I hope this weekend you went to at least as many drag shows as I did! Now let’s talk about the greatest drag show of all – Project Runway. OK, so it’s more about women being dressed up as badly dressed women. It’s still a spectacle!
Last week was the Great Escape with Grandma fleeing in the middle of the night and then Afrasian gathering up the last remaining twinkles of joy left in his Hello Kitty heart cavity and skedaddling too. At least he had the courtesy of making an announcement and saying goodbye.
To keep the air dates on schedule, PR pulled the crap move of letting Vampire Bangs/Squiggy come back. We talked a lot about this in the minicap and most agree this move seems unfair, and is really only palatable when the person leaving was well-liked, seemed to go out unfairly, or both. Squiggy was a whiney booger (I love JMo) and deserved every inch of elimination.
Squiggy wasted no time in landing right back in the bottom three but squiggled out when Buffi was sent packing. She will be missed as a mature yet whacky element, but her fashion and technical abilities were lacking. Oh, and Sonjia finally won! There may have been a design that was slightly better, but she is so sweet and talented, plus robbed previously, who can begrudge her a little spotlight?
Now to the present! The designers sit around and rehash the challenge in their apartment. Tara Reid is freaked out because all her roommates have been eliminated. Squiggy seems to have a vampire crush on Christopher! Speaking of Christopher he is still hoping he wasn’t the one that killed Grandma.
The designers head to the runway for the pointless Meet-Heidi-to-find-out-where-to-go-to-find-out-about-the-challenge challenge. This time they actually find out about the challenge just to prove me wrong! But Heidi is apparently incapable of that much exposition because she brings out Nina to do the talking.
Nina lets them know that they will be separated into two teams (gasp!) to design a mini-collection specifically for Women at Work. This will include a photo shoot and the winning spread will be featured in Marie Claire. Everyone likes the professional attire part but of course hates the team aspect. There is no all-knowing Lexus this time though; the teams are actually chosen. Sonjia has the first honors since she is the reigning champ. She is actually a little stressed by this since she is well-liked and doesn’t want to offend. That’s truly a rare problem on this show. The pressure makes her go batshit crazy and chooses Hunger Games Elena.
