When the model turns around I think the back of the dress is amazing and had Elena had a little more restraint on the front it might have been in the running for best design. I also love the hairpiece she added in, seems very Rockettes to me!
Elena breaks down under the harsh reactions because she was so stressed and went purposely outside of her comfort zone and still ended up with a crapshow. Heidi is kind but still maintains that this is way off the mark.
Then, just when I was feeling bad for the sensitive little boy inside Blorpheus, the big fat idiot who ate him shoots Elena a judgey side-eye that renews my thirst for his downfall.
Heidi sends them off and warns them that since there are so few designers left, the decision will be very hard. I take this to mean they are about to pick a designer based on total portfolio more than just this oddball challenge… hoping… In the backroom Blorpheus feels safe because Debra specifically liked his design so much and Elena is already expecting to hear a German kiss-off.
Meanwhile, the judges are chewing it over and this has got to be the second-most boring segment since they mostly just repeat everything they already said. I do hear Nina say that Christopher’s design “has no movement”, but that comment is immediately lost in the rampant praise so I expect she did say it before as well. The nicest thing they say about Blorpheus is that at least he didn’t do a rose this time. Kors drops one of his zingers saying BLorph’s drag name should be Origami Rose, lol!
Tara is released and then Christopher is announced as the winner. Kind of cool since he loves Debra Messing so much and I genuinely think he deserved it. Maybe Dmitry had a better all-around design, but that skyline was so beautiful that it alone deserved a win.
Everyone else is dismissed and Elena and Blorpheus end up the bottom two. Elena looks like I imagine people do as they stand on the gallows waiting for the trap door to open.
When she is told she’s actually still in she just cracks and bursts into tears. Her first instinct is to hug Blorpheus, which is nice, and then she stumbles offstage. Interesting to see what she will have to offer next week!
