The Newsroom Recap: Is That All There Is?

Will busts into Mackenzie’s interview to call the blonde “sorority girl,” then blame her for his shame spiral of the last year and a half. Because accepting responsibility for the consequences of your actions is for suckers. Jenny actually accepts responsibility for his bullshit and tells Will she watches the show and she’s read the article and she “knows what a greater fool is,” and she wants to be one. How noble?

Ask your idiot question, again.
Okay, who’s the biggest asshole in the room?

I guess so because Will browbeats her to ask her “idiot question” again and when she does he tells her she makes this the greatest country, then tells Mackenzie to hire her. Mackenzie responds with an anemic smile and an unprofessional shout out to Will about the voice mail. Let it go, woman.

Will and Lonny leave and face the “fans” like Will’s Sally Field in Soapdish (I know I already made that joke, but if Sorkin’s going to recycle, why shouldn’t I?) and fake Enya starts as we fade to Nina in her apartment, listening to the voice mail…only we don’t hear the end of it. What? That’s just stupid. Fake Enya’s still chanting over her Casio while Lonny escorts Will to the car and Nina dolefully deletes the voice mail. We fade out on Will and his wattle mulling over how lonely it is being the most important man in the world.

The end.

About

Vallegirl has never actually lived in a valley, has a lot of time on her hands and likes to yell at kids about how things were in her day.  Currently in LA, she's also spent a lot of time in the great states of  New York and Florida so she's not crazy, it's just a cultural thing.

vallegirl I’m not entirely sure why I stuck with this show, except that it allowed me to enjoy your recaps more. Thanks, and speaking of thanks, I’m really thankful we’ll have Boardwalk Empire back soon instead of this dreck.

Thanks…and I’m sorry you went through that. But thanks.

And I’m crazy excited about the new season of Boardwalk Empire. I think it’s Bobby Cannavale’s eyebrows of fury that clinched it. Jimmy was a big loss but Rosetti looks promising.

You know, newsroomFan, if you’re so exhausted by opinions that differs from your own, you could always go elsewhere on the Internet.

And, @newsroomfan, you could provide eloquent counterpoints to @vallegirl’s POV, rather than just be a your run-of-the-mill internet hater.
