Seriously, if he suddenly starts getting a lot of screentime, it will be a strong hint that he’s gone by the end of the episode. But anyway, Derek speaking is the biggest surprise here, because of course the St. Thomas thing was just a red herring and Fresh Meat is once again ARENAed. (If St. Thomas was going in, it probably would have been Jonna speaking, since she seemed most offended by Marie’s anger.) Devyn reminds us that she and JD will probably be facing Big Easy and Camila, meaning their romantic days together in this hellish paradise are limited.
Trey expresses concern to CJ that the only reason his team was spared was because Robb and Marie defended him. No, the only reason your team was even mentioned is because they needed a red herring for drama. The more surprising part here is that Marie actually made such an effort to defend Trey, who she can’t stand, even if it was just self-preservation. Trey is sad that no one is asking for his opinions on alliance matters.
As a potential aspiring politician, he’s not comfortable with decisions being made without him, even ones that were made by these people before he ever met them.
Oh no, Chet and CJ are fighting! Not the sane people! Although at least that means it’s a coherent fight, and therefore easier to understand/recap. CJ says he respects Chet as a friend and competitor, but Chet is having none of it since CJ is part of the alliance that keeps sending him into the ARENA. CJ doesn’t appreciate being labeled as a phony because Chet chose the wrong alliance. I anticipate a future Challenge in which Chet comes back to enact vengeance on his former friend CJ.
… Or, possibly, the ghost of Chet is already here to do that. Look out for the next challenge, CJ!
Out at da club, we get a nice montage o’good times before we head over to the double date that is Sarah/Alton chilling with Devyn/Big Easy. The latter pairing goes on for a bit about how they didn’t expect to find a love connection on this here Challenge, but now they are, as Phoebe Buffay would say, “so the smitten kittens.” They both keep up walls, aren’t used to this, etc.
On the bus home, Camila is not happy about the way the last challenge was played, saying that it’s all about “making sure the other teams lose, and that’s not real competition.” Which is a pretty hilarious quote out of context, because that is pretty much literally the definition of competition. Seriously, go read that again. But anyway, if it bothers her that much, she should tell the producers to stop designing challenges that promote such strategizing.
Jemmye and Camila start yelling at each other, which sends Devyn on a friggen TIRADE. Knight joins in, and Robb holds him back while he takes the briefest of detours to “bitch” before dropping straight to the C word. Class act, he is. Nany holds Jemmye back as everyone just yells at each other a whole fucking bunch. Trishelle is not thrilled to be on the crazy bus tonight, dealing with all of the insanity.
Camila is clearly not serious about this fight, as she is still wearing her earrings.
If you like it, spread it!:

Cara Maria’s hair extensions (real dreads??) looks like colorful ferrets nested on her head and died.
MoRum is going to be the new Walnuts/Tonya. Gotta love those alcoholic women!
Knight sucks at life. And has sick-o man boobs. And he needs braces. And a new personality.
Knight related – on the after show, he still stuck with the whole “I was just helping Nany get her clothes clean” story. It was pathetic. Learn to admit when you are wrong and it’ll make you a better person, fuck wad.
I was also surprised that MTV had someone that did their laundry, but with that many people in one house, it’s probably easier than sharing a washer and dryer.
I think Dustin is a genuinely nice guy, and that’s why Teacup look passed his gay porn days. I am pretty sure they are actually living together now. Teacup probably told him to keep an eye on Nany b/c I choose to believe they are still friends and Teacup always seemed pretty chill and awesome. I might have said this before too, but I do not think Dustin is gay.
I love your recaps VA!
I think Dustin is a decent person. Decent people will try to calm down a hysterical woman.
Knight is not a decent person.
I hope and pray that they have one more challenge and Knight (or RYAN) meets CT and tries to pull that “master manipulator” shit.
Oh man, to watch CT scream at him for 8 hours straight would be bliss.
Devyn doesn’t need to tell Eric shit.
Everytime I got into a new relationship and my new boyfriend asked about past relaitionship I would tell them that I have never ever even kissed a boy before I met them.
And to ignore the three children and one ex husband, I am pure as the driven snow and that is all he is going to get out of me.
I also don’t get why these girls are such pussies and want to go home if anything happens.
Don’t get me wrong if I was drinking and Knight (or RYAN) threw my clothes into the pool I would Lose. My. Shit!
I wouldn’t cry, Knight (or fucking RYAN) might end up crying because I would go in on his ass and when I’m drunk I go for the lowest.
I wuold call out his pasty, chunky, fug as fuck ass.
For starters..then I’d make up shit about his family.
Tell him that his co workers hate him.
And then take no responsibility for it later.
“Cause I was drunk!
(not that I have ever done that…at a funeral)
I think Dustin is a genuinely nice guy, that has to be why Teacup stayed with him after the gay porn revelation. And, probably the reason that there’s hasn’t been too much harassment about his gay porn past on the two challenges he’s been on. You know if he was a jerk at all, the rest of the guys wouldn’t hesitate to throw that back in his face.
I was kind of impressed with Big Easy lifting all those rocks…but then I cringed when they showed him holding it all up (all sweaty and red-faced and Easy-like) and Devyn said it “was the most turned on she’d ever been”. Vomit! I guess after all those years of playing with old balls, anyone under 40 seems sexy to you :p
Dustin really does seem like a nice guy. The good of the team was likely in the back of his head, but Nany is his friend and he was going to look out for her first and foremost. I’m right there with you on missing the Las Vegas season. What’s so funny is that despite the drama of the season, They are the one cast in recent memory that I can imagine having normal lives in the actual real world. Aside from Adam, I can see the rest being good contributing members of society. Hell even Naomi is in college trying to better herself. It’s one of the few Real World seasons that had it’s audience rooting for it’s cast.
The more I see of Trey (including his whole season) the worse he gets. I can’t wait till he gets sent to the arena and thank goodness it seems like it will be soon.
Can’t wait for the trivia! And it seems like from the previews that TJ is excited too. I love it when he shows enough energy to mock the cast.
Ok, I am so distracted by Devyn’s hair. Is she wearing a wig? The hair line just doesn’t look right. I don’t care if she wears a wig, but get one that looks a little more realistic.
I wouldn’t doubt Devyn has extensions. She seems very high maintenance and into her looks, but she also seems pretty cool and well spoken, so I don’t fault her.
I like Devyn too, I just am so distracted by the hair. And it doesn’t look like extensions but a wig. Can extensions make a hair line look that fake? Sorry, totally can’t let go of it. I agree though that she is cool and definitely one of the more tolerable cast members.
So I’m curious why exactly Knight decided to go after Nany, someone in his alliance? Why not go after Camilla? She’s proven she’s insane when she drinks. Marie also can be unstable, so why didn’t he try to break her down? It just doesn’t seem to make sense to me.
@blazergirl, I think Knight was mad because Vegas thought about putting them in the Arena the week before. Even though it wasn’t Nany that wanted to do that, who knows what the impression they gave NOLA outside of how it was edited. It doesn’t make it clever, I just think he was irritated that they’d even consider them, and Nany was the easiest target from the team.
Supposedly everything was edited out of order, and the huge fight happened before the laundry incident.
I think Devyn’s hair is a wig, I remember some of the girls putting them on in an earlier episode. She seemed to have a suitcase dedicated to them.
I never watched the back to New Orleans season and after putting up with an hour of Knight’s douchebag antics, I’m glad I took a pass. What a waste of skin.
Dustin can bang anything and anyone he likes. On screen, off screen. For free or for money. He seems like a nice guy and a good friend. He comes across as a far better person than anyone else on this show.
Love the sidebars – keep ‘em comin!
Yeah, sidebar good!
As to who should go home in this arena – definitely Dead Meat. Camilla is such a poor sport. Funny, how she doesn’t like to be on the receiving end of the treatment she and Johnny Backpack dished out last challenge.
Loved the sidebars!
And I could not agree with you more about Knight’s use of the word manipulation. Calling a woman a bitch or a c word is neither manipulative or clever. Any idiot can pull that one out of his hat. Way to go lowest common denominator and then act like it makes you smart.
Okay. Totally off subject but I rem. Brittany (from Big Brother) putting in gross Rachel’s hair extensions, but not a RW incident of this. BUT it could’ve totally happened!!!
I completely agree about Dustin! I loved how he handled Nany when she was upset, it was very big-brother, not condescending or belitting, and Knight is a complete douche who you know Jemmye will crawl into bed with. Also, what is with his teeth?
Knight is disgusting. I know The Challenge was not invented in order to showcase the best that humanity has to offer, but I can’t with Knight… just can’t.
I completely agree about Dustin. He’s definitely a good guy. I didn’t quite get why Mike (on his season) disliked him so much. Not to say Dustin is/was always perfect, but he seems like he’s always trying to be a good guy. Teacup (her name escapes me) is such a strong, great person. She’s probably a great influence in his life.
I don’t really get Devyn and Big Easy, but if they are happy…….
I’m sure it’s very frustrating to be on a Challenge and not be on the alliance that is controlling everything, but you can’t complain about it – especially when you benefited from it in the past. I hope Camilla and Big Easy leave – not that I really like Devyn and (? the other Brooklyn guy – not Chet). I do like Sarah and Chet. They seem like nice people.
Thanks so much for the recap.
I’m rooting for Big Easy and Camilla to go home for two reasons: (1) I’m sick of Camilla’s whining about everything being “unfair” after being in the power alliance on previous challenges and (2) I want there to be only 1 team left that’s not at least affiliated with the alliance. It’ll be interesting to see how quick they all start throwing each other under the bus when that happens!
am i the only one that can’t stand Cancun? I hope the alliance breaks and they go home
@Maria I’m right there with you, can’t stand any of them except maybe CJ.
@Enrique’s Mole Knight wasn’t even the worst douchebag on his season, you should have seen Hair (the other Ryan).
Loving the recaps!
^Ugh, there was a bigger douche than “Knight”? How is that even possible?
What I didn’t get this episode is why everyone was trying to hold Nany back and get her to stop, yet no one told “Knight” to STFU and to lay off.
