Pageant day! Mackenzie is getting sprayed brown and they have decided not to use the flipper. I don’t blame her – it looked weird and she kept playing with it in her mouth.
Ana is having her makeup done and the makeup artist tells her she’ll look like a Real Housewife of Atlanta when she’s done. Is that really a good thing?
Head-bobbing Quinoa says she knows the competition is fierce but Ana has a great personality and she’s very entertaining, head-bob, head-bob. I get the feeling by the way Quinoa is acting versus Ana is acting, Ana is out the door the first chance she gets, to the college that is the furthest away from the hot nonsense that is her family.
Oh no – this is the first time they are trying fake eyelashes on Lacey…like you couldn’t have tried them at home? Unlike some kids, Lacey-Mae is totally calm, cool and collected and not only do they work, she looks great. Thanks, TLC! Jerks.
Mackenzie tells her mother not to do the motions for the routines – she knows what to do, and that’s pretty impressive considering some of the kids with marinara on this show. Crystal is nervous and feels out of her element, but she never really lets us see it and she doesn’t let Mackenzie see it, which is good.
Mackenzie is beautiful – she looks adorable in her dress and she does a great job. However, Crystal does do the moves with her and Mac rolls with it but is kind of irritated. One of the judges didn’t think it was her first glitz pageant she did so well.
Kerry Ann, on the other hand, could never play poker because her tell is the stress on her face – all over it! Her worry is what people will think of her daughter and I totally get that – you want to protect your kid. But it’s not like she’s some dumbass piece of biting, punching, swearing squid with bad manners and a total lack of toddler vocabulary, you know? Lacey has her shit together bigtime. And littletime.
She gets worried when Lacey lines up with the other kids and she’s so much more petite than they are, and worries they will say something rude to her. Why, is Alaska here?
Let’s roll! Lacey-Mae is up first and I have to say, her smile is unbelievable! She totally has the WHOLE PACKAGE. This kid has confidence that we haven’t seen in a long time and she is so cute! I totally want to go have root beer with this kid. The only critique was the length of the dress, but I think from the comments last week we’ve figured out that she has an average sized torso and shorter legs, so she needs that space in the top part of the dress but not the bottom. I’m sure our good friend and rock star pageant dress maker Beth could figure it out but honestly, Lacey kicks ass and everyone knows it.
Ana is up first and they actually pronounce the Dimitri’ana correctly…wow. For a kid who seemed so confident, she didn’t seem as confident onstage. However, she looked beautiful and I think the thing that is striking for all these girls profiled in this episode is the eye-contact and how much life they have in their faces – I mean, you can see these kids in this episode have something going on in their brains besides pretty dresses.
