Jack kisses bartender and calls himself her boyfriend. Rut roh. Methinks Correspondence Course Writing School Gal is toast. Or about to be notified that she has won the Pulitzer Prize for twists.

Amanda breaks into the house that she will later buy and has flashbacks of another New Year’s Eve wherein David is preparing to go to the Grayson’s party. Bill Harmon, “Uncle Bill,” arrives and gives her a gift. David reminds Amanda that he loves her “infinity times infinity.”

She decides to read the journals there in the house. After reading the journal, Amanda sneaks off to spy on Victoria, remembering watching Victoria and Bill Harmon take a computer out of her dad’s house.

Amanda sneaks up to the door, triggering the motion sensor lights. Frank sees her footprints in the snow.

Lydia and Michael are arriving a day early for the party because they are looking for a place in the Hamptons. Lydia tells them they put an offer in on the David Clarke property but were turned down by the mysterious corporation that owns it.

Girlfriend is reading a cheesy book when Amanda stops back into The Stowaway for lunch. Girlfriend wants the day off so she can work at the Grayson’s party. Dad Porter tells her if she wants to work the Grayson’s party, she is fired. Girlfriend is tired of Montauk. Amanda tells her that she will work the Grayson party for her and will give her 25% of what she earns. Girlfriend asks her name and she says, “Mandy.”

Sam the Wonder Dog recognizes Amanda and she remarks about how much he has grown. Nolan appears out of nowhere. Jack calls Sam in and sees Amanda yet again. Amanda tells Nolan to get lost.

Conrad and Frank are discussing Lydia and Michael. Conrad says Michael knows nothing and Lydia is a conscience-less slut who will keep her trap shut. Frank tells Conrad even he is a suspect.

Victoria has sneaked over to David Clarke’ house. She finds a picture of David on the floor and recalls the night of the New Year’s Eve party where she first met David.

SHE LIKEY

Conrad finds Victoria at the house. She tells him she is seeking “calm before the storm.” Conrad tells her that they are going to sell the Clarke house. Victoria asks why and Conrad responds, “because you are still in love with him.”

AMANDA IS HIDING IN THE SHADOWS THE WHOLE TIME

At the “current” party, Victoria asks Amanda to find Mason Treadwell an ashtray. Amanda calls him “Leo.” AGAIN, people, Mason AND Victoria talk to Amanda face-to-face and don’t recognize her later as Emily? Is this supposed to illustrate the aloofness of the rich and famous? For someone as suspicious as Victoria, me no buy-ee.

Treadwell gives Victoria the picture of David in the prison yard the day he was killed. Amanda looks at the place cards of all of the people she read about in David’s journal. A nervous man comes up to her and asks her to be seated as far as possible from “all these people.” He remarks that he is staying in the poolhouse and gives Amanda some money to get him some liquor. Frank sees the transaction.

The man is Royce Halsted, a person of whom David wrote was “a true friend – knows I am innocent – forced to stay quiet against his will – would stand by me.”

Nolan enters The Stowaway and tries to hit on Jack’s girlfriend. Jack catches him and tells him she is with him. Nolan introduces himself to Jack.

Amanda meets Halsted in the poolhouse with the liquor. She tells him she wants to know about her father. Then she tells him her father is David Clarke.

Amanda explains that she read her father’s journals, and that Halsted knows the truth. Halsted confirms that is David was set up and urges her to drop it. She tells them she is not afraid of these people but Halsted clams up.

Amanda is back to serving cocktails at the party as rich people tell each other how crappy they all are. Lydia accused Amanda of lusting after Victoria.

I hearted this entire episode so much! I loved the younger looking versions of Nolan and Jack and Declan. So cute! Also cool to see how the Graysons also destroyed other people to fuel their plot against Clarke. I am such a fan girl for this show and get more so each week.

I think it is supposed to signify how little people pay attention to “The help”. Or just plot holes. Either way. I mean think of how many people you interact with on a daily basis. Unless you are a good reader of faces, you probably are not going to remember them. Eyewitness accounts have been proven to suck. So I could totally believe they would not recognize her. I do feel Victoria has always sensed something “off” about Emily and it may be her subconcious recognizing her from the party or from her childhood face. Not enough memory though to peg her as Amanda.

At this point in the season, especially after the months long pause, this episode felt like a total filler. It would have been better in the first half of the season. We didn’t learn anything the new. It didn’t really move the plot forward. However, it did show that the characters are capable of facial expressions. And seriously, how old is that dog??

I feel like this show would have been better as a mini series. How are they going to extend this over another season? What type of hellish cliff hanger is this season going to end with?

@April – you have good points about “the help” and eyewitness accounts – I can’t even describe what I’m wearing even when it is stretched across my ample ass. The only thing is, Amanda seemed to be right there in the middle of everything, yet the only person who thought she had seen Emily before was Lydia – and she saw her less than anyone.

@Carol – I wonder if there is going to be a Dallas-type ending. For example, in the preview, Emily is all bloody and says something like, “I want my face to be the last thing you see before I kill you.” Maybe they won’t show us who she is talking to or a gunshot goes off and Emily looks surprised so you aren’t sure if she is shot or the other person. I totally agree that this should have been a mini-series as opposed to a recurring one. I wonder if that was the original intent but then it proved so popular they want to milk it.

S-Natch, The only reason why Lydia remembered Emily is because of that picture that was taken from the party with Emily in the backround. I guess I should say Amanda, cause she was Amanda back then. I also think you are right about Victoria. Victoria knows she “knows” Emanda-I am going to have to call her this from now on :) -from somewhere. I am going to go with that particular party. She was pretty much everywhere during that party. Heck even Frank got that feeling that he knew her from somewhere when she started seeing Daniel.

I know I have not changed much from my high school years. Hell one of my friends posted high school pictures on her FB page, and tagged me in them, that bitch :) So yeah, nothing has changed except for maybe 50 pounds and 14 years, and a husband…

ps, I changed my screenname to SparkleBaby over in the T&T recaps, but I had to change it back to this, because if that Mini cap of lastnights show hits 300 someone has to shout out Sparkle Thundercunt!! You know who I am talking about :)

Oh and I also liked this episode, in a way, it was nice to see why she now truley hates all these people. I am hoping that next week is part of that party, and we get to see all those people again, well almost all, we know frank is a gonner, but what about Lydia…Have we seen her since her tumble off the roof and onto that taxi?

Yeah remember Lydia was in Grayson manor for a bit and Victoria was caring for her to find out what she remembered. She remembered everything but wasn’t talking. Conrad smuggled her out of the manor and hid her off somewhere. So I doubt we will see her again, but you never know.

The weirdest thing about this show. I was getting an odd hankering to rewatch “Bad Girls” and looked to see if Netflix had it (it did not! ) on instant watch. Then I started watching this show on Hulu and it had Madeline Stowe! It was like the first thing I have seen her in in a long time.

I also think they might have intended this as a one series deal or mini series but might try to stretch it out now. Wonder how they can make it last over two seasons tops is all I see them getting out of it. I would rather have a short awesome show, than a long show that dwindles and gets ridiculous.

Yes, April, I remember now, that is when Lydia remembered where she knew Em from. Not just from the hotel when she was with Conrad, but from the picture from the party.

I think the young girl that plays 8 yr old Amanda is adorable.

Nolan was so hot in this episode! I like pre-Hamptons Nolan fashion. Mmm. Jack’s hair had me laughing hysterically every time he was on screen. It was good to see Sammy (aka ZombieDog) again, but I felt like it took away some of the power of her seeing Sammy in the pilot. Like she couldn’t believe he was alive and that Jack kept him all this time. Obviously she knew. Womp womp.

While it was really great seeing all of our dearly departed/revenged cast members, I really wish that this episode had come earlier in this season. At this point, it was all somewhat interesting, but mostly just filler until the finale next week. What will I do when this show is off the air?

Boy was this a filler episode that should have been showed before the break. I did like seeing younger everyone. I wonder why we didn’t get to see mini-Daniel and Charlotte. I had a problem with NO ONE remembering Amanda when she had interactions with these people. I thought they didn’t remember her because she was in the shadows the entire time….nooooo she had MORE THAN ONE encounter with Frank WTF and Vicki. I will admit is was nice to get some (85% unnecessary) back story. But dammit the back story I want is when she travels the world and becomes a martial artist.

Me too Moli. I bet if they do another season we might get a martial arts training back story epi. I hope so! I told my hubby this show was for a minute there turning into a Kill Bill type martial arts movie and was taking a weird turn. I dug it.

I’m guess the writers will have another huge seret to reveal and that can get them another season.

I agree with what everyone said about the group remembering Amanda. I also wondered why no one had remembered her but those people are so wrapped up in their own lives,
    It seems totally possible.

    Great recap!

I always figured they would show that she had plastic surgery to change her appearance a bit, but that never happened. A lot of people look in the face exactly like they do as adults so you know Jack might recongize her that way.
