Dmitry is praised, as he should be, and they hit all the obvious compliments– glamorous, chic etc. Debra Messing brings up that Rockettes do need to be sexy but also appropriate to be viewed by every age as they put on a family show. Dmitry and his model both break out into naughty smiles at the mention of naughty hemlines, and I’m wondering if our hero has been hosting some private fittings.
It isn’t family time in the workroom after hours
Blorpheus explains his dress and makes it sound about 10,000 x’s more interesting than it is. Something about material and fit. Heidi straight-away calls it boring. Blorpheus makes that face that is really sad and hurt and I just realized what his problem is!
Blorpheus has, what did he say? Four older sisters? He has a chubby, sad puppy face and anytime he quivered a lip he was babied and told how wonderful he is. That’s why his ego is bigger than his waistline and criticism is so hard for him to process. Armchair psychology win!
Heidi asks what he got on the second trip to Mood and he reveals he didn’t take advantage of that unheard-of opportunity. It’s an easy topic to use to criticize him, but I don’t think he would’ve bought anything anyway. Kors, Nina and Heidi all agree that the dress is boring and plain. Debra actually really liked his design, but then dashes his hopes by saying the hemline is poorly done. Ruh roh Baggy.
“So, is that a compliment? Because I will melt down if it wasn’t”
Tara has actually pleased Heidi, which is not necessarily a compliment, but there are issues with the number 1 imagery and the length of the skirt. Kors gets in a good zinger by saying the skirt is too long for Heidi’s taste, LOL. The reviews are pretty mixed. The vibrancy and color choice is praised but every judge has a criticism from a technical/execution perspective.
“It was meant to be a seven. I have bad glue-writing”
Chris explains the meaning to a Frank Sinatra song and then gets high praise all around. He very much deserves it but no one seems to mention the skirt (although it seemed like Nina might have but it was edited out?) and no one pointed out the very obvious fact that the gorgeous tiny skyline would be completely lost on 90% of the audience. I am torn, because I love it too and want one. If I ever got an invite to the T&T bar party I would so wear it to that!
Betty would love it
Next, Kors rips immediately into Elena. He calls it not only a cheerleader’s uniform, but one who lives in the global Mecca for tacky – Las Vegas. Debra Messing calls it a circus costume and Nina hates that everything matches? They do realize the Rockettes may be classy but they definitely wear sparkly loud costumes… and matching accessories. Heidi weighs in to call it cheesy but I have to say, I think she secretly loves it.
These reactions are not the same
