Sons of Anarchy Recap: Boxes, Bullets, Bites and Blackmail

Post butt surgery, Tara and Gemma have a convo in Jax’s office about how extreme the highs and lows of the life of a SAMCRO old lady can be.  I know a few manic depressives who would agree with you ladies.

At the sheriff’s department, Clay asks where the suspects are, since the holding room is empty.  Roosevelt tells him that the assault on the deputy was enough to charge them so they’re in the county jail.

Someone else is starting to get suspicious of Mr. Oxygen.

At the Roosevelt home, Rita awakes from a nap in the bedroom (you’re always so tired during your first trimester) to the sounds of someone in the house.  She calls out, “Eli?”, thinking it’s her husband, but there’s no answer.  Smart lady picks up the phone AND a gun, locks her door and calls 911.  She EVEN calls out, “I’ve got a gun and I’m calling 911!”  Someone was well-trained.

No B Horror Movie Heroine Here

Although she does everything right, alas, Rita still gets the business end of a gun for her trouble from one of the home invaders, who all bust into the bedroom and scuffle with her (she gets in a good neck scratch that draws blood!)

When the gun fails, use the nails!

until the shot is fired.  She falls to the ground and appears to have been shot right in the uterus.  Mr. Sutter doesn’t want us holding out hope ’til the next ep that the baby’s going to survive, I guess.

At Casa de Teller, Gemma brings by Jax’s box that CFP asked her to deliver.  Tara offers to let her feed Thomas because she’s so high tired.  I think maybe they’re starting to re-bond, but then when Tara tokes up on the couch while Gemma feeds Thomas in the nursery, I start to think that maybe Tara just needs a new dealer and wants to hit up Gemma for her contacts.

In the hospital, an anxious Sheriff Roosevelt is walking with his wife’s gurney down the corridor on the way to surgery.  Before she goes in to the operating room, he notices the skin under her nails and tells the nurse to make sure to get that skin for him.

I’m going to make a lampshade out of it!

As Jax drives onto his street, he sees Jacob Hale is waiting for him in a parked car.  When he stops and pulls alongside the mayor’s car, Jake hands him the lease for the old Elks Lodge building on Castle Road and tells him he’ll need three months rent in advance.  He asks Jax to take care of the blackmail.

So you won’t need an additional security deposit, then?  ‘Cause I’ve got some prospects who can take out your trash or butter your toast or whatever …

    O M G!

“Nero sends them Venus Van Dam, a transgender escort played by Justified‘s Walton Goggins, who worked with SOA creator Kurt Sutter on The Shield (where Goggins’ character, Shane Vendrell, used the alias Cletus Van Damme). ”

That was about the awseomenest ‘guest’ visit I have ever seen. We simply could not stop laughing. And poor horndog Tig. Just when things start getting a bit too dark and turgid, they whip out a character like Venus Van Dam.

And what is up with Clay? Is he behind the home invasions? Is all his weird behavior to try to regain control of SAMCRO? Still, he and Gemma may get back together if the thing with Nero or the thing with chicks doesn’t work out for her. Sadly, she’s starting to act as though she enjoys a little pre-coital beatdown.

OMG! Walter Goggins was AWESOME! I think Clay is behind the home invasions. I think he is doing everything in his power to make Jax look bad. That’s why he pushed to vote so soon on the escort thing too.

Venus Van Damme made my entire week. Here is a great article with the great Walton Goggins about his cameo: http://tv.yahoo.com/news/sons-anarchy-justifieds-walton-goggins-jaw-dropping-cameo-030000662.html

I loved the Sheild, I love Justified and my jaw dropped when I realized who was playing Venus. Amazing…and some much-needed levity.

Ugh, the Nero storyline is killing me! This week, I think he’s on the same side as the Sons. When he told Gemma about his plan for his kid, I was convinced. I am sure next week, I will think he’s undercover or something like that.

You would think a cop’s wife would be able to fire a gun better…

Observation: When Tara beat Carla’s ass, I swear I thought she used her cast hand.

OMG! The box! I was convinced there was a bomb in it.

She used both hands – amazing ahe didn’t re-break everything. Was it just me or did she seem disappointed to have the air cast? Guess it’s tough to do a serious beatdown on someone with a hand encased in, essentially, bubble wrap as opposed to plaster.
