   After Isaac said he loved Anthony Ryan’s dress, I prayed that all my friends love me enough to kill me before I buy anything Isaac may have had a hand in designing.

   I believe the term this show often uses is “taste issues.”

   Anthony Ryan must give really good head how else can you explain the way Issac always gushes over the stuff he makes. The way he was defending him was pathetic even going as far as saying that he did not mind that the dress did not fit well on the lady.

   I would take fashion advice from Isaac….the dog! Katie Holmes is a talented actress? Who knew? And AR should have the other nut chopped off for making that woman look 50 pounds heavier. Uli should be able to make that dress in 5 minutes in the dark, she sure has had enough practice! And mushmouf….well, um, I got nutin. I really liked the dress Josh made, its nice when he pretends to have feelings for someone other than his eyebrows. As always, my very most favorite part of the show was you Ronnie!! When I see your little bobble head on notHeidi’s body I expect it to start doing the snoopy dance…make that happen will ya?

   PS, it really pisses me off I have to say get the hopper free to prove I am human. Those bastards at dish won’t give you the hopper if your credit is shit. So I pay three times what I should and no DVR in the living room….ok, I will stop ranting….soon.

   A-R must have been blowing Mizrahi cuz that dress looked like a crepe drape with a rope wrapped around it. Horrific! There’s got to be something going on. He was starting an argument with Whatshername Chapman over design.

   It was kind of a cop out but I’m glad they didn’t ax Emilioth after the great season that he’s had. It would have been a crime to let him go and keep A-R with that hideous tent dress. Yes, he made some mistakes but I think it looked nice on his girl.

   I think what happened was that A-R completely blew his dress this week and since he’s been so consistently good they couldn’t bear to axe him for this monstrosity. So they did the little passion play about Isaak willing to throw himself from the top of the building if they dared to say the dress was anything but divine and next to THAT horror Emilio’s dress simply wasn’t that bad and it wouldn’t have been fair to dump HIM when we could all SEE the abortion of a garment A-R had produced so….no elimination. That’s the only way I can make sense of this episode. Because THAT dress was a nightmare. The woman wanted to hide her boobs and A-R created a dress that acted almost like when you watch a 3-D movie, the boobs just kind of jumped out and hit you in the eyes. And they looked saggy the way he belted them in underneath like that. And the fabric was drab. And the straps looked like he cut them off a straight jacket and they were the only thing keeping the boobs from simply dropping to the floor and flopping away…. That dress was treasonous, it really was. That Isaak kept gushing over it anyway can only mean that they needed a reason to keep A-R in spite of it. Or that A-R has pictures stashed somewhere for just such an emergency.

   I was agog at the dress AR made. It really did make the poor woman (who is quite beautiful) look sooo much heavier. Mr. TallGirl happened to see the runway portion and commented about her, “She’s a cow.” I told him that no, she wasn’t; she’s just chesty, and that shower curtain/toga she had on is what made her look big. In a distance shot, the ombred effect rather worked, but most of her friends at her 40th birthday party are not going to be interacting with her from 25 feet away. I agree with Andyourlittledogtoo about the straps looking as though they came from a strait jacket. In the initial fitting scenes with them, I thought that they were the bias tape or whatever construction materials he was going to use to give “lift.” I fully expected him to cover them in black or a dark gray to keep with his ombre fabric and the minimizing at the top effect. But, no, he put honking white straps across the very area she was trying to hide.
   I also didn’t care for the styling of his captain. That fauxhawk on her served to only make her look even heavier than the dress did. She’s a gorgeous gal and deserved better, especially as a veteran.
   My heart was in my throat when I thought they might send Emilio home. He can construct and sew beautifully, but given the time constraints, if a designer gets one fit issue “off,” there is never time to fix it. Unlike Mr. Eyeliner, he would never send someone down the runway with a bunching zipper. He could have done some hideous tucks or something to his first version of the dress and then made excuses about the fit, but he’s enough of a professional to want to do right by his gal and make it right. Then, he had fabric quantity issues. He basically had to remake the entire dress. I think that he’s really talented and would have probably won the Elie Tahari challenge had he not listened to the critiques and kept his original color blocking design.

    I thought those straps were wide bias tape too, during construction. It made no sense. He had this whole concept of dark minimizing the top filtering down to lighter to draw the eye down…then he tops the dress with wide bright white straps crisscrossing her upper chest. He did everything but create a bullseye on that woman’s chest with big neon arrows pointing in, ‘look here!’. Did he have a brain fart or something? He usually is very good at this. Aren’t gay men supposed to be immune to boobs? I can’t believe he was that distracted by them. It’s like when you are told not to think of an elephant and it’s all you can see, or when you’re drunk and you are trying to keep on your side of the road so you keep looking at the white line which only makes you actually go down the center of the white line (not advocating that btw, just noting it as an example).

    She was a beautiful woman and not nearly as large as that dress made her look. Being chesty myself I understand how it can easily make you look huge when you wear the wrong fitting clothes for your chest size. It’s very frustrating so I totally got why she said she was a ‘boob hider’. Draping over them just adds 100 pounds to what the eye sees, you never drape over a large chest. That’s the kiss of death in styling. I guess A-R only works with size -A models.

    The dark-to-light transition only works if the bodice is fitted and the skirt is A-line creating a flair from the hips instead of a belted and strapped tent that screamed “Here are my huge, saggy boobs.”

    I’m not even a designer and I know that, but these chuckleheads never seem to grasp that loose, oversized clothing ONLY looks good on skinny women because the added volume is on a thin, narrow frame.

    It’s the designers who want to hide the woman’s body then the designer blames the woman for having demands. but worst was Isaac admitting the dress fit and looked like shit on the woman but still praising AR. For what?

    Now I’ll put my soapbox away.

    I have to agree that Katie Holmes is one of the best actresses. It must be hard to act like you are in love with a major closet case.

    Anthony Ryan’s dress was beyond bad, it was an embarrassment. As in they’ve-sold-that-exact-same-thing-as-an-ugly-terry-mumu-for-decades-even-though-it-was-NEVER-in-style-in-the-first-place embarrassing. It was also less than impressive that after the judging and back in the waiting room it looked like he was flat out trying to avoid his lovely client – like her big boobs conspired against him or somethin’.

    Joshua got screwed by this non-elimination bullshit. I agree with Andy. They couldn’t bring themselves to ditch A-R, even tho he deserved to go for that crappy dress.

    I just went on the Lifetime site to take another look at A-R’s sack of a dress. It’s hideous. Yes, his girl is big but he didn’t make any attempt to work with her figure. He just threw a drape over it and threw a belt around her. I’ve defended Mizrahi in the past but I can’t anymore. He’s got a boner for A-R and it’s pathetic. That \dress\ was a sack of shit. I can’t believe A-R has won 4 times. More than anyone else. He’s at 30% on the Fan Favorite poll right now. No one else is close. It’s ridonk.

    I don’t think he should have won that 20′s challenge. That was a shapeless black dress the feather capelet. It was fug and didn’t read 20′s. Uli should have won that challenge. Looking back Mizrahi gushed about A-R’s dress on that challenge too.

    I’m not that surprised. Remember Isaac Mizrahi’s line at Target? I am a curvy woman, and I tried on a couple of those items, and HE doesn’t know how to design for women with curves either. So I guess I can see how he was so blind to the MAJOR GAPING OBVIOUS flaws of A-R’s dress. I also really don’t think Isaac’s praise was a conspiracy to keep A-R, either, because usually the job of giving false praise falls to the host, whatever her name is, NotHeidi, since she has no taste. I DO buy, however, that the producers wanted to keep him another week, and couldn’t justify eliminating anyone else over him.

    Well…the lady was kind of cray for insisting on a strapless design, and then agreeing to straps that actually didn’t support anything, and were mostly ugly decoration.
    I’m very busty myself, and have learned long ago that strapless dresses and big boobies don’t mix.
    And then the way that the ribbon was buckling under the weight of her boobs made her look so fat and unattractive. What she needed was a good bra (crossover opportunity for Double Divas?), a squeem, and a structured dress to define her shape.
    I was mortified that he pretty much made her a tent and belted it with some damn ribbon, and I pray to Jesus’s holy name that she doesn’t actually try to wear that to her 40th birthday party.

    I was also disappointed that she was like HIDE ME and A-R was just like OKAY BITCH GOOD IDEA COME, LET ME HIDE YOUR ROLLS IN AN OMBRE TENT.
    He was supposed to take that opportunity to make her something bright and lovely that she will look beautiful in, so she can feel good about herself a little bit. Not confirm her negative thoughts about her body.
    She was heavier than the other girls and maybe weighed more than she was used to, but she wasn’t fat yet. There was no excuse for why he couldn’t make her something beautiful and fitted. I’ve seen better party dresses and gowns at JC Penney and Sears than what he made.
    Bitch is trying to celebrate 40 years of life and he has her looking like a hippo that was swimming in bleach.

    I would have pitched an almighty fit if I was her in that thing. Wouldn’t even have walked out onto the runway, I would have just sat in the back and refused to take a single step in that monstrosity, fuck A-R’s feelings and needs.

    Attention fat girls.
    Do not go on Project Runway, for any reason, even if they offer free and unlimited cake and donuts from the craft services table.
    I know it’s tempting, but nothing good can come of it.
    Only humiliation and pain. .___.

    I agree there has to be SOME reason they’re keeping A-R there. Whether it’s Isaac’s boner for him or because he’s won the most challenges. BUT they should’ve busted (no pun intended) him for not attempting to make a dress with some kind of structure for this woman. Obviously her figure called for it. He’s supposed to be a skilled designer? He should know that. This dress was a cop out and they should have called him out on it. If the producers still wanted to keep him around after that, well OK, but let him know.

    And, yes, I’m with you Chaos. That woman should have pitched a fit. I’m not busty but I’m big and there’s no fucking way I’d wear that tent out on a runway for anyone’s ego. And, I certainly wouldn’t wear it to a party. You can pick up nicer dresses than this at Ross for God’s sake.

    Episodes like this make me wonder who ever labeled these losers \all-stars\? Josh is largely a miss, but when he does something good, like this week, he redeems himself and he generally does understand working with a non-model type client. I know Uli is well liked, but her designs stay within a pretty limited range. Every long sun dress she pumps out bores me to death, even if they are beautifully made. For most women they are impractical and not very flattering. Why is Anthony Ryan even on this show? He has come up with some horrible concoctions and his wins weren’t that great. Isaac has long ago lost any credibility except for being a fame whore. Seriously, is anyone wearing his designs anymore? Does he even design anymore? How come both Marchesa designers aren’t out there judging? Why does Georgina get all the kudos? I thought it was a team effort with her and Keren Craig. Katie Holmes? Oh, please… Flipit, you’re the best, your recaps make it all worthwhile.
