Tara bursts in to the cabin’s living room and says they all have to go.  She’s holding her phone and says “It’s my babies.”  I guess this means we’ll soon find out if Abel’s going to make it to Season 6.

Whatever’s wrong with Abel, it looks serious since we see he is in some type of surgery.  However, Tara does not look worried.

Another bennie to being a doctor when you’re a SAMCRO old lady:  being able to watch your quasi-son’s surgery and pacify your worried husband.

The two decide together that if this accident was Gemma’s fault, then … they don’t specify but we know they’re united in doing something to her.

In Gemma’s hospital room, Clay is visiting and trying to comfort her as she comes to.  She’s inconsolable, even after Clay reports that the boys are going to be okay.  The rest of SAMCRO shows up in the waiting room and gets filled in that Thomas is fine but Abel had to have a surgery to correct an irregular heartbeat.  In Abel’s recovery room, Jax and Tara get Thomas back from Maggie, who tells them that Abel will be fine but needs to stay a few days to recover.

Who needs Disneyland?  Now this is family quality time!

Maggie tells Jax she’ll check on Gemma when Jax asks if his mom is awake yet.  Bobby comes in and tells Jax that Unser has arrived with info on the fingerprints.

Jax goes out and finds out that Unser had no problem finding the identity of the guy who shot at Jax and Chibs.  He was Charlie Turner, a guy from SoCal with a history of crimes who had been in and out of prison a lot, but had no gang affiliations other than the prison gang, Black Nation.  While the guys are puzzled that someone without a beef with SAMCRO would shoot at them, Maggie interrupts to tell Jax that Gemma’s awake.  All the guys follow him down the hall, muttering that this is not going to be good.

Luckily for Gemma, Clay is running interference.  Unfortunately for Clay, Jax is not intimidated by mom jeans and a Wal-Mart henley.

Jax kindly waits for the nurse to leave and asks Gemma what happened, and if she was drunk.  Clay jumps in and says the guys in the van that attacked Jax and Chibs ran Gemma off the road, too.  Mortified, Jax asks Gemma if she could identify anything about the van or the guys in it, and she demurs.  The guys walk in, and Jax and Clay walk out to the hall to confer with them.  Clay suggests that Pope is behind running Gemma off the road, since he has shown no qualms about hurting SAMCRO kids in the past.  Bobby pipes up that Pope wants a meet at the Oakland railyard, and Chibs, thinking ahead to possible scenarios, tells Tig to stay in Charming

I don’t care if you promise to leave your gun and anal beads at home … you still can’t come with us!

    “Get used to living in a brothel.” I loved that Jax told Gemma what she could look forward to if she didn’t do as he asked and worked Clay (so to speak). And I don’t for a minute believe he means for her to get back in their good graces, I think the new dark Jax has had it with his mother and Clay and will leave her to her fate if she does follow through and get him the info on Clay. She does deserve it.

    Chibs isn’t dead, he just got conked on the head. I have no idea why Frankie didn’t shoot him other than as a plot device to keep us guessing without actually killing Chibs. I also think that although Frankie could have more easily taken Lyla hostage he also probably assumed that the club wouldn’t have balked at following him in order to save a whore but would be much more careful of one of their brother’s lives. Frankie doesn’t really know Lyla or see her as the old lady of a member, just as a whore/porn actress working for Nero. I still wish they’d killed Chibs in jail instead of Opie because although I like the guy I still can’t understand a thing that handsome Irishman says any more.

    Sutter: either tone Chibs accent down some or give us subtitles. I’m missing a lot of dialogue here. Thanks ever so.

    All in all a good episode. Feel a little cheated that Abel had a ‘slight cut on his head’ and the big problem was his ‘heart rate’ or whatever that is easily not a problem quite quickly. He was in a surgical bay and Tara said something about ‘a line from his leg to his heart’ I think so it’ a little unclear to me what they were doing to that baby in there and why after all of that it wasn’t really any big deal after all. Very confused by Abel’s injury and treatment.

    @ApplePie I’m so with you on the love for Happy! He and Chibbs are my favorites

    I think the heart issue with Abel may have some significance that isn’t being revealed yet. Probably will allude to the “family flaw” e.g. the heart condition that killed Thomas (Jax brother) and maybe Abel has it.

    Best line of the night was when Jax was watching the procedure on Abel and said “Hasn’t this kid been through enough?”

    I don’t think they are going to kill Chibbs. I think that Juice just sealed his fate though. Probably will be killed off in the season finale.

    I think Abel was born with a hole in his heart from the meth bender Wendy went on, but it was repaired. I think that was why they were concerned with his heart rate being irregular.
    Clay is totally setting Juice up so it can seem like he discovered the rat, so he can get back in good with the club once his plans with the nomads is made public to everyone.

    Great recap, AP! I love how detailed you are.

    Ughhhhh, I want Clay to just die already. I hope that Jax has some other intentions w/ Gemma and Clay getting back together. Maybe they will take each other out and Jax won’t have to get his hands dirty??

    Totally on the Chibs train. My other fav is Filthy Phil – they big, curly haired guy who has like, 2 lines every episode. He’s like a big teddy bear w/ a gun and a motorcycle.

    My fav scene was Jax taking Thomas from Gemma so Tara could punch her. I knew that was coming and I loved it!!!

    I thought the Sons weren’t SUPER racist. Juice is half Puerto Rican and half black, what’s the big deal about his dad being black??? Latinos are okay, but not so much black people????

    I don’t Chibs is dead, but I did NOT like the fact K. Sutter made us hold our breath. That scene scared me!!!

    the club doesn’t allow black members that is why it was a big deal when Juice found out his father was black

    In one of the last WTF Sutter video blogs (sutterink.com S5 Ep 34 blog to be exact) they are talking about they just finished wrapping the season. Juice is in the video and said he hasn’t worked for 11 ish days but said that would be a spoiler if they said which episode (see around 5 minute mark). Think Juicy bites it soon……
