Brooklyn is only 21 months old and she’s throwing a fit about whatever 21 month olds throw fits about. She’s been in a lot of pageants and Amy said she did them when she was a young girl because they were so fun.
“These pageants will help her with a lot of life skills when she goes to look for a job,” Amy says, very quickly. Cut to Brooklyn who says as she points to her body parts, “Elbow….eye…nose…” Very much like most of my meetings.
Amy says glitz pageants are all about little girls looking perfect and they like them because they like Brooklyn to look perfect. She’s under 2 years old, trust me when I tell you this kid is leaking from someplace on her body, so perfect seems a little high of a goal right now. Or ever.
“Fake eyelashes, flippers…I kind of want one myself, it would be so nice to have perfect teeth,” Amy says, motioning to her already-perfect teeth.
Someone off-camera says, “What about shaping eyebrows?” and Amy misunderstands and says, “Shaving your eyebrows you should definitely do,” and the person off-camera corrects her and says, “SHAPING.” Oh, come on now…the ShamBrow™ does BOTH. I didn’t think that was fair.
Then Amy goes off, “Have you seen some of those kids, not at pageants, just in the world,” and she makes a hand gesture to sort of show the unibrow situation. Heee. Yes we have.
Dad Adam tells us when they first entered Brooklyn in pageants he thought it was a waste of time AND money, but now just sees it as a waste of money. Seems like the waste of money would be the bigger issue.
Amy tells us that Adam is very involved in Brooklyn’s pageants because “He provides all the money,” then tells us that her job doesn’t pay very much, because, “I don’t have one.” I’m going to go out on a limb and say that’s probably why you don’t get paid.
Amy and Adam are being interviewed outside and they look like they’ve never met. Adam says he doesn’t know how much they’ve spent on this pageant, but it probably was “too much.” He asks Amy what they spent and she says it depends on what you add. Thank you Einstein.
But then she says some things can be used at several pageants, “So that’s how you justify buying them.” Adam says you can justify about anything and Amy agrees. These two barely make eye contact and they look ungodly uncomfortable with each other. It’s really weird.
Back with Bella we are seeing her safari wear, which is a banana phone. Enough said.
