Mary tells Chehon he was on fire tonight; so much better than the samba last week. She loved it and she felt the chemistry between the two of them. Nigel also loved it and talks about some style that was included but I don’t know (or care) what the fuck he is talking about. In a nutshell, he is delighted by their performance.
And just like that, it’s results time. Cat calls all the dancers onto the stage, and without much of a preamble, she announces the bottom six dancers: Janaya, Alexa, Witney, Nick, Daniel, and Chehon. CHEHON???!!??? WHAT THE FUCK AMERICA?!?!?!?!
I’m actually surprised that Witney is in the bottom as well. Personally I think Amber and Brandon should be there with their partners. I’m also not thrilled that Daniel is in the bottom because that means at least one ballet boy is going home, but I understand it more. I blame Alexa.
Cat asks Nigel about solos for the dancers and he says that there is no need tonight for the judges to see any solos from them. Of course there’s not. Not when they’ve got a whole big STEP UP REVOLUTION performance planned! No time for solos. Anyway, Nigel admitted a few seasons ago that the judges already know who they’re sending home before the solos anyway, so what’s the point? I predict we’ll only see solos when there’s extra time that needs to be filled, NOT because the judges need to see them.
Anyway, it’s time for the special STEP UP REVOLUTION preview. Cat tells us that many of our old favorites are in the movie and performing here tonight. I wonder when Tony Bellissimo became a fan favorite.
I’m not gonna lie, that was awesome. I’ll go see this movie for the same reason I’ve watched every other Step Up movie: the dancing is fucking bugnuts AMAZING!! I’m sure the story will be just as predictable as all the rest, but I know the dancing is gonna more than make up for that.
And now….it’s time to find out who will be staying and who will be going. Nigel first has to make a speech about how they’re not voting people off, they’re simply saving people (and booting off others). They only save people, okay? It’s important to stay unemotional because these are some of the best dancers they’ve ever had (we’ve never heard that before).
They’ve spoken to the choreographers from last week and this week, and the judges from both weeks, and the girl they’ve decided to save is Witney. I think that is the right choice, but I’m gonna be honest and say I am a little surprised. I thought for sure they were going to save Alexa. Maybe Nigel has finally realized that once he sours America on a dancer, there is just no coming back from that.
