Pretty Little Liars Recap: Mona-Mania!

Spencer is at her Brainiacs meeting when we learn that the random guy whose bike A tampered with was her direct competition and with him being hurt, he is out of the running as the captain leaving Spencer unchallenged. Then a new challenger enters the arena in the form of Mona who has joined the club as part of her recovery. Spencer questions her motives and she tells her that she played dumb for so long and now wants to show everyone who she really is. The group votes on the captain and it ends in a tie which means they will have a quiz off to determine the team captain. Spencer walks off and receives a text to “Quit while you’re ahead bitch” from someone other than Mona since she was getting a Mountain Dew and as far as I know you can’t program texts to send at random times. Unless there’s an app for that….Is there an app for that? Maybe she sent the text but then her phone went into roaming and it didn’t send until later. Likely it was just Toby who has secretly always wanted to call Spencer a bitch but was too scared to do it to her face. Laughs.

The Liars are taking a lunch break to discuss Spencer’s Brain Bowl and Hanna questions how important it really is which causes all the other girls to look at her with disgust. Mona breaks the tension by walking over and thanking Spence for being a good sport and Spence tries to bust her as the one who sent the text message. Mona tells them that as part of her release she doesn’t have the internet or a cell phone but is able to use the computers at school for homework purposes only and that is how she was able to post that It Gets Better video…with help from Jason. Hanna points out that Mona snuck out of Radley and they don’t believe anything she says which makes Mona step back. She reveals that she is overwhelmed and knew coming back would be hard and then runs to a nearby table to eat her salad. The girls walk off and Spence realizes that Mona has had some sort of breakdown but instead of comforting her she walks off to further plot her demise by taking over the captain’s spot. Meredith meets with Ella to rub in her face how she fucked her husband behind her back and ultimately won him in the end. Ella says that the past is the past and she is dating someone as is Byron and that she wants to keep things professional between them. On a serious note Byron is really no catch so Meredith didn’t really win the war in this instance. Of all the dads I would brag about bagging Ali’s father before Aria’s father.

    Lucas can’t be on meth…yet, or he’d look like a really haggard 40 year old. His teeth and skin are still too nice looking–heck, he even has teeth!

    Oh, and thanks, SG, for questioning the whereabouts of Mike. The same thought hit me while watching this episode. I even questioned my memory of the show.

    So, this show is normally pretty bananas, but this new half of this sesason is even more bananas than usual, and I feel like all of the characters are different people now, like New Jason without getting new actors. I would have thought Byron would just yell at Aria, not weirdly allude to his knowledge of things? And why would Toby slash the tire just to run away from Emily? What the eff was the point of that? And why would A need to threaten the girls to be friends with Mona? Isn’t the whole point that she doesn’t need to manipulate them anymore, she can kick their asses without any of that?

    My captcha is an ad for an energy company. The commercial is unsuccessful, because it only makes me want donuts.

    I noticed Lucas’ shoes as well!

    I think Meredith is totes working Aria…

    Could Toby be any more stupid. I mean come on dude, you know that Em is athletic, yet you wait in the bushes for her.

    I honestly am going to have to watch this again when it airs tomorrow, I don’t remember half of what happened.

    I was thinking that the bike incident was supposed to be for either Em or Paige. Both of them seem to ride every where. Didn’t see it as a way to get to Spencer..

    Was it just me, or did it seem like they focused a lot on Aria being sick? My first thought is that she’s pregnant, but I’m not sure the show would do that.

    I agree, Meredith is not to be trusted!!!

    I thought she was preggers too! Cause for real, that sickness got an insane amount of air time. And, it would make a great tension in terms of his other baby she’s keeping a secret. I mean, her guilt would be even more, and then she’ll probably end up competing with the other baby mama for attention for her baby or whatever. Or it’ll be a scare but all that stuff will happen anyways.
