The very first Garfield comic strip was published on this date in 1978. Maybe it’s just because I’m used to what they look like now, but the original Jon and Garfield aren’t anything to write home about.

I didn’t realize Jimmy Kimmel got up this early.

Hell’s Kitchen (Fox 8pm) The contestants must create a menu for fashion designers; the winning team receives a new wardrobe, while the losers are left to prepare for a dinner service runway show.

The world will finally catch a glimpse of those reclusive designers, Mr. Faded Glory and Ms. NOBO, not to mention the mysterious White Stag.

The Catalina (The CW 8pm) Eyal thinks he has discovered how to make Morgan a happier person.

Fortunately for everyone concerned, this also greatly improves the viewing experience.

Pretty Little Liars (ABC Family 8pm) Spencer learns a secret when her mother takes on Garrett as a client; Emily gets news about her English exam; Aria keeps tabs on Jenna by becoming her accompanist; Hanna reaches out to Lucas.

This show, you guys. I just don’t know anymore.

The O’Reilly Factor (Fox News Channel 8pm)

An hour full of “fair and balanced” commentary delivered by a guy who looks like a televangelist.

MasterChef (Fox 9pm) The cooks must create a unique dish using unconventional cuts of meat.

The awful offal episode.

Jane By Design (ABC Family 9pm) Ben and Billy struggle to throw a surprise party for Jane on her birthday; India pressures Jeremy to obtain information on Gray.

Growing up watching ABC Family shows must really screw with one’s expectations for what a normal adolescence looks like.

The Real Housewives of Orange County (Bravo 9pm) Heather celebrates her new last name with a fabulous party; Vicki flaunts an expensive gift from Brooks, which exacerbates the tension between her and Briana.

I’d be annoyed too if my mom lent some creep thousands of dollars so that he could buy her a present.

The Deadliest Catch (The Discovery Channel 9pm) The captains face a losing battle against the descending polar ice pack; the Northwestern and Wizard struggle to escape St. Paul harbor.

I didn’t realize Scylla and Charybdis had moved that far north.
