To choose their opponent they must “draw knives.”  Kerry, however, will not draw a knife.  In fact, he won’t even cook.  Kerry will be one of the judges and is guaranteed a spot in the Final Four.  That’s a pretty sweet win.  The Chefs will not know the ingredients prior to going into the ring.  They will need to cook on the fly.

The lineup for the preliminary challenge is: Takashi vs Chris and Patricia vs Lorena.   Lorena is psyched- she is still pissed off from last week when Patricia had to tell Lorena to clean up her area.

I’m going to put Patricia in her place.  (Hopefully it’s the final four)

The Chefs take a break and go to Milos for lunch.  

I’ll see YOU on my plate in a few minutes

They are greeted by Costas Spiladis the chef/owner of Milos.  He serves the chef salt-cooked fish.

I had fish cooked this way in Turkey- omg- it is amazing.  Simple and delicious.  During the lunch, in voice-over, Patricia says she is glad to be going up against Lorena.  She feels she has a broader pallet and background than Lorena.  Chris knows his battle with Takashi will be intense. He knows he can beat him, but he needs to think it through.

The Elimination Challenge venue is set up like a boxing ring with two cooking stations.  

Let’s get ready to sauuuuuuuuuuuteeeeee

The critics are Sugar Ray Leonard, James Oseland, Kerry Hefferman, Krista Simmons, Curtis and jane Goldman editor of Chow.com.  There will be a preliminary round Takashi vs Chris and Lorena vs. Patricia. The winners of both will cook-off for the win, the losers of both will cook-off, the loser will be eliminated.  Hmmm, Patricia’s Mole doesn’t seem to be battling anyone.  Maybe it could cook against Chris’s glasses?

I must break you

Up first is Takashi vs Chris, Curtis requests a Clean Fight, Clean Cook.  Under a cloche is their main ingredient.  They have 20 minutes to make a GREAT dish using:  BACON.

Chris immediately has 5 dishes in mind.  Takashi requests a piece of tuna. Haha.  But he quickly starts cooking some dried apricots and figs.

Chris starts working with some corn and jalapeno.  He is sure to cook an extra piece of everything- just in case of disaster.

    After Lorena won her round, I switched channels. Anyone other than SHE going home is a travesty. I think that Super Creep Oseland is trying to throw the competition to her.

    Ugg- I was so disappointed with the outcome. I wanted Lorena to get the boot. The more I see her, the more I dislike her. Her “positive”attitude is so aggressively negative and those Taco Bell commercials during the show don’t help to make her likeable.

    MisRed, I love the chef side notes! And the recaps are entertaining, as always. :)

    I was so mad when it came down to Patricia and Takashi because I didn’t want either to go home. I, too, wanted Lorena to get the boot. I want a do-over.

    I wonder what the other chefs think about Lorena hawking for Taco Bell. She destroyed her credibility before the competition ever started in my way of thinking. I want her to get a tummy ache from eating too much cilantro so they can bring Takashi back.

    And I thought the dishes that they made looked and sounded yummy (Pat and Takashi, that is).

    I also hated that Lorena got to stay. She is so incredibly fake, with all her exaggerated mannerism and attempts at appearing funny and cute. She is a total attention whore with even bigger stealth douchiness that Art….she drives me up the wall.

    I’m sad that Takashi left, but I’m hoping that Patty will have another chance to take Lorena down.

    Guys – I agree with all of you who aren’t fans of Lorena!!! She’s just too in your face with all her happiness and exhuberance. It just comes off as incredibly phony. Not only did she stay, she won. I wanted her to get the boot as well and hated to see Takashi go. He seems like a sweet and genuine guy, as well as an excellent chef. I’m rooting for Patricia. PLEASE don’t let Lorena win it all!

    I cannot STAND Lorena – and was hoping that I missed something in the last 3 minutes – and they pulled a Project Runway and everyone stayed. I don’t know what happened after Lorena’s hand was raised (and she beat Chris), because Hubby – who doesn’t even really LIKE this show, but watches it with me, was so pissed that she beat Chris that he shut off the tv and threw our remote across the room.

    Seriously, if you can make my Hubby dislike you that much (and yes, the Taco Bell commercials are NOT helping you, Lorena), then you’ve got talent. We were hoping for a Patrica, Chris, Takashi final 3, Kerry isn’t my favorite, but I can deal with him. :( CHRIS OR PATRICIA (and her mole) FOR THE WIN!

    (But mostly Chris. He’s a classy rock star in the kitchen.)

    I also wanted Lorena to go home. Takashi’s food looks amazing and he’s such a classy guy. At least he’s already won a ton of money (20K) for his charity.

    I guess I’m rooting for Patricia now. Takashi was my favorite and my pick to win. I love Japanese people they’re just so wonderfully weird. I was hoping Lorena or Kerry would go home. Lorena for obvious reasons. And there’s just something about Kerry that bugs me. I’m not sure what it is.

    No, Patricia lost to Lorena and then competed against Takashi (who lost to Chris) – Takashi went bye bye. Patricia (and her mole) are still here! :D

    And like basically everyone here, I can’t stand Lorena. I can’t understand how she won a bacon challenge if they couldn’t taste the bacon in her dish. But hey, I never understood (and propably never will) the rules of elimination in food shows.

    Also, I found Chris very nice now that Art is gone, no one left to boss around ^^. So I guess now that Takashi is gone, I’m rooting for Chris or Patricia. Even Kerry. But please, not Lorena, she scares the shit out of me.

    What in the entire fuck happened?
    It’s bad enough that my beloved pocket monster had to go home, but the fact that Kerry and fucking loudmouth Lorena were the ones to send him there is just too much bear.
    I freaking don’t like Kerry. I agree with @sagittariuskim that there is just something about him that is a turn off, but it’s not really possible to articulate what it is.

    And Lorena.
    This bitch.
    Can’t clean up after herself, can’t employ simple problem-solving skills, works for Taco Bell, always has to be the loudest one in the room, desperately trying to embody the feisty latina stereotype even though no one likes it, can’t even make hot chocolate without putting cilantro into that shit, one way monkey Lorena. Beat Takashi. Not only did she beat Takashi, but she beat everyone else too.
    What in the entire whole fuck though.

    I wonder if Taco Bell is paying Bravo to keep her on, because I fail to see how a chowder with a sprinkle of bacon can beat a balanced and clean dish with a big ass hunk of perfectly cooked bacon. When bacon is supposed to be the star.
    And I know Curtis knows how annoying she is! He sat with her on a panel for that dumb restaurant show and had to listen to her screech about passion day in and day out. He knows!
    I am so mad at this whole thing right now.

    Chris needs to win the whole shebang and that’s all I have to say on the matter.

    And MisRed, I love that you caught Craig from TC:JD in the audience. Just the sight of him makes me burst into laughter. If I were him, I’d never show up to any Top Chef anything ever again. God, he was so awful. I hope he’s better now.
