Next up are Damon and Deon. They talk about how many numbers they’re gonna get; even more than last year when they auditioned. In FACT, they had Cat’s number last year but never called her(hardy har har); there’s some story about a lost phone and then Cat says maybe they were too busy taking calls from the legal reps of Les Twins. LOLOLOL!
In case you don’t remember, these guys did an awesome audition piece last year and then were ripped apart later for ripping off a number by French twins Les Twins. They call their audition last year a “tribute” and a helpful side by side comparison shows that it was the exact same piece.
Now, Damon and Deon say that they did mention Les Twins last year and that it just wasn’t shown. Sure enough when they roll the tape there’s something about it being an homage to them, saying it was inspired by them. Inspired by and choreographed by are two totally different things.
Nigel remembers them (or has been reminded by the sheet in front of him). This year they’re bringing their own flavor to the audition. I’m sure a crap ton of people then spent their time looking for another number that they copied.

They’re good and a lot of fun to watch, even if they do rip off pay homage to other people’s work.
Nigel says he still doesn’t know what they can do in other styles or if they can dance with a girl partner. He’d like to see them go to choreography. Mary agrees and so does Debbie. So on to choreography they are going!
In the end, Deon does not get put through to Vegas, but Damon does. I love that he’s super excited for him. Britney also gets through to Vegas as well as thirteen other dancers. Is that total?
And there you have it, Gasmi. Looks like the ATL was PACKED with talent this year. Any favorites for you?
Next week we head to Salt Lake City and Adam Shankman guest judges. Looks like SOMEONE needs to cut back on the caffeine!
See you there!

I love Cat! I don’t think that can be said enough.
If were the dancers from the other cities, I would be really jealous that the Atlanta dancers got to have Debbie Allen watched them.
I loved the belly dancer, but I might be a little bias since I’m from Alabama too. I love belly dancing and would love to learn how to do it.
Loved the Dragon House dancers, especially the last guy. I really hope at least makes it the top 20 too, but since I want it to happen it probable won’t happen.
The Selena Gomez Stalker was super annoying. He’s one of those people you just want to punch in the face every time they talk . And the more he kept talking the more that urge grew for me.
I’m really happy for your recaps PottyMouth. For the second week in a row a thunderstorm started during the show, knocking the satellite signal out. So I miss the beginning of the 2nd day and the first 2 dancers.
So first I have to admit I did watch The Choice. I had no intention whatsover until I heard Cat was hosting so I figured I would give it a chance. And it was awful, and slightly disappointed in Cat for being a part of it. It was really painful. But since Cat’s amazing, hopefully it will soon be just a blip on her radar and no one will remember.
I loved Glitch because it’s so rare people that do popping and locking or the robot show much emotion. But he just lit up the stage with his smile and showed all sorts of facial expressions and emotions. I loved his two buddies too. This was definitely the best audition show in a long time.
PM, thanks for the recap; wonderful as always!
I don’t know there is something about Joshua I don’t like, he’s an excellent dancer…just something…Karate guy seems a tad smarmy, don’t like him either. WTF, did you see that horrible ‘ballet’ judges?? You saw that crap live, it s-u-c-k-e-d-. Nigel had a pervgasm watching Glitch. I loved all the Dragon House! I have to watch the second half, I just haven’t gotten to it yet.
I am loving how people are actually doing choreography for there auditions instead of just a bunch of moves. I also love the variety of guys we’ve seen (especially Hugh…what he’s not auditioning?) but as wonderful as the girls have been I wish I could see a girl that isn’t jazz/lyrical/contemperary knock it out of the park. Love this show, love PM, love all the commenters!
@Blazergirl…you took the words right outta my mouth. Cat Deeley is one of my favoritest people on reality TVso I watched “The Choice” solely out of my love for her. It wasn’t funny or cute or so-bad-you-had-to-watch. It was just plain bad. I didn’t even know who two of the dudes were. Cat, God love her, tried so hard to make it watchable but we turned it off before the end.
Anyway, love the recaps and can’t wait for the performance shows to start!
The auditions so far have been crazy good, but has anyone else noticed they haven’t shown ONE ballroom dancer? Unless I’m forgetting, everything seems to be hip-hop, then contemporary with the occasional other style (belly dancing, etc).
It doesn’t seem believable that no good ballroom dancers have auditioned yet, and obviously some of them are going to make the top 20 so where are they…?
I was super impressed with the ATL auditions. Other than the karate guy and those twins (GAH-I hate them), all of the auditions they showed in full were actual good dancers.
And @fawm-I agree. This audition round had actual choreography instead of the stick my leg up in the air olympics.
I thought the belly dancer was great in her style, but I’m interested to see how she does in Vegas. I can totally tell that chicken hasn’t had the greatest training. She has a decent foundation, but there isn’t alot of power in her moves. Nothing she did really went to the next level-her teachers seem to have taught her really basic stuff. Solid, but still. Although the husband think she looks like she took dance classes from the local strip club and then tried to translate it-so who knows.
Potty you are AWESOME as always. Did you see Hugh on the Tony’s this weekend? And Alex Wong?
Dragons, Zombies, Exorcists…is this SYTYCD or Game of Thrones?
Alex Wong was on the Tony’s????? I’m not happy I missed him!
Last night featured a fabulous ballroom danced named Witney Carson. She reminded me a lot of Chelsie Hightower.
Imagine if Dragon House crew was on ABDC…sickening!
@blazergirl He’s in the Newsies cast. As is Evan (season 5), Thayne (season 4), and Jess (season 8). But Alex was featured in the Tony telecast.
Heck-Evan apparently has a few lines in a speaking role.
Thanks for recapping what I think were probably the best, or one of the best, audition shows ever. Just a great show. Amazing dancers. Loved the Dragon House dudes. Pure artistry. And if they don’t make it past Vegas, I hope that they bring them back as guests. A very positive and heartening show!
Correcting my grammar – “what I think “was” the best…” Ahahaha. Neurotic? Yes.
