When they get home, Mo’Rum heads straight for bed and promptly passes out, while Ginger is clearly not happy but doesn’t want to get into it with everyone. Captain Needy follows him outside, where Ginger recounts the excessive flirtation with Mike and says he’s not going to tell Mo’Rum what to do. He goes on to say that he’s a bitch for taking care of her, because she wants money, good looks, and basically the opposite of him.
Then Ginger starts asking Captain Needy to hit him in the face. When Needy refuses, Ginger starts burning his arm with his cigarette, much to Needy’s dismay. Poor guy doesn’t know what to do, being on this side of the situation.
Turns out Ginger is feeling rather unloved, a feeling Captain Needy seems to understand. Needy tries to explain to Ginger that this is not okay, but Ginger’s not having it and is still asking to be punched. Needy, of course, is still refusing. Who would have thought, between these two, that Needy would come across as the sane one? He tells Ginger to remember his Hakuna Matata motto. (“What’s a motto?” “What’s a motto with you?”)
The next morning, Latoya encourages Mo’Rum to slow down a bit with the drinking, telling her it doesn’t make her a bad person but it doesn’t make her look good. She tells Mo’Rum that she’s an awesome person sober, but she needs to tone it down because it’s wearing on poor Ginger. Mo’Rum tells us that she doesn’t want to hurt Ginger because he’s a Carebear, and Latoya encourages her to sit down and talk to him.
Mo’Rum makes herself a drink to gear up for apologizing to Ginger for getting to drunk the night before, so let’s all take a moment to applaud her commitment. She tells Ginger she’s still drunk and woke up fully clothed and alone, so she’s assuming she fucked up. Ginger blames the whole thing on Mike the bar owner, and Mo’Rum is so relieved to hear this that she doesn’t even take the bait when Ginger tries to bring up where they stand. Needy is either on the computer or just pretending to be on the computer while hovering nearby, and is concerned about Ginger after hearing the conversation.
Time for this seasons mandatory beach party! On the way, Needy tries to bring up his concerns, but Ginger of course brushes them off like most people with problems tend to do. Needy is persistent, though, and it looks like his talk maybe starts to sink in towards the end. Who knew he’d turn into such a good friend? (Rhyme unintentional.)
