The guard drops Jax off at the watch commander’s office, and Pope is waiting for him. I get the feeling Pope’s not going to lay out some coffee and crumb cake for Jax. The commander leaves his office, after his offer to Pope to cuff Jax is declined. Then the two get down to brass tacks. Pope apparently has thought a lot about SAMCRO and realized the club is worth much more to him intact and alive rather than scattered and dead. He tells Jax that SAMCRO will now give Pope half of the $100,000 they clear each drug run for the Galindo cartel, which Jax says won’t happen without a sit-down. Pope cuts Jax off and tells him that this is not a discussion.
But he’s not done with his non-discussion yet. Pope requires that Tig stay in prison and get ass-raped every day as revenge for his daughter’s death. Finally, Pope insists that one of the four at SJCCF be killed in retaliation for the Niner highway death last season and Tig’s murder of Detective Goodman at the railyard, so Pope can maintain his relationships with Oakland law enforcement and the Niners.
Jax protests, but Pope throws some Art of War shit in his face and leaves. Post-credits, Commander Pare walks in and tells Jax that the SoA death will take place in solitary, because he doesn’t want any riots in his yard. He says Jax is to discuss specifics with the shift sergeant, who’s in charge of the operation.
Gemma goes to the hospital daycare to visit Abel and Thomas and is told by the staff that she needs a permission slip from Tara to visit with the kids while they’re at daycare.
Gemma angrily interrupts Tara’s medical consult with some concerned parents, and brushes aside Maggie (her sister-in-law in real life), who tries to stop her from going into Tara’s office.
Tara tells Gemma that she can’t bully her into letting Gemma co-parent. Man, this subplot is getting tired. It’s like listening to this all over again.
In the jail rec yard, Opie asks Jax to fill him in and asks Jax if he’s getting tired of chasing cash they don’t need and then spending every dime trying to stay alive. Jax tells Opie, Chibs and Tig only the info he’s comfortable sharing: that Pope wants half their mule money and that the guard sergeant will fill him in on the other demands. Opie doesn’t look like he buys it.
