Chris – His first look is leather booty shorts, a leather vest and white tank top. I know he distressed the vest but I don’t think it is enough to make this look runway-worthy. He follows that with high-waisted leather shorts and a silky tank in his signature x-ray textile. It’s cute but again not exactly wowing me. The tank I do like and it is backless with a chain which is a nice touch. Lastly is his leather bustier and patterned skirt. Three yawns, but they are cohesive!
Unibrow – As glad as I am to finally see some color, pastel is not my favorite and his signature wigs and flowing caftans are making this look like the Golden Girls collection 2032. I do love the necklace and purses he designed and I don’t think the shoes distract from the look. He starts with pants, a tiny halter top and flowing robe-like piece. The second piece is more structured with a pencil skirt and strange origami top. It might just be hard to understand on TV, but it looks oddly folded and bunched. The back is very cool with a soft, shredded and unraveled look to it. Lastly is a dress that looks like every dress Unibrow wore during judging but with a really pretty necklace/neckline piece.
Tara – She starts out with white shorts and a cowl-neck dickie! It’s different and I almost like it. Goths go on holiday too! Then she has black harem pants with a white jacket. The jacket reminds me of my ski coat with how bulky it is and the black and white colors. I do like the colorblock detail on the back though. Her last piece is the “obsidian dress” which she talks like it’s her signature piece for the collection. That is problematic because it looks like a less interesting version of her purple condom dress she won with during the wear to work challenge. Also when lined up near each other, it appears all her models are wearing the same badly fitting, unbrushed wig.
Unibrow is first to be judged. He is decked out in shredded skirt and pastel baseball hat/bonnet so he can represent his brand. Heidi praises him for being different, but still cool and fashionable. Kors likes the colors and the juxtaposition they introduce. He criticizes the wigs but likes the shoes! Nina loves some of the looks, but her problem is that some of the pieces look too inexpensive and not polished enough. Overall though I think the judges are pleased with this showing.
