (love her–how about another Queen??), Bremen Town Musicians and we are due for a stroll into Wonder Land b/c Jefferson is rapidly becoming a major player.
I laughed and cried thru out the episode as I had thru many of them this season.

Thank you Potty for your recaps and insights—

Between this episode and finishing the last Hunger Games book, Sunday night was an emotional night for me.

I really thought Rumpy was going to bring Bae back too. I wonder if he’ll show up next season.

I can’t wait to see Snow’s and PC’s reaction when they meet Emma for the first time. And can’t wait to see what kind a relationship they have with their daughter, who’s now around the same age as them.

Great finale and great recap! The CGI for Malificent was really good. This show doesn’t scimp on special effects. So now I guess Henry will go live with Emma. I wonder if they will live with Snow and Charming, his grandparents. So nice to know that the Huntsman is still around, acting heroic. I read a great interview with Jennifer Morrison (Emma) where she said that she loves the show but is jealous of all the cool costumes the other characters get to have in the other world.

Amidst all the speculations after the last episode, one lonely voice commented that Regina’s weakness was that she really does love Henry and that because of this she would become “one of those bad guys who works for the good guys’ team.” The one thing this lonely commenter got wrong was that the “unlikely ally” turned out to be Emma and not MM. But still. I believe this commenter was named maryedith. Is she psychic or something?

I SO did not see that coming with Rumpy, however. Kudos to this show for showing True Love to be an enigmatic force that can be destructive as well as “good.”

Really OUaT, only 5 seconds of Sheriff McHottypants! Boooo hisss. I liked the dual fights scenes with PC and Emma it was cool, they were doing the opposite of each other. I thought it was a good call from the producers to have Emma switch to the gun. Seriously in our world who knows how to use a sword. I was a little pissy when they stopped the action to go to the hospital, but it was worth it. I made the reading her story to him and at that point and the fact that he was her grandchild connection…my allergies were acting up here. I didn’t think of favorite teacher and pupil connection. Now that I’ve watched Lost(after BatB episode) I realized ‘Clair’ was Belle. I actually went to that recap just to look at the picture, I was sitting here swearing they changed actresses.

I had so much conviction in my heart that Emma would give Henry true loves kiss, his ‘death’ didn’t phase me( you know I would have loved them offing the little snot). Explain to me why Henry just had to ruin MY moment of being right about Emma giving truth loves kiss by saying*ahem* ‘you broke the curse’. No shyt Sherlock …he could have stayed quiet for the rest of the scene and we would have been basking in the scenes’ greatness.

Emma,Emma, Emma…before you leave for your mission you find out that Gold is Rumpelstiltskin. Why would you throw the egg to him? How did that make any sense??? Rumpy is tromping through the forest with Belle tagging along and he takes her to the well I knew about. I sit on the edge of my seat…and of course I KNOW he is going to either get Bae back or get his location. I realize I’m not breathing andddddddd black and purple swirling smoke is NOT Bae…WTF!

So the curse is broken and all the townsfolk have their memories back. Several that should be VERY angry with EQ…just let her go with a half assed warningish comment. I loved having one of the last scenes being of EQ with patented smirk #24. My favorite moment of the night was when David/PC and MM? SW realized who they were. I believed!!!!!! I saw the change and it was amazing PC saying “Snow’..no allergies I was crying…later wondering where this ‘girl’ came from.

I loved every moment of it! I still want to know who Rumpy’s first wife was and if she is still alive. He said something, I can’t remember exactly what it was, to his son that implied she was not dead but just abandoned them.

I loved it too. My MOST favorite part was in Gold’s shop when Emma and Regina went there for help and Gold totally gave Regina the smack down, telling her that Henry is EMMA’S kid and SHE has to be the one to do this. Then him speaking so softly to Emma, sent chills up my spine! I totally do NOT think that Gold is bringing magic to Storybrook to use it to go “rotten” again, he has Belle back now, and knows that Bae is in this world somewhere so I completely see him as being a good guy. Sure hope so anyway!!

Does a curse, any curse have to be inefffect for him to get Bae back?

Will we see Ogre Wars?? I am getting way too excited now.

OH– and fave thing I noticed in the hospital when Henry “dies”–shot of Emma crying and then shot of Regina crying with a reflection of Emma lower right corner-sigh– it knocked me out.

next season is going to be good, i just hope that they aren’t done with the flashbacks into the pre-curse time; those were great, although now that everybody remembers who they are it will be interesting. it seems like regina and rumpy will have the ability to utilize magic , but what about the blue fairy with the huge cans ? she had magic in fairytale land, does she get it back now ? poor august. it would be great to see his CGI wooden version walking and talking amongst the rest of the characters. at least jiminy didn’t turn back into a cricket.

WHY DID I HAVE TO MOVE OF ALL WEEKS?

Okay, so after driving 16 million hours across three states I’m sitting in a slasher motel finally getting to read PottyMouth’s recap!

    Oh this finale. This show.

I wish they had given it two hours instead of one because it felt really rushed in some areas. Emma’s belief, The Huntsman’s appearance, The stuff with Jefferson, Everyone remembering, and the very end. It just needed a little more time to flesh out the details for me.

I was annoyed by that, and Emma in the damn elevator shaft. She knows Gold is not trustworthy anyways and then he admits to being the biggest conman fairytale to EVER LIVE and yet she still throws him the damn egg. Sometimes I wonder if Emma was dropped on her head as a child *sigh*

I know I said this on the last recap but it’s kind of sad that Rumpy’s “true love” that he brought back is magic, granted the scene with Belle when she walks in the shop. I had all the feels. I love Belle and Rumpy so much. I really want a storyline in next season where Belle conspires with Bae to bring Rumpy back from the magic that has long poisoned him. Both of them almsot did it on their own. Imagine what they both could do!

At first I was pissed they were going to kill Henry or use the true love’s kiss like for Snow. But the way they did it, the tears, Emma’s gentle motherly kiss to his forehead like she was tucking him in, saying a last good bye and then! It was well done, and I loved the Blue Faeries reaction to the Evil Queen when they all remember.

I do have to say, the fight in the closet between Emma and Regina was GOLDEN especially when Regina simpers and admits everything. I really hate Regina but the show makes me feel for her. Its so annoying.

I love the scene in the hospital, with MM reading to her grandson Henry the book she had given him, about her, in hopes to bring him back the same way she did David.

Speaking of David, now that he’s gonna be Charming all the time, Can I go back to liking him?

Oh my god, the sparkle baby caption had me rolling by the way PottyMouth! So did all your comments during the live tweet! Thanks for putting up with mine! :)

I had a thought, could Rumpy have reinstated the curse again when he brought magic? Is that why the clock went back? Or will everyone be able to use their magic again? Does that mean they could all go back?

They also need to stop messing with the eye candy. First they kill off the hottest sheriff in all the lands and then they turn August back into a log. *sigh*

I know we’re in for a doozy of a next season but I don’t want to wait that long for answers damnit!

Yes, Yes, Yes to a Forum thread for analyzing. I’m sure I’m not the only one plotting to rewatch everything again with a notebook. …I’m not obsessed…I swear.

Hot Cawfee – Maybe, she did seem to play a very important role in a lot of things over the course of the season in Storybook Land and an extremely instrumental role in building of the vessel and Emma’s (and August’s) safe passages. She could probably help everyone fill in the pieces!!!
