Talk about Mommy issues! This show is chock full of them and this episode adds more into the mix. When last we left our favorite (and not so favorite) fairy tale characters, Rumpy had found his son who found his son (and found out he HAD a son), Regina and Cora were on the hunt for Rumpy’s dagger, and Hook made out with his new girlfriend, the floor.
At least the floor is always there for me.
Poor Hook. He’s just looking for wenches in all the wrong places.
So, after a week away (ugh, Oscars) we’re back and heading over to FairyLand. Well, back to FairyLand actually….
Where a young Snow has been decked out in a pepto pink gown.
Blech. Have I ever mentioned my aversion to pink? Ugh. That dress…..must ignore….
Anyway, she’s all gussied up because it’s her birthday and there’s going to be a ball. Her mom (REAL mom, not Regina) thinks she looks beautiful and she has a gift for her little Snow. It was her mom’s and her mom’s mom’s and her mom’s mom’s mom’s…..
Excuse me? Snow’s mom? It’s not nice to gift people to other people.
Hey, you know if it was Regina or Cora they’d TOTALLY give a person as a gift.
I know who I want for MY birthday!
Just in case you were looking for something to get me.
Of course Snow’s mom is good and kind and would never regift people, just tiaras. The servant Johanna was merely trying it on and got caught. Snow is PISSED; that tiara is not for a servant! Joanna apologizes, but Snow’s still being all haughty and bratty and her mom as had enough.
I will hot sauce the shit outta your mouth if I ever hear you talk to someone like that again.
Her mom tells her it doesn’t matter if someone is a servant or royalty; everyone in the kingdom deserves their love and respect.
But she put her stinky head on my tiara….
Get over yourself, my love.
Snow’s mom tells her just because they are royals it doesn’t mean that they are better than anyone else, even if they DO smell a whole helluva lot better. The upcoming ball for instance; does Snow know what’s it’s for?
Snow tells her mom that the ball is to honor her on her birthday. Nope. Wrong! It’s for Snow to honor them by showing them that she will be a kind and benevolent leader when that day comes. When she is crowned with the tiara on her birthday it will be a symbol that she will always hold good in her heart and will rule justly. Now does she understand?
Ooooooo……diamonds……
If you like it, spread it!:

Listen – they had to kill Johanna off. She’s the cook on Downton Abbey! It’s too much of a commute.
I love and hate this show at the same time. Someone please explain to me why Doofy Snow would remove the dagger from it’s hiding place when Rumpy has successfully hidden for two FREAKIN’ CENTURIES???
And seriously, Snow – if you’re surprised that Cora’s evil, you’ve inhaled too much of that purple smoke.
And the actress playing the young Snow White makes some of the most obnoxious, annoying faces I’ve ever seen. I wanna smack her.
Fantastic recap!! Love reading them!
Oh man! It’s so good to be back in a Once recap! I think I’ve finally kicked this stupid flu’s butt and now to kick real life’s! I just caught up on the last three episodes so sometime I’ll go back and read everyone’s great theories from the last two but for now I’ll keep my commentary on this episode.
We finally got to meet Snow’s mom! I wish we had gotten more of a glimpse at her and Snow but it was interesting to see who shaped Snow’s upbringing. I think I’m still stuck on Downton Abbey because all I could hear when Johanna was on screen was her yelling at Daisy, hah!
I AM SO HAPPY NEAL IS BAE! It’s so so great and brings a whole new level of intertwining for the show. It was nice to see him and Emma fall back into their old routine when going to help Rumpy, except for that pesky little fiancee….Hmmm…she will need to be handled.
Also, Adventure, must you still wonder why Hook is on my “must die” list? He stabbed my poor Rumpy! I hope he’s okay, granted he’s going to be because he’ll go back to Storybrooke only to be controlled by stupid Cora.
We’ve seen Snow get to this breaking point once before, when she thought she had lost Charming for good. I wonder what it’s going to take to pull her back from this, this time?
Keeping this short, So happy to be getting your insights again Pottymouth, I love the humor and speculation in every one of your recaps!
Okay, so … not that I think Rumple will actually die … and not that I think it was even his real dagger Snow pulled out of the clock, for that matter (I think when he said it hasn’t left his possesion in centuries he meant it literally), but if he does die, would that make Hook the new Dark One?
Cheryl:
I believe so. Isn’t it whoever kills the current Dark One gets to be the new one? Does this mean Hook will get that lovely reptilian like coating that Fairytaleland Rumpy sports.
Cyn: I have to agree with you about little Snow. She makes some of the weirdest faces in an attempt to emote.
Ahahaha it’s up!!! Hiiii Wendy!!!
Potty, I love you, For being a Flooker!!! Now back to the recap!
This week we get Cora’s back story and young Cora is being played by Rose McGowan. I like that all the actors they get to play young versions of the characters, actually resemble the main actors. And that they stick with the same actors. Then anybody else notice how tall young Snow has gotten. I found it amusing since it was earlier in timeline from the last time we saw her.
I wonder what Cora’s connection to Snow’s mother is, it definitely seemed like they had a history.
I hope some random stranger stumbles across Hook in the closet. Just to see if the person will react or have that New Yorker indifference. I think the only people who top New Yorkers’ indifference are Russians.
@WendyBird: You’re back!
Don’t you have to kill the Dark One with the dagger?
Okay, I just looked it up. Hook would have to kill Rumple with the dagger to become the Dark One.
Okay just finished, Hi Wendy!!! I’m totally over my Emma/Hook ship and I now ship Hook/Floor, it is the best ship in Once! Also, for stabbing dear Rumpy I do despise him. U fortunately we won’t get to take our anger out on him because we don’t see him for a while. No need to busy yourself with reading the other comments, long story short, the giant episode sucked, I am pissed about Charming’s name, and some other stuff…Actually yeah, read them lol! Hooray it’s the episode I was right about this week!
I can’t decide if the dagger is real but I have in full confidence they won’t kill Rumple…I’m pretty sure everyone would stop watching.
Potty, That picture of Graham, mmmmm…Cannot wait for Welcome To Storybrooke, also GusGus…Actually the rest of the season is making me get my hopes again, with Belle’s Storybrooke identity…Ruby is the Big Bad Wolf of the three little pigs…Lot’s of fun stuff and I’m curious to see how we get there.
I suspect Wendy will be incredibly ecstatic to know the finale titles so I’ll post those again for her and anyone else who may not have known: The Final two episodes are like two parts like last season and they are titled:
“Second Star to the Right”
“And Straight On Til Morning”
However, we will not meet Peter Pan and Tink until next season, but it’s possible they are in Storybrooke!
The writers pointed out that everything that motivates Regina is love, even what is going on with Cora, she just has a strange way of going and getting it. I feel like they kill Cora this week, I hope they kill Cora this week, and I imagine Regina doesn’t have such a great reaction to that.
I’m beginning to think Ariel was a giant tease, which is sad.
Things I want to discuss…Tamara…The Blue Fairy’s magic…And granted, obviously the video from last week still hasn’t gone viral, but with the absence of Greg I had an epiphany. Is it possible that we’ve taken Greg’s license plate too seriously? Maybe he’s a pilot? Maybe he’s a twin and that’s who Her is since the real Greg Mendel is the father of genetics…Maybe they’re like Chip and Dale or Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum?!
That’s all for now I guess…Wendy, what’s your tumblr?
Oh Sagi! I want to know the history between Cora and Queen Eva too! And if someone gives Hook some pizza, he’ll be fine, broken leg and all. Pizza makes everything better! And it doesn’t abandon you like Emma does, twice.
Does anyone know where I can watch all episodes online? I don’t want to have to go out and buy the season DVD just to catch up. I also don’t want to upgrade my cable just to get streampix or what ever it is called where I can watch every episode of every tv show in the past 15 yrs.
I So want to comment on the past couple shows but I am so far behind that it would be just dumb cause I have so many questions. Thanks
Hey Wendy!! Glad to see you back!
@thisbuggs4u: 1channel.ch has it and their uploads are usually pretty good.
It’s nice to know that “Mrs. Patmore” still has a heart on Downton Abbey. Nice to see the actress play something else for a change tho’.
SagKim: I’M BACK IN ACTION! New and well, no longer diseased! Except maybe cooties.
Okay so here’s a question, if Rumpy dies, does the dark one no longer exist?
Adventure: HIIII! Ive missed you so! It’s about time you got off that ship and boarded the S.S. Go die Hook! It’s a very nice ship, we have shuffleboard. When I saw the Jack thing I was like \OOO ADVENTURES GONNA BE MAD\ And I was right! They really need to tell us who Charming is soon.
Adventure you are right. I AM SQUEALING WITH JOY! We currently have Peter Pan in at work and everyone’s shocked by how well I can quote it. My favorite line will forever be \We were only trying to drown her\ Neal knowing who hook is and how to steer the Jolly Roger makes me think he’s tied to Neverland. I know I’m late on that but I’m here now!
I don’t think we’re ever getting rid of Cora *dramatic sigh*
Which tumblr do you want? I have a couple haha, but they all have to do with the inhabitants of neverland in their name.
Buggs: Thank you muchly! I watch all the episodes on ABC.com but I know they take down episodes after awhile. The first season is on Netflix and the second season should follow when it ends but I know you can buy a season pass on Itunes too.
My captcha is Naboo Naboo. Now I want to watch The Mighty Boosh.
Technically, since Rumple doesn’t have his powers he isn’t the Dark One and that’s why he can be killed, so if the spirit/magic/whatever you want to call it is not currently present in Rumple doesn’t that sort of mean there is no Dark One right now? Does he get his powers back once he returns to Storybrooke? If he does then he should be able to heal himself and then he can’t die…I bet that’s exactly what happens at the last minute!!! Either that or he regenerates into David Tennant(who I chose because he’s also Scottish and NOT because I was making a reference to another show!), which is something I could totally get used to, except I love Robert Carlyle and seriously if they kill him, Eddy and Adam are going to be receiving so very strongly worded tweets!
Wendy, I’ve missed you too! The flu stinks! But you’re back! I like the ship, it’s snazzy. You’re reminding me of my favorite quote from Pirates of the Caribbean, “And then they made me their chief”… I actually changed my theory last minute and it was glorious and clever and the writers were just like “Oh by the way it’s just David.” And I was like BOOOOO!!! Like the hag in Princess Bride but like for a week, I got mad at my friend when I had suggested that I felt like that’s exactly what they would do and then she tried to claim that she right all along an it was just David and I tried to explain that’s not a good thing and the season was almost ruined by that episode but they bounced back though I’m still mad at the writers for dangling such a delicious thing like a mysterious name and then snatching it away and I probably would have yelled at them if I had gone to PaleyFest but mostly I’m sad that he doesn’t seem to be a part of any other fairy tale…Eh, when you get the chance you should check that recap and probably the recap right before and you can see me seethe…I’m moving on from it, hoping they never do something like that again.
You quoting Peter Pan is reminding me of this great video I saw on YouTube, someone walked around Disneyland on Valentine’s Day and asked the Princesses and Princes what they’re doing, and Alice and Tink and Wendy and Cinderella’s step family is in it, it’s adorable and hilarious! Have you seen it? I’ll post the link! http://youtu.be/cneTNa5rYTI
You’re never late, we are all just incredibly early. Since we are supposed to learn more about Neal’s past in other lands and visit that land I suspect Neal was a lost boy…I have some questions and concerns regarding this “going to other magical lands when the bean was supposed to take Bae to a land without magic and that’s why Rumple created the curse” business I feel like I’ve voiced them a few times and might annoy everyone if I keep asking. Also, it’s a possibility that actual Peter Pan is in fact a teen, which would be great for Once!
If they don’t get rid of Cora but they kill off “one of our own” this week them who is dying? Because it’s not Charming, Snow, Emma, Henry, Rumple, Regina, Neal, Hook or Belle?! It only seems logical! That’s what Once does, we learn Cora’s past, we understand her a little better, we see true humanity she and Regina have a legitimate tender moment and then she dies and we’re left in shock and it’s all tears and shouting and ringing in your ears and I’m tempering Graham and if they do that to me again I’m going to flip out!!! Granted how can Cora die? Where art thou heart of Cora?
Whichever Tumblr you want! How do you manage more than one?! I spend way too much time on the site, just using the one I have! lol!
ABC does take down the episodes after a while. That’s a result of the writers’ strike years ago and it’s important to keep the writers happy.
Don’t worry Thisbuggs4u, it gets less confusing and then confusing again and then sad and then everything starts to calm down and they rip the rug out from under you, but you get used to it and you accept it’s the way of Once, happy viewing ;-P
My, my, Hook finally gets to do something bad again. Other then shooting women and making out with the floor. The later seems to be his specialty. How did he even know where to find the *Gold clan* anyhow??? How did he get there so fast??? Unless maybe his ship can fly too. And what keeps other ships from running into it since it cant be seen???
Charming is still true to his dipshit self. Snow’s heart turning black might make her likable after all. Well she needs to get past this tomboy look she so enjoys sporting. I think she is way better looking with long hair. The previews say that one of the major characters is gonna bite the big one. Could this by chance be Snow killing Cora??? Now that I would like to see!!! Even if I do side with the bad guys. Cora has done enough to Snow that killing her in my mind would only be fair. You can’t just go killing somebodys mom and then their servant and just get away with it scott free. Will she put another arrow in Charming just for the hell of it??? One can only hope!!!
Now since Rumpty Dumpty is the Dark One. It seems to me that the Dark One can only be killed in a specific way. So just making it back to Storybrooke is his cure. Right??? Will Henry ever be able to call Rumpty Dumpty *Grampa* or what??? As far as the dagger goes. I thought that it might be a fake one at first. But Gold did have it buried at one time. So as far as him saying he has always had it in his possession to me means that no one else has had it since he aquired it. Unlike the last feller who had it. I just think that them sneaky assed Charmings are going to figure out a way of getting it back somehow. That might be when Cora meets her demise by Snow. If that is even what happens. Because I have speculated lots of things to happen that for some odd reason never came to fruition…..
Whoo boy—allergies in overtime when Snow and Eva were making their good-byes. Little Snow could be GG’s daughter in real life–the resemblance is so strong.
heehee —but in a good way—Rumpy’s wound has gold powder (looks like) in it—-
And Hook is in his fairy-tale pirate clothes–love that—-And damn-that is one single-minded pirate!!!!!
Ginny tweeted me! Excuse me, I’ll be over there fangirling, which basically means squeeing incessantly.
*Excuse any typos I’m typing this on my Kindle. My laptop is getting its hard drive replace which is costing me $240. (- -;)
OUAT’s FB page posted a picture of Emma holding a knife to Regina’s throat. And a picture of Nealfire, Emma, and Charming in what looks like Gold’s shop. So Sunday seems like it’s going to be intense.
Has anybody notice there has been a lot of reconciliation, and people wanting to reconcile this season?
@Adventure: What did she say?
Mike, ABC/Disney is basically letting the writers do what they want, which means the characters aren’t be preserved as so wholesome and this is the week that we see the writers take it that far so I’d like to see Snow kill Cora. I’d like to see where that takes us since Regina has spent so much time and energy blaming Snow for Daniel’s death. If two sides are at war but one side can play just as dirty as the other what kind of resolution can there be. I’m reminded of one of the most profound Harry Potter quotes. The Prime Minister asked Cornelius Fudge why they can’t just use magic against Voldemort and Fudge responds, “The trouble is, the other side can do magic too, Prime Minister”
Cawfee, I’m sure not one person noticed Hook running through NYC in Pirate clothes.
Sagi, Well hopefully it’s worth the money and your computer works better than ever! There were set photos from a while back, Charming gets thrown out the window, I think Snow does too, Neal is seen standing outside with a sword at one point, it’s definitely going to be intense!
Could it be because reconciliation is sort of a product of abandonment, which is always a major theme with Once? Though Regina wanting to reconcile with Henry is a completely different thing…Maybe it has to do with how genuine the reconciliation is…Like Rumple genuinely wants Bae back but Cora has an ulterior motive to having Regina on her side.
Also, I forgot to mention how weird it is that Baliee Madison is older than when she first met Regina an had technically already lost her mother.
Ginny was talking about her favorite novels and I mentioned one of mine and she responded with how she had a hard time picking the books she choose and even the hashtag she used, we had a tweet convo about literature!!! There are very few things that are better!
too early to kill Rumpy—Belle and Bae story-lines are still unresolved. Maybe sleeping curse??? Putting him in to SB General puts him near Belle and (GASP!!!!) Greg and his phone.
How about Cora and Eva (did they actually say Snow’s mom’s name??) as: Snow-White and Rose Red ?? They could be Miller’s daughters–and YES !!!! Didnt we see that coming???? squeeeee
Giving Wendy her “cooty” shot—back in action!!! If Rumpy dies ( and I am in so much denial over that happening its scary) then the dagger would be Hook’s b/c he killed Rumpy–or starting the ball rolling as it were.
@ 15 I Want– I hate when they say “One of their own…”–I think it means that someone in SB–not one of our beloved characters. Who is expenadable??? I hope not a dwarf–Stealthy and Sneezy ( I think who went over the town line)—we cant spare anymore. I think Nealfire is a Lost Boy too, only one of him numerous characters. I wondered if Tamara is Tink or Tigerlilly—but since Neal isnt Peter Pan its an abandoned theory (maybe for now).
Cannot wait to see Snow go to the dark side——its going to get ugly!!!
,
Oh and other question about people who left SB——Kathryn Nolan, Ashley/Cinderella—-can they return?? Are their memories gone??
Oh hell—it is still snowing here–and I have to go and reshovel–total suckage.
No–”total suckage” is not my cap code but it should be.
What can Storybrooke general do for Rumple? And with Cora and Regina in possession if the dagger Rumple should stay away from public areas and especially from Belle!
I don’t think they actually said her name but it’s definitely her name. That’s interesting, I like that idea…Cora and Eva can’t be related though, that just screws with the family tree way way way too much! As it is in this episode we’re getting some Cora/Rumple and that means that Henry’s Step-Great Grandmother and his Grandfather had a thing!
Potty, Regina gets some action in Welcome to Storybrooke, I saw a spoilery pic of her and Graham in bed. No need for an actual recap that week, just screen cap every scene Graham is in, we’ll get the idea!
Hook couldn’t handle being the Dark One!
I would agree that it could be someone expendable but according to WetPaint it’s kind of a BFD who gets it and there “are widespread consequences”…I’m trying not to panic!
I like to think of Tamara as someone who knows nothing of Neal’s past and is going to cause about as much problems as Greg…They’re like hang nails, GTFO!
Ashley never left Storybrooke, she had the baby and she and Thomas ended up together against his father’s wishes. And Kathryn never left either, she was held all bewitched and betwixted and bewildered but she ended up face down in the mud for Ruby to find and shriek like a banshee, also she was reunited with her statue boyfriend and the Charming was going to take the apartment in Boston but then the curse broke and it was all “Snow!” and “Charming!” and running and kissing and purple magic smoke.
We didn’t get snowed on too badly, it’s very wet.
S@Adventure: I hope so too. I’m cringing at the thought of having to download and reinstall everything though. Good thing Spring Break’s coming up.
I’m jealous of your conversation with Ginny. I really need to start using my twitter.
I was thinking the other day how great it would be is Cora and Eva were cousins. Just so the family tree would be even more messed up. They’re oyalty they’re suppose to have a messed up family tree.
*royalty
Sagi, Did you have time to back everything up?
It’s not the first time one of them have tweeted me but it’s Ginny and she’s just like us! The Once cast is awesome with tweeting fans! They’re just awesome in general.
Cousins works for me, that makes sense, it’s not something Regina would necessary know, it makes sense for why Cora would want to take the throne away from Eva…This would definitely make for a great dynamic and is very royal. Any reason for Rose McGowen and Rena Sofer to come back sounds good to me…Cora is considerably older than Eva too, so maybe she knew something Eva didn’t. Interesting too that Cora poisoned Eva but that’s part of Snow’s story, Regina didn’t poison Snow, she cursed her. That’s a really stark difference between the lengths Cora and Regina will go…I’m not sure Cora has any humanity left, but I’m curious what led her to that point and will Regina find herself at the same summit?
@Adventure: I had time to back up the important things.
I think Regina is starting to be reminded about the extent of her mother’s cruelty. I think she’ll realize how much like her mother she’s becoming, and it’ll scare her.
I just saw a sneak peek of the episode. Snowing met the others at the dock. And Henry starts babbling about how he got to sail and how his dad taught him. Nealfire half raises his hand and is like “That’s me.” And Charming just stares at him without saying a word. Nothing like meeting the parents of the girl you knocked up and sent to prison. And then Snowing argue some more about killing Cora.
I hope it scares Regina but I think it might spur her on in some ways…Like how Snow was being good to make her mother proud, Regina might want to see how far she get, feeding on Cora’s legacy of achieving power. She only has Henry to lose and she’s already lost him in so many ways, power might be just what Regina thinks she wants and needs.
Sounds like a great clip, I’ll have to check it out!!! Charming can’t exactly punch Neal, do they know she went to jail because of him? I imagine if they did there would be no question. Charming would show us those arms of his and deck him! It would be better than Whale!!! They better not argue for too long or someone else is going to die and that’s the last thing Snow wants…I’m just curious what Snow’s end game is because Cora doesn’t keep her heart in her chest, so where is it? If Snow pushes Cora over the town line and she loses her powers can she then be killed? Does it count if her actual heart exists somewhere else?! So many questions!!!
So Adam Horowitz addressed the Regina raping Graham issue on Twitter earlier…Wait what?! Did I miss something?
First off I would like to thank PottyMouth for another absolutely fantastic recap. You are the best of the best!!! Now I sure can’t see Rumty Dumpty as the one who dies next week. Unless the series is over. I just don’t see that happening. Really the only person I can see that is expendable would be Cora. Since they make a point of saying, *One of their own.* I take it that it must be one of the more major characters. So of the more major players who can be parted with the easiest??? They definitely can’t get rid of the *Hot Shots* that being Rumpty, Regina, Emma, Snow, Charming or Henry. So to me the only two that are left are Nealfire and Cora. Since the show isn’t really centering around any of the others at this time. Like Granny and Red or the Dwarfs or Belle or Gary even. So narrowing down the field of players it only makes sense that Cora is the easiest to let go.
But how does one go about killing a Wicked Witch that has no heart??? This cannot be an easy task. Or can it??? In the Wizard of Oz two witches died. The first was because the house landed on her. The second was because she had water poured on her. So with that I wonder if it could be as simple as a pail of water??? I sure wouldn’t want to be that poor sucker who threw the water on her and it didn’t work!!! If it was to be Charming, the first story that comes to mind is, *The Frog Prince.* HAHAHAHahahahaaaa!!!
Regina took Graham’s heart so he didn’t have control over his actions. So the sex wasn’t consensual.
Maybes they have to decapitate Cora like a zombie.
But he also said they had free will in Storybrooke and Regina didn’t use his heart like that there…Maybe in FairyTale Land but we didn’t see any of that…Maybe I’m being naive but this point seems to be taking it a little overboard and it just seems like these people are picking at the show for the sake of picking at something successful…They’ve been receiving a lot of hate since PaleyFest but I just don’t see the show like these people who are complaining. I get Regina has done some terrible things, things we’ll never fully know the extent of but I mean to make it into something so seemingly scandalous. Graham was drawn to Regina. It was kind of a corrupt town so of course the sheriff and the mayor would be in each other’s pocket. Emma went and changed things but that’s just it, when it came down to it Graham choose Emma, that’s what is significant. I mean if you take it that far then what about the tryst between Mary Margaret and Whale? THEY WERE CURSED!!! But that was the point, the curse was supposed to make Regina happy, help her not be lonely…Graham is still a guy, I’m pretty sure he wasn’t complaining about the arrangement. That’s not to be insensitive and say that whatever happened in FairyTale Land was okay because it certainly wasn’t but sheesh! It’s a family show!
@ sagittariuskim Regina would probably have the Whale of Frankenstein sow it back on for her.
I don’t rally know any Fairy Tales where the Witch really gets whats coming to her. I imagine if I knew a few more Fairy Tales that it would help out. Don’t count out the water thing just yet. I just don’t see a house landing on her. But then again I don’t think that first Witch in the Wizard of Oz was thinking about a house falling on her either.
@ iwanna I really think that it is literally impossible for a woman to actually rape a man. I will spare you the details but being a man I think it kind of makes me a little knowledgable in this matter.
So if Graham was being raped, it couldn’t have been of his own accord…..
Mike, I didn’t want to get into the possibility or impossibility, I was attempting to be diplomatic since it seems people are genuinely offended by what seems to be considered fact. Though something twisted of the sort did occur in True Blood but that’s neither here nor there. I don’t see what these people are seeing. It’s one thing to look deeper into the characters and the story like we do but it’s something else entirely to take it to a place that I just think the show wouldn’t go near. This isn’t Once Upon A Desperate Housewife (though I’m sure Marc Cherry is watching ABC and wondering why he didn’t think if that!) or Grey’s Anatomy where it’s all about the drama and issues are brought up for no other purpose than the drama. This is a show about family for families. That’s why it’s on at 8. So for people to be hating on it because they think someone happened that may or may not have happened is just absurd to me. Regina is evil but FairyTale Land she tried to reinvent herself. Graham choose her when she was an option. Sure she’s manipulative but just because he didn’t remember WHO she was or WHAT she’d done by taking his heart does not mean he didn’t know what he was DOING. Nothing was being done to him. There was no magic in Storybrooke then. He wasn’t drawn to her BECAUSE she had his heart he was drawn to her because he’s a Hunter and I’m sure Regina put up a good chase. The only time she used his heart against him was when she killed him. Apparently people have a problem with how they portray adoption. Maybe I shouldn’t bother trying to understand where the haters are coming from.
Some people think the show takes themselves too seriously, other people take the show too seriously. I don’t think it’s campy but it is Disney and that says everything. However, if they ever they should never ever do a musical episode, ever!!!
The one funny thing Adam did say is that the characters have probably seen the Disney versions of their stories because Disney exists in Storybrooke(Henry has a Tron lunch box).
Also, Mike, I like the idea of the water. They’ve brought up Oz a lot this season. It’s a simple solution and yet not obvious. I’d like to see Cora have a house fall on her and then see Regina become the Wicked Witch of the West but the ruby slippers are in Rumple’s shop so unless Cora steals them she’s probably not the Wicked Witch of the east…If Snow does it that makes her Dorothy…but Snow hasn’t been to any other worlds and Oz is definitely another world. In any case, I’m all for an Oz reference anyway we can get it and with Greg nearby I’m not sure flying houses are such a good idea, water is much less ostentatious.
After*** FairyTale Land…
Also, not that I miss them, but with everything going on I’m curious to see how they bring back Aurora and Mulan next season since I can’t see us seeing them again this season but they did leave off at an interesting point!
Hi everyone! Longtime reader, first time poster
Love the show, the recaps, and reading everyone’s comments. I had to sign up for an account just to say that I think the little girl who plays young Snow is a fantastic actress! She actually made me tear up when her mom died. I saw her in Just Go With It and I think she stole the show in that movie!
I’m dreading Sunday night because I don’t want anyone killed off (well maybe Cora). I’m not as excited about Peter Pan entering the story, I was never that big into Peter Pan. I really hope Rumpy stays “good”, I really love his character!
Love the recaps and comments as much as the show. Could Rumpy’s dagger be in his cane? It is always with him.
On a side note…love all the other movie references (ie Princess Bride). I would really recommend the 10th Kingdom and the True Story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Oh and iwantadventure perfect idea for the how in Oz to fall on Cora
@iwanna You are crazy funny!!! I love reading your posts. Don’t be letting them haters get in your head. Some folks just love to hate. Mainly just for attention because they don’t know no other way of getting it. So relax and let them haters do all the stressing. It’s nothing but a silly TV show so to go getting yer panties in a wad about what a fictional character may or may not have even done is just silly. So don’t let bad win darlin’ because in the end. Good *always* wins!!!!!
Ariesjenjen, WELCOME!!! I don’t like that they have to kill someone either, even Cora. She’s horrible and evil but she’s been making things really interesting around Storybrooke. But after the Archie fake out someone is really going to meet their demise, the writers thrive on this too.
And it looks like they’re really going to do us in with the Rumple emotion. Apparently he has some really emotional moments with three different characters. I saw a clip of what Rumple says to Belle and it is intense and I foresee a lot of tissues being used. They can’t kill him though, they just can’t! Henry will use his magic and stop the poison…Oh! I like that, it’ll really play well into the Rumple/Henry “undoing” dynamic.
Prairie Dawn, That’s actually genius. I fully support that theory. I loved The 10th Kingdom. I haven’t seen it since that first time it aired years and years ago but it’s Netflix, I’ll have to watch it again!
Wouldn’t it be great if the house that fell on Cora was from Up?! I have this fantastic vision of a Golden Retiever barreling out of the door like Dug!!! http://www.justjared.com/photo-gallery/2796866/ginnifer-goodwin-home-is-her-heaven-15/ YESSSSSS!?!
Mike, Wow thanks for the super awesome compliment! I just had no idea people felt so strongly. I prefer your dislike of the Charmings. I don’t watch TV so seriously and I like to imagine I enjoy what I watch much more than these people do. I’m fully confident as long as the show doesn’t veer off into Lost that the haters won’t turn people off from watching so it’s not like we have to worry about viewership. Team Good all the way!!!
@ iwanna I don’t really dislike the Charming Clan as much as I make out to. Sure wouldn’t be much of a show without them!!! I just found myself liking the evil/bad characters a little more. Of course Regina’s beauty drew me in like a Cat to a Mouse. Plus Lana can play the part really good too. Especially when it get real intense like with Rumpty Dumpty a few times. She is one of the best when it comes to facial expressions. I suppose that is my opinion anyway. Of course Robert Carlyle is totally in a league of his own. Not saying that Goodwin, Morrison and Josh Dallas don’t bring anything to the table, because the definitely do.
The show itself could stand a little improvement but I really don’t know where. All in all it’s a pretty good little show if you ask me. There can’t possibly be very much to hate about it. It’s a very easy show to be able to keep up with. It’s also not so far out there that a person can’t even wrap their mind around whats going on. They seem to keep it pretty simple so even simple minded people like me can still understand whats going on. So the people who dislike the show must not watch it very much. Because why in the world would you watch something that you don’t even like?????
I’ll say it….I ignore the lack of continuity in some of the plot lines , but we have to consider that I watched Fringe in real time no matter what time slot it was in(same goes for Heroes). I stay with the show because I adore the actors, Loved Snow since she was on Big Love, Emma since House and Rumpy since Stargate. Add a few Lost characters except my babybooboo Hurly aka Anton he sucks. I love Lana, she is an awesome actress and I hope she will get an award for her great facial expressions(and acting, but I love her facial expressions).
For some reason I don’t think Henry is the ‘child’ that the seer was talking about, dunno thinking it might be Neal(the death if it’s not Cora). I want to see Coal Black, I thought when she switched to her last season it was hilarious. I have liked Henry this season but I don’t like his attitude with the whole ‘lying thing’.
I have more to say but I’ll save it for when the Zinny isn’t on weekend level :0)
Just a passing thought here. So watch out because my head might explode. Anyways, Charming wouldn’t let Snow kill Regina because if she did she would have to take on all the bad things that Regina was. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe it was something like that anyways. So by all rights, if Snow kills Cora the same thing should happen. Right??? I could be wrong here because I dwell in the realm of wrong most of the time. Believe me, I’m used to it…..
@20 I Want–please tell mwhat GG’s fave novels are–geek that I am I have a stack of books (20 or more–seriously gasmi) and would love to know her faves.
And I think Tamara is “normal” too–Altho NYC is the most magical place in the world–Nealfire is leading his non-magic life. At least up until the postcard from August arrived.
@24 Sagi– cousins could work–singing the Patty Duke Show theme song–But they’re cooooouuusssinnsssssss—identical cousins that you’ll finnnddddddd……
B/c of the kissed fingers when Cora made her final good-bye that says a strong relationship to me. But I see alot of things that ar not necessarily there (lololol) so it could have been akin to dancing on someone’s grave.
@29 I Want–what??? Regina ????? What??????????????????
Didnt she strongly seduce (for lack of better phrasing) Graham as tribution for him not killing Snow??? We nee dhim back on The Show so we can clear all this up–I think at least 12 epsiodes–shirt optional–so we can flesh–oops–flesh-who said flesh??? I mean sort thru all this mish-mosh.
oops– retribution
But good point– Cora was Queen of Hearts—taking a heart was the the first thing Rumpy taught Regina and was a test of sorts. Anf there are all the hearts kept in the casks–hhhhmmmmmm.
@ 37 ariesjenjen–Hi–welcome!!!!!!!!!!
@ 38 Prairie Dawn– hi hon– ar you new as well??? I dont recognize you. Welcome!!!
@ 42 Moli—- I think its Nealfire as the Seer’s prophesied one—the one to break Rumpy would be the true love of his son. I mean hell–no one suspects Belle is really a boy do they????? Of course not—I see Mike nodding his head at the thought-lol
And the “child” could be Emma–the one who made it thru the portal, or the child that Rumpy was promised from the Miller’s daughter which is Regina?????
ooooooooooooooooooo speculation-ize ya’ll!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lordy–apologies gasmi–I am on my third cawfee and I seem to be in over-drive. I better tone it down. I have a family party today that will hopefully break up early so I can watch The Show.
Mike, I feel like Once has done a superb job of taking the evil characters, rising them up as vigilante-type heroes and then twisting that whole idea on it’s head. Because love is the fundamental theme there’s of course the good side who deserves their happy ending. Except Once has proven that that’s far from the true. No one side is more deserving than anyone and no one side is truly more good or bad than the other. I like my Charming’s and the evil characters. I started watching the show for the premise alone not even originally caring about the actors(though I’m pretty sure Ginny would play me in the movie version of my life, not that we look so much a like but I just always identify most with her characters in movies she’s in, though, the movie of my life would be incredibly boring and unless I marry Josh Dallas not worth writing) of course I especially appreciated that they had Kristen from True Blood play Malificent and I can’t wait until we get more if her! Anyway, team bad on this show is hard not to like. They assembled the most superb actors. Lana is unbelievable and there are no more words to describe Robert Carlyle. They outshine everyone, every episode. Though Jennifer Morrison gets honorable mention because I did a paper on her body language in Once and she’s very consistent, her face when she thinks Henry is dead is just heartbreaking and compared to Regina it’s a lot more intense, which for her character, who builds up wall after wall in the hopes of keeping people distant to show so much emotion is just crazy…Also that’s the first time Henry calls her mom and then I blubber like a baby for the next hour. Most shows could stand improvement, lucky for Once the acting masks most continuity and since the show is so new I’m willing to accept any continuity errors as something that will be fixed in the future. Perhaps if people don’t follow it they make up their own assumptions but I know tons and tons of people who need to watch every week. It’s a family show, they get the kiddies (and well everyone else too) with the aesthetically pleasing costumes and the whole notion of fairy tales in our land. And the adults get the added benefit of excellent plot lines. But I don’t really know what it’s like to watch with kids, actually I’m curious, what do kids like about it aside from being able to watch a show with mommy and daddy that everyone can enjoy?
Interesting point about Snow, I can’t see Snow getting power hungry like Cora but I’m not sure what effect it will have on Snow. She has something that Cora never had, to the best of our knowledge, she has her true love and the love of her daughter and her grandson, that has to be able to bring her back from the darkness…Hmmm…Cora kind of wins if Snow turns dark because she wants to turn Snow’s heart black…This is getting very complicated.
Moli, I’m sure Neal doesn’t die, Michael Raymond James tweeted a few weeks ago before we knew he was Bae that he’s in the rest of the season. But Neal couldn’t bring Rumple to his son…I like the idea of it being Henry and I don’t…However, after PaleyFest I’m pretty sure it is Henry though Rumple’s assumption have been wrong and I’m all for being led on because this whole plot point is so juicy and can twist in so many ways.
Cawfee, She started with her he Top Five Books for that day, but then people started responding with their favorite books and she would say that that is on a bigger list or a different list, she’s an avid reader, which is just super cool. Her original tweet included, ” The Red Tent, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Franny & Zooey, Pride & Prejudice, Lolita; runner up: The Time Traveler’s Wife. YOU???”…My list couldn’t even begin to fit in a tweet and I’m glad I was decisive an picked one with an additional comment because even as I’m typing this I’m remembering more favorites.
Apparently like everything else Tamara is going to surprise us…I’d really rather show go away, I don’t want to get to know her or see her freak out over Neal not being Neal and Neal having a son and Neal sending his baby mama to jail and Neal actually being several hundred years old and formally from FairyTale Land…And I really don’t want her to be Tink!!! I want a sassy little blonde who is pining for Peter’s attention!
Are sure, Cawfee, 12 episodes will be enough? I mean there’s so much explaining to do shirtlessness to be had…I mean that makes sense to me, the retribution thing, but seriously, Graham is hot, who wouldn’t want to seduce him?! Regina probably would have seduces him if he had killed Snow…That certainly would have gotten her going lol! But that’s just it, seduction was involved…Would Graham really turn down a beautiful woman like Regina? Especially since she’s the Queen?! Doesn’t that imply consent as opposed to what the haters are out there assuming?!
I am getting super nervous for this death, good thing it’s on tonight and not two million weeks from now.
So I bought some Once jewelry on Etsy. I got a necklace that says “I will always find you.” and a ring that says “All magic comes with a price. ”
@Cawfee: You’re not alone I also have huge stack of books. And I just keep buying more. I’m also a 23 year old who wants to become a librarian. I’m trying to get my stuff together to apply to my schools Library Studies grad. program.
I think there’s a personal relationship between Cora and Snow’s mom, because I can’t see Cora gloating over some random nobody’s corpse.
@Adventure: I’m sorry I wasn’t try to imply the rape theorist were right. Just trying point out where they were getting their idea from. Mike’s right don’t waste time on the haters. Don’t let them ruin something you love. I say this as a Twilight fan.
So it turns out my theory about Rumple being Regina’s father wasn’t that crazy. It was almost a possibility.
Sagi, What you were saying made sense, I was just shocked people took it too that place. I couldn’t let the haters ruin my show, it’s mine because I love it lol!
Sooo emotional! Except Cora, I knew she had no humanity!!!
That was a great ending to the horrible problem. In theory she shouldn”t be blamed for the ‘ending’, it was left in someone else’s hands.
I want to see Belle’s reaction when she finds out Rumple isn’t dead. And Nealfire’s reaction when he sees Belle.
I wonder when Regina’s going find out that Rumple is Henry’s grandfather.
Those are good ‘I wanna see’s'@sag
Moli, But Regina’s favorite thing is blame Snow for everything. Snow didn’t kill Daniel but Regina blamed her to the point of wanting her dead. This episode was full of tons of irony, Regina had a part in killing both her parents, one involved the taking of Henry’s heart, the other involved the returning of Cora’s. the candle that Cora showed young Snow is what ultimately led to Cora’s death. Snow has finally gotten her revenge on Cora killing her mother. Also, I agree those are excellent “I want see’s”, Sagi!!! One more thing Moli, I know you don’t like Henry’s attitude regarding the lying but Bae wasn’t forgiving Rumple but he wasn’t abandoning him either, in Henry’s case he needs a dose of reality to realize that a tiny lie from Emma because she was trying to protect him is nothing in the bigger scheme of things. Family is all anyone has at the end…I’m not sure how I feel about darker Snow if she runs and starts feeling guilty and Regina gets to terrorize everyone again. She made her choice, she should own it!
I find it most interesting that Henry and Cora never crossed paths during this whole thing, Cora really didn’t understand Regina’s end game until the very last moment…
Holy Carp!!! Was a very intense episode for sure. It seemed more like a season ender to me. It wrapped up a bunch of questions I had anyway. I thought it was one of the best yet. Which renews my faith in the writers and producers. I just didn’t get as to why Cora died after her heart was replaced??? But I did miss some of the conversation between Rumpty Dumpty and Snow about the candle.
I can’t help but to think about poor Hook. He is stuck in a closet in NYC and has no idea that his ship has been stolen. So even when he gets out of the predicament he is in. How is he ever going to get out of New York without his ship??? Especially in them clothes!!!
Now, was I mistaken when I seen in the previews that it was Snow’s heart that Regina was taking out??? It went by so fast and I was yapping my mouth about how great the show was that I wasn’t really sure exactly what I saw. It was an out of the corner of my eye kind of thing…..
Bae IS Peter Pan.
Mike, It really could have been the finale? Which has me worried for the actually finally. Last season’s cliffhanger wasn’t so intense, it was exciting but I feel like a huge bomb(possibly a literal one, which is totally possible, Wisteria Lane was a sucky place to live and that was one street!)is going to be dropped right as this season ends. At least it wasn’t another great episode and then hiatus! It answered quite a few questions? Who’s answers really weren’t so mysterious.
Hook can get back, easily! He just needs a happy thought, and he can fly back!!! Joking aside, no one would question his guy liner and pirate clothes. Not one New Yorker. They’ll ask him where he’s from and to say funny words in his accent but no one would care that he’s dressed like that. Granted, I can’t discuss the details but I have to be honest, I may or may not have given Hook a ride back to Storybrooke, favors of a particular nature may or may not have been exchanged. I wonder if he’ll care that Cora is dead…
I’ll have to check out the previews again and see but I’m willing to bet it’s some kind of fake out…Rumple’s name on the dagger(which is not a knife!!!) was kind of like that. Also, next week we go back in time to cursed Storybrooke, the heart situation could be anything!
Iwanna, you are right, Regina loves to blame Snow for everything. I think with the candle thing, Cora would have died as soon as Snow blew the candle out had she had her heart in her. When Regina placed it back in her chest, the spell was enacted. Guys did you LOVE Regina’s face when she gave Cora her heart back….so much love and hope, I felt the yearning through the television screen…Lana can emote so well.
@ iwanna They for sure are going to have to out do even themselves to do better then this episode was for the season finale!!! I also hate them in betweens. It’s hard enough to have to wait a week, especially when they leave you hanging. But when they make you wait a week or two in between the episodes it can be kind of a killer. My old brain just don’t work like it used to and if it’s like three weeks in between. I forget to much!!!
One thing that was kind of unsettling to me was the tripping. I don’t quite get how Snow’s Mother could have been so unkind. Then to be more worried about her shoe then the welfare of someone just seemed way out of character. I imagine that story line is done and we may never know. It just seemed like last week they portrayed her as someone who was so kind that she wouldn’t have a mean bone in her body. I suppose that they were just trying to show that even the kindest of people can be cruel at one perticular time in their lives. A kind of fleshing her out I guess.
Last but not least. Can this show be any more bias??? I do understand that the show is basically female orientated. I must say though that this episode was totally that a way!!! I actually felt that Charming got the raw end of the stick when they just tossed his ass right out the door and that be that!!! Actually now that I think about it, it is kind of typical Charming at that.
OK, I know, but one last thing. What is up with Emma’s magic??? It just seemed like it was way to easy for Cora and Regina to bust through that door. Considering she had two different magic things at the door to try and keep them out. It should have taken a little more to get in then what it did. Or is it that her magic is so far in the beginning stages that it’s not very effective just yet?????
@ iwanna I really liked you giving Hook a ride back to Storybrooke!!! Good for you. I wish I could have been there. Well not for the favors part anyways!!!
Moli, What I meant by Regina returning Cora’s heart is the demise of both of Regina’s parents was through love. Henry gave his to Regina so she could enact the curse and find happiness among people who did not know who they were, knowing full well that one day the curse would be broken and she would have to face reality. Regina so desperately wanted Cora’s love that she didn’t consider what Snow might have done. The urge was too strong. I was trying to say that it’s interesting because in the end Regina’s heart is the one broken again, but I guess that got lost in translation. That scene was amazing though! She was ready to be loved and the saddest part is Cora was ready to love her. Regina got a shinning thirty seconds of love from Cora, and for once everything they’d done to each other didn’t matter. Also interesting how Cora didn’t want to see Regina run away with Daniel considering she’d done almost the same thing. It’s sad too because at one point early on Regina and Rumple were aligned against Cora’s return to Storybrooke.
Mike, They can do anything! Because the curse is broken and magic is in Storybrooke, until it gets closer we can’t even begin to imagine, except that Neverland is involved in some way.
That was Snow’s mother who tripped Cora?!
Well Charming had to be tossed out for plot purposes so he could be the one to find Snow having a panic attack…It was strange that Emma thought she was with Charming…I’m pretty sure she would have noticed both her mother and her father being tossed out of the window.
I think that dark magic, especially two people using it might have an easier time against Emma’s spell…Though it is interesting, I’d like to see how strong Emma’s spell would be if Henry needed protecting.
I don’t think the tripping was out of character. Ava wasn’t the same person. It was suppose to show how much she’d grown and changed. And it seems like it was suppose to parallel Snow’s behavior. And show that Ava didn’t want her daughter to make the same mistakes she did. And it makes sense why Cora chose to kill her. She humiliated Cora and then becomes queen. While for Cora the throne is practically untouchable. And on top of that Cora has to listen to people praise Ava for being kind and good. While she still remembers the person Ava used to be.
Huh! I totally missed her name so didn’t make the connection that that was Queen Eva…Makes sense why Cora was intent on killing her…There’s a learning curve with these royals, Snow was just younger when she learned to be “good”.
So my coworker says what if its TinkerBael, when told her i didn’t want Nealfire to also be Peter Pan.
Hey kids—–my OnDemand isnt working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully it will be sorted out asap and I can watch the episode. I read a recap so I know what happened but DAMN–looks like this Sunday we are really in for something!!!!!!
@ 58 Mike– I think Emma isnt used to having magic so its not her immediate “go to”
@ 55 Linda S– do you think so???? I think he is a Lost Boy and I have other characters in mind for him too (lol)
@ 60 I Want— the motivation or impetus ( I think thats the word I want) for spells is for Emma love.
That of course would extend to protecting her loved ones.
Can Snow cast spells????????
@ 63 Moli– COOL!!!!! You guys know I am waiting for gender-bending!!!!!!!!!!
Cawfee, OH NO! I hope it gets fixed soon. It is on ABC’s website and their app. That’s a good point, I think I’d like to see her choose magic in a situation to protect Henry, I just think it would be interesting. I think anyone, who feels it enough, can do dark magic, Cora I think is the best example of that, if you feel it enough. But Emma’s magic seems more pure, it’s light and shiny as opposed to Regina’s magic which is purple and smokey. Rumple is in an entirely different league of magic. The confusing this is fairy magic, it doesn’t come with a price because it’s good…So for arguments sake let’s say Emma went bad, her magic would change. Perhaps it depends on how pure your heart is?! Hmmm…This needs to be considered more because Regina wants to protect Henry, but we’ve never seen her cast a spell like that, she casts spells at people with intent, it’s not the same with the magic we’ve seen Emma do.
I don’t really think that Snow can cast spells. We have seen her use magic, but it was always given to her by sombody else. Where we have seen Enna conjure magic on her own. I belive it to be a learned thing. If your thoughts are dark and evil then it is understandable that it would be dark magic that you would be using. If your heart is pure and your thoughts are good. Then I would think that you would be using light magic. As to which one is stronger. I think that would have to go along with how much you actually believed in what you are using it for or against. So I guess what I am saying is that really anybody can do magic provided one takes the time to learn how. Others like Emma just seem to have it because she was a product of true love but she has a long way to go in order to develop it. Or I could be so full of shit that I stink real bad and have no idea what so ever what I am talking about. I for one choose the latter!!!!!
Mike — good reminder–Snow can use it when provided. Also her Mom Eva did not have magic…trying to be logical-lol
@ 65– I Want– its fixed and I watched the episode and cried. When Bae said “I’m still mad” I lost it.
Hey Gasmi…..just a heads up that I’m still working on the recap…..work is nuts today so I’m a bit behind my normal schedule, but the recap WILL be done before the day is over. Didn’t want you to think I forgot ya!
SWAK, PottyMouth
