The only joy in what happens next is hopefully it makes Chris “Rilly Upset you guhzah!”. With very mixed emotions Heidi tells Unibrow he is out and he returns to the workroom to let his family down too. He keeps a brave face but in his interview he breaks down and reveals that the prize would’ve meant being able to pay his bills and also help his mom financially. He says gracious things about only being sad because his mother is so sad and my heart breaks into a hundred dumpster shaped pieces for him. He really had a great personality and I’m very impressed that he didn’t lay the sob story on the judges previously about what the prize meant to him and his family financially.
You can go through my recycling bin anytime
I’m now wondering if Dmitry’s group of friends are sitting in that workroom uncomfortably realizing their friend won but surrounded by weeping losers and their families. Awkward. Also awkward when Chris flounces himself on to the couch and demands “a recount”. I completely agree, they should recount back far enough to let Sonjia in the finale instead of Chris. With Tara and Unibrow being so gracious, it’s hard to imagine why Chris wants this to be our final impression of him, but I guess it’s never too late to start campaigning for All Stars!
Here is your recount. You still came in fourth. Out of four
Now for the winner. The love I have for dear Dmitry made this a very satisfying ending. I didn’t truly expect the judges to go that way and Dmitry took the news quietly but with heartfelt gratitude.
Sometimes the world is a very good place
Heidi kisses Dmitry and he thanks everyone and all the judges congratulate him. Kors calls him a real gentleman. It’s an odd thing to say at this time, but it is absolutely true so I love it. Heidi brings Dmitry’s friends out to the runway and his model, who is also a winner (especially if he’s been schtupping her all this time), but the best part of the whole finale was when Tim Gunn came out to congratulate Dmitry. I don’t know how many times he has reacted this strongly but it was deeply touching.
What I’d like to see after every success in life
The season thus ends very satisfactorily, with Dmitry as the crown prince he deserves to be. I also wish a lot of success to Fabio, Melissa and Sonjia. I wish a little bit of maturing and then moderate success to Christopher
. Thanks to everyone who’s been reading and thanks for all your comments and hilarious insights and opinions! I’m going to miss you! If you miss me, you can find me knee-deep in recapping Homeland, which is an amazing show you really should be downloading illegally already.
If you like it, spread it!:

Dmitry’s styling was godawful. I can’t believe the judges didn’t comment on it. But his clothes were lovely and well-made and I’m happy he won! Tim’s reaction at the end was so sweet.
Overall I think this season had a pretty high level of talent and (mostly) likeable contestants, despite the time constraints. It’s refreshing after last season. I enjoyed watching it. Thank you for your funny, Dmitry-loving recaps!
I wasn’t surprised by Dmitry winning. I missed the first airing and had to watch the repeat. And while on facebook I saw a comments from Tim’s twitter and he called Dmitry’s story the American dream. And he also said he was a lovely person. So figured all that praise meant Dmitry won.
Tim also tweeted that night in answer to somebody’s question that Christian Siriano had exceeded all expectations. And called him a prodigy.
Great job MMW! Your recaps have been epic and I will miss them so much. Please invite me when you have your hot tub party!
A lovely end to a totally not bad season. Thanks for recapping, and doing a fantastic job. Flipit’s shoes are tough to fill, but you absolutely rose to the challenge and kicked some PR-cappin’ ass. I’m stoked to hear you’ll be doing All-Stars. I only wish they were bringing back some… I dunno… Stars? I mean, really? Suede????? Really????? Ack!
Anyway, I was rooting for Dimitri and I’m stoked he won. I think Melissa is one of those people that’s just genuinely NICE and good at stuff. Didn’t she say she finished law school and then decided to be a fashion designer? She’s gonna be just fine. Freegan was sweet, but I just don’t get his clothes. Chris was a little bitch, but he’s a young gay boy and there’s still time for him to outgrow that.
Tara was talking about her blood orange dress in the champagne scene. The whole thing she’d had to make. So she was relieved she got so much done.
Chris is Delusiona to think he was in anybody else’s head right then!
To me it seemed like the whole show got rebooted to have a more Project Target-Ready focus.
I didn’t feel like there was a whole lot that seemed all that original. From any of them. Except for Kooan. But he’s in a different category. Dmitri’s grandbabies will be the 1s putting Kooan clothes on.
After him I thought Sonjia had the most potential. And I got a kick out of Tim agreeing with me that she hasn’t started scratching the tip of her iceberg yet.
Neither has Gunnar. But he doesn’t even know if his iceberg’s made out of clothes or what yet.
Of the final 4 I ended up liking Fabio’s collection the best. The shapes looked more inspired by S Asia than Brasil though. And I bet he’ll get enough work from being the runner up to take care of his mom.
@MrsMiaWallace Thanks for making me ROFL so much! Without you this season would’ve been a snooze fest for me. You’re also why I can’t wait for All Stars to start. Since they didn’t really pick a lot of my favorites to be in it.
Thanks for your wonderful recaps, MMW. Looking forward to your observations on the “All-Star” edition.
Thanks for all the fish, MrsMia! Great job!
Was Dmitry’s collection mind-blowing? No. Was it the best of the 4? I think, yes. I liked Fabios more then I expected to. And I believe that’s the first time (a Project Runway first!) that brother Tim has cried tears of joy over a winner. Sorrow tears, yes, joy? Never before.
As for Tara, a leather swimsuit? Really? I mean, I know many of the uber top designers have swimwear collections that are never intended to see the inside of a pool or even an ocean, but leather? Can you imagine how hot that would be?
Hopefull All-Stars will show us something we’ve not seen much of. Talent.
Oh, wait.
Never mind.
I was pleased that we got a decent season finally; it’s definitely been lacking recently. Also, I really didn’t join in on the Chris hate before. He could be annoying, but I still gave him the benefit of the doubt. But boy did he let his immaturity shine through. I think he felt so insecure and it was the only way he knew to express it. But it especially stood out considering how well the others got along. Hopefully he will grow out of it, or learn from watching himself act like that on tv.
I have a confession to make Mrs.MiaWallace, I was incredibly wary when I heard Flipit wasn’t recapping this season and wondered how on earth someone could live up to his work. But you did such a wonderful job and made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions. Thank you for being so damn funny!
Your recaps are brilliant and hilarious, MMW. I look forward to All-Stars with you. (There’s Andrae!) Heidi fianlly looked great and may show up next season looking better, because she took part of the winning collection home with her (see http://theclicker.today.com/_news/2012/10/19/14560960-project-runway-winner-heidi-klum-took-half-of-my-collection?chromedomain=entertainment ). Really, I’m very happy for Dmitry but I thought Fabio would win it because his collection was offthewall fashion-y, and I thought that’s what the judges like. Lastly, I just have to say I don’t think there’s any room for us in that hot tub, MrsMia. What with all those hot blondes surrounding Dmitry, even sweet Tim has to step aside. Boo-hoo. I’ll still dream …
Sorry gals, but no ordinary heterosexual guy would have three hot blondes as best friends. One, yes. A second, possibly, if she was the sister of the first. But not three.
@Riley ‘Dmitry’s styling was godawful. I can’t believe the judges didn’t comment on it.’
I was worried Dmitri would get creamed for the tin-foil hair, too. When they showed this in the runway prep I was flabbergasted by his decision. But I think it mattered not at all in the end. After his whole collection walked, I realized that I did not even notice the hair, or the horrible over-painted brows. I was so taken by the beauty and creativity of his clothes, the hair was not even on my horizon. I believe same might have happened for the judges, thus no comments at all.
Melissa and Unibrow – you are both lovely people, you are talented, you have a unique point of view. Now you got some exposure, go out there and try to capitalize on it. It is not the win, but it is still SO much more than 99% of other designer hopefuls ever get.
Dmitri – you were indeed a prince among men. Loved the collection. I also read that right after the show, when the stuff was packing the clothes for storage (they are the show’s property, thanks to Heidi being a producer), Heidingo came in and slapped stickers with her name and delivery directions on 6 out of 10 of Dmitri’s pieces! Fat bitch strikes again – but after her ‘performance’ the whole season, maybe that’s what she needs to stop looking like a cheap hooker. She did not take anything from anybody else, even though she declared to Unibrow that she’d wear all his pieces (I honestly think she was just being contrary for its own sake there). Also, Nina gave an interview that the judging wasn’t even close, and Dmitri was always a clear front-runner and decided winner after the MBFS runway. WELL DESERVED. And truly could not happend to a nicer person.
Chris – you are a little whiny shit that will get bitch-slapped by life many times before you learn to appeciate opportunities you are given, and accept your own shortcomings and failings. ‘I DEMAND A RECOUNT’ – ????? Really, you little twit?? I demanded a recound when you stayed over Sonjia, and when you were rewarded a couple of wins over Dmitri, so there. You will be a miserable, bitter old queen soon if you do not take care.
MrsMia. – fantastic job on the recaps. Thanks for all the joy you gave us. Since I am allergic to EyeSack, and Georgina makes me itch, I will get thru All-Stars on your recaps only. Can’t wait
My faith in Project Runway is restored! Dmitri’s collection didn’t leave me breathless, but it was very polished and (to me) clearly the best of the four. He’s got talent…he also seems to be a kind and gracious person, which is a real joy in a winner. (With the exceptions of Christopher and Blorpheous, whose real name MMW has hilariously made me totally forget, all the contestants seemed pretty nice, which I personally like.)
After wretched Gretchen won her season with the most God-awful line of brown depression sack dresses, I was ready to give up on project runway, but now I’m back. Thanks for awesome recaps!
I think the show really redeemed itself this season after a few off years. The “villains” (ultimately Christopher and Blorpheus) at least had some talent, there was a good mix of personalities like Elena and Gunnar, both of whom I ended up liking, and of course, Dmitri, yay!!!!! I wouldn’t say his collection was my favorite of all the seasons by any stretch, but I do think he is my favorite winner of all the seasons, if that makes any sense. And the fact that Tim Gunn seemed to like and respect Dmitri so much speaks volumes, I think.
Now if Lifetime would just let them double the production time and give the contestants more money, I think we could be back on track!
Oh, and thanks for awesome recaps MrsMia! I too have forgotten what Blorpheus’ real name is and your captions are always especially hilarious. (“So now you’re just a guy living with your parents?” ROFL)
Is something wrong with me? I’m completely missing the sexual appeal of Dmitry. I think his accent is sexy and that’s about it.
Oh and apparently he graduated from Parsons, so maybe that had something to do with Tim’s reaction. And sorry for the bad news but I read interview where he said he thinks of Tim like an uncle.
sagittariuskim,
Dmitry is tall, lithe, intense, funny, looks good in leather pants. What’s not to like?
Interesting point you bring up about Parsons. I know Irina S. was also a Parsons grad. I wonder how many of the contestants over the 10 seasons have been from Parsons, and if they knew Tim while they were there. Or if Dmitry knew him.
I don’t get why Dmitry thinking of Tim as a uncle is bad news.
@NotaNJHousewife I don’t know maybe I don’t see it because he’s like 10 years older than me. MrsMia kept mentioning a hot tub fantasy involving Tim and Dmitry and few of other have talked about fantasies with Tim and Dmitry. But since Dmitry thinks of Tim as an uncle…
Hi all! Thanks for all the love! Please stop by All Stars and help me mix it up!
@sagittarius – NotaNJhousewife has it right – Dmitry’s sexiness has a lot to do with his attitude, demeanor and talent. He is not classically handsome, but he is sensuous and also courtly, which is a delicious combination.
As for the hot tub, I actually am not a huge fan of them and started it off as a joke because it is generally a gauche and raucous environment that I find hilarious to juxtapose with Tim’s stiff formality. However, I adore Tim and would love to spend time with him anywhere and the more I started to admire Dmitry and the more we all talked about the fun of it, the party took on a life of its own and became something altogether appealing.
The hot tub party is simply a fantasy of all the people who are most marvelous, drinking champagne in the bubbles. I imagine Tim will wear his suit, as is befitting the most avuncular of all the superheroes.
And lol @ all the Blorpheus talk! I love that that caught on!
I could tell how much I was starting to really like Fabio because I kept forgetting to call him Unibrow and I’d have to go back and fix them all. He really turned out to be wonderfully sweet.
And Melissa too. Tara Reid doesn’t merit the comparison!
I don’t think I’ll be watching PR All-Stars. I can’t stand Eyesack…..well, I don’t like any of them except for that one chick from Marchessa but I really don’t like Eyesack. And the cast just makes me want to upchuck. I am looking forward to your recaps, though!
One more thing…..I, too, was not so sure about having a new recapper for PR because Flipit is definitely a hard act to follow but I thought you did a great job, MrsMia!
In what universe could this Suede guy be considered an all-star? He was memorable, I’ll give him that. But I’m guessing they couldn’t convince any of the actual designers to come back on the show.
@ itchy: “Sorry gals, but no ordinary heterosexual guy would have three hot blondes as best friends. One, yes. A second, possibly, if she was the sister of the first. But not three.”
Ah, but our lovely Belarusian Eeyore is not ordinary.
Melissa was a lovely contestant– and I think the final choice should have been between her and Dimitry (swoom– gay or not!– with Dimitry winning)– although Fabio was a sweetheart. She is however, not a lawyer– but was a pre-law student in college. If she had been a lawyer, designer and gorgeous, I might not have liked her as much– she would have been too perfect!
swoon, that is!
