Joshua – His looks are fairly strong. I have a hard time judging Avant Garde because I hate the fur sleeves but realize that’s kind of the point. I’m not sure either look is really androgynous, but I’m guessing this is good enough for safety.
Uli – Her look is like a more succesful version of Joshua’s to me. I love the mowhawks and the shiny detailing but I’m just not sure this Avant Garde enough. The jacket on the woman is killer though. Also her blouse. If those safety pins end up doing the safety dance this week I’m going to be very annoyed.
Althea – her models are just wearing the same big bulky burgundy leather coat. It’s really just women’s wear, but also on a man.
Saint Pancake – her whole twist on the challenge was to put in a lot of cutouts. The overall look is amateurish and boxy on both models. She even admits this is not her forte and doesn’t think this really reflects the challenge or her aesthetic. It’s a little satisfying for her to finally put out something bad that I can legitimately hate.
DeadMauth – Oh my god. From their first pose his looks are just stunning. And his models are just killing it. They are wearing fedoras and matching halter-back vests. Even their side-by-side walk is cool and edgy. He has an advantage in that his female model was already very androgynous and it is really working that both his looks are skewed a little more manly. A woman in man’s clothes reads far more elegant and stylish than the other way around. Sorry guys, one double standard in our favor! Score: 1 to 1,000,000,000. Eat it.
Kane – Oh my god. Kane makes a tacky woman’s look and a truly horrendous male look. The fit and tailoring is wonderful and he is one of the nicest people ever, but the man has zero taste. I take no joy in the exit he is surely facing. Surely.
Papa Elsa – His looks are interesting, but mostly just weird. I feel like they should have an intergalactic battle with Althea’s futuristic burgundy tribe. Or are these all supposed to be costumes from the Hunger Games? I will say one thing he has going on; his male model looks like an angel from heaven.
Ivy – her time on this episode is even less than Althea’s. Her models were on stage for about ten seconds and her looks were good but forgettable. A lot of gauze, underwear and pirate tops. Safety zone predicted.
