This Week in YouTube

Watercooler

Greetings, Gasmii! How y’all doing? Getting through “the holiday season?” Remember, egg nog’s supposed to be served with rum. I, myself, went to the company holiday party last night, and in honor of the great American tradition of people getting drunk, weird and inappropriate in front of their co-workers just because there’s an open bar, I present This Week in YouTube: WTF? Edition.

Tonight is the season finale for Boardwalk Empire. I has a sad, and if you watch it I’m sure you do, too. But have you ever noticed how Steve Buscemi dies a lot. And violently, often from shots to the face. I’m sure that’s a metaphor for something but I refuse to consider what it is because Steve is made of sunshine, unicorns and cupcakes. But someone has compiled the many deaths of Steve Buscemi, just in case you want to impress your friends with this bit of trivia at your own company holiday party.

Put on the closed captioning for details. I was rather amused at his episode of Tales from the Crypt.

Are you a cat person? A dog person? I don’t mean which do you prefer as a pet but do you act like a cat or dog in real life? Of course you don’t because, let’s be honest, they’re both fucking annoying in their very own special ways. Would you like to know what it would be like to be the third roommate in that house?

Yeah, I still prefer the cat.  Here’s what my own cat Billie thinks of that video:

She ain’t got no class. (I did not pose her like that.  She sits like that herself.)

You know what? No one’s ever figured out how to market cat masseuses. You know they love to soften you up for their naps, and their sharp, tiny claws work well as meat tenderizers. Yeah, they never do what you want and leave presents for you if you piss them off, but still, imagine the possibilities. Until then, watch this kitten massage another kitten.

Relaxing.

This next video is quite possibly the most WTF? of the bunch because I still don’t know why anyone would look at a trailer for some Japanese anime (Manga? I can’t tell the difference.) and mash it up with Lonely Island but it still cracks me up a year later. By the way, NSFW for language.

A friend posted this on his Facebook page and once my granola-crunching pinko sensibilities got over watching a corporately-sponsored video, because I’m prog like that (not really) I was completely fascinated by Mushroom Man.

I use this word way too often and usually ironically but that might have been legit awesome. And who knew mushrooms were so pretty?

Lastly, it’s time to remember that cats and dogs are not the only OMG! ADORABLE!!! Animals in this great big world. Here Peter the Elephant shows the world just how much he likes rag music.

How didn’t you post the most evil prank of all time? (I guess _technically_ it isn’t on YouTube, but still…):

Well…I hadn’t seen that until today, so thanks!

But since it’s on Gawker I probably wouldn’t have linked because it already had plenty of recent exposure. I’m trying to find the long forgotten or never known gems, both WTF and otherwise.

    And of course, cats.

Apparently all it takes to make me happy is a guy and an elephant playing ragtime. An excellent selection, as usual. Thanks.

Thanks for a lovely selection. Loved the elephant beaning the pianist with appreciation for the ragtime!
