As you may recall, “Hall Brawl” involves pushing through an opponent in a narrow hallway to ring a bell on the other side. You probably at least remember Big Easy awesomely ringing the bell with Wes’ head.
The non-ARENA’ed girls sit on the sidelines talking about Jonna being manipulative and trashy and homeless and whatnot. The girls are up first, and Sam tells us that she’s fast, so Hall Brawl is her game. Combine that with the fact that she’s up against elvin sprite Jasmine, and it’s over quickly. Sam takes the first two heats and now it’s all up to CJ. Poor Jasmine feels like she let her team down, even though Jonna did that by not going in, even though she had a better chance of winning. Maybe not much better, because she’s still pretty tiny, but there are members of the Lollipop Guild who are bigger than Jasmine, so…
Quite frankly, I expect this to be over just as quickly. Or as Sarah puts it, she doesn’t wonder if Zach will beat any other guy there, but how many bones will be shattered by his Hulk Smash.
But THEN! In the first guy’s heat, after a brief wrestling match, CJ manages to drag Zach back by the legs far enough to WIN the first round! Gotta admit, I did not see that coming at all. Not only that, he out-races Zach in the second round and wins that one too! We’re on to a tie-breaker! Zach says he knows how strong and smart CJ is, so he was dreading this.
And is apparently attemting to also be Captain America, in addition to being Thor and the Hulk. He’s nowhere near witty enough to be Iron Man, though.
And the tie-breaking falls to the guys, which means it’s going to be an actual fight! Despite Zach’s attempts to use CJ’s “drag by the legs” move, CJ manages to keep crawling until Teej tells them to break it up, and CJ wins AGAIN. Jonna is torn between her team and her lover. Devyn thinks Zach must hate getting his ass beat by the guy chasing his ex-girlfriend… even though that will be true regardless of who wins this.
Zach finally manages to win the next round by literally just jumping right the fuck over CJ. It’s actually kind of badass. Not as badass as the moves CJ was pulling, but nonetheless. This is a really good battle, much better than I expected. In the final, decisive round, Zach finally manages to overpower CJ and pushes him all the way through the hall and to the bell. He doesn’t ring the bell with CJ’s head or anything, but he does finally pull off the decisive victory we were all expecting from round one.
Zach and CJ saying a loving goodbye. It seems they have a bit of a bromance going on. CJ says he’s leaving without any money, but with things that mean much more. He’s way too sentimental for these things. He gives Ashley a heartfelt hug goodbye.
Unrequited love! It’s better than money!
