Heidi really, really hates Michelle’s red carpet look. She says that Miranda would easily be on the worst-dressed list, which is something Heidi knows about, because she’s on it all the time. Miranda tries to ease the pain a little bit, saying she likes the vest, and she would probably wear it with a short skirt, but Heidi shoots her down, talking about the fringed “bib” that Zac describes as linguini. Michelle, to her credit, stands her ground, saying she thinks it’s fun, even when Nina describes it as “bad rock n roll.” Michelle proclaims, “We should never forget hair metal!” Props, Michelle. Matthew’s look isn’t bold enough for the judges, because you can’t see the few good details he put into the design. Matthew apologizes to Miranda, and she tells him he needs to have confidence in his own craft.
As for Daniel’s dress, Miranda couldn’t tell it was leather on top, and says what bothered her was that it looks like “someone’s interpretation of what a [air quotes] country star [end air quotes] would wear,” but not really red carpet-worthy. Nina says it looks like a tablecloth or napkin, and she hates the seam in the middle. As Zac tries to tell Daniel that the fit is okay, Heidi jumps in and disagrees: the top adds weight, and as Miranda points out, if the top adds weight to the tiny wisp of a model, she’s screwed. Heidi tells Samantha she’s lucky she has immunity. Miranda would rather wear what Samantha is wearing rather than what Samantha designed.
Nothing new, really, as the judges deliberate in private, except that they seem to be worried about the taste level in general of some of the contestants, as this is the first time we’ve seen the designers work on their own. And the winner is… Dick! Way to go! Miranda says she will wear his dress in an upcoming performance. And Matthew gets the Auf Wiedersehen. Tim is disappointed, because Matthew self-sabotaged.
Next week: we’ve got some jazzy senior citizens as client/models! And Joan Rivers is guest judging, which should be delicious.
Your turn, Gasmii! Was Dick’s design “everything,” and did he deserve the win? Was it Matthew’s week to go home, or are you cursing Samantha’s immunity? What is Michelle going to do sans partner, and how stressful will it be? Share your thoughts in the comments below, and I’ll see you back here after next week’s episode!
