Next up in Smiths Station, Alabama…wow, even that photo makes that little girl look sad, plus her dad is in a military outfit so he must be deployed somewhere (later in the show, it looks like he’s back home, so phew!). Although after seeing Deiry throughout this whole show, who wouldn’t sign up for duty in Afghanistan? It’s probably less stressful.
Deseray, 8, is really cute and looks very smart and alert. Mom Deiry (oddly pronounced Di-Di for some reason) says she did pageants when she was younger and it was SO MUCH FUN so she figured Deseray would love it just as much as she did. Mind you, she never asked Deseray, but why bother when living your life through your kids? I immediately hate her.
Also? I’m guessing third runner up, if not just a participation pity crown.
Deiry and Deseray joke about who has more crowns and Deiry says she not only has more crowns but says she “was much better than you” to her own daughter. What a bitch! Deseray interviews that her mother is trying to relive her teenage days again. And how.
A picture says a thousand words…and this one says when Deseray is 18, she’s GONE.
Deiry is really putting on a show for the cameras and interviews that she puts much more work into these pageants than Deseray. Gee, I wonder why. She makes the outfits, the hairpieces, and “everything for her so all she has to do is come in and shine.” Something is really wrong with that whole process.
And that wrong thing is that my mother has no life of her own right now.
The two of them are looking at two different beauty dresses and Deiry asks Deseray which one she wants to wear, and she says the yellow one. And in typical mom fashion, Deiry disagrees because she thinks the blue is better. “I love blue,” she says.
And I think you should do what I say since this pageant really is all about ME.
Deseray looks defeated, like this isn’t the first time her opinion has been discounted by her mother. Oh, honey, get in line behind ALL of us on that one.
I’m sorry my opinion doesn’t match yours, but isn’t that the textbook definition of an OPINION?
Deiry says the thing we all hate the most, “I am a perfectionist,” which is total bullshit, then she remembers that it’s not about her and she says she just wants Deseary to “have fun,” although it looked like she was going to say, “be perfect,” didn’t it?
Deseray tries on the yellow which is very pretty and Deiry asks her to try on the blue. She interviews that if Deseray chooses the blue, it will be like, “I won, I won, I won!” she says, dancing back and forth. Did I mention I HATE HER? Who says that about her own kid? Deseray chooses the blue from the mom pressure and Deiry screams, “I WON!” to which Deseray holds her ears and says, “My eardrums!” Quality time, as always.
