Tough Love N.O. Recap: Family Time

Since George W’s celebrity appearance gig is going to take off and Donna was really more in love with the idea of the image of being in love in New York rather than actually living the day to day grind with a man who can have such traumatic things as morning breath and bathroom stink,

These two will be going their separate ways.

By the way, I’d like to point out that Donna is wearing the same exact outerwear, right down to the ring as we saw in the first episode when we met her and got images of her all alone in NYC.

So let me get this straight, after they got a shot
of Donna kissing George W, they had her go
sit on a bench in the park and act sad and lonely???

Now that we know about Despina’s beauty pageant days, I’m more suspicious that her reason for being here was about publicity, rather than truly learning. Although God knows the girl truly needed to learn a thing or two. If anyone can make the long distance thing work, it would be the bartender and the pilot, but my guess is this one won’t last.

She just has to work too hard at opening up to people to be willing to do it long term.

Elizabeth is a lot of work. It seems like Carl is willing to tough out the hard work up front, which is a great thing, because inside is a loving and devoted woman who would do anything for the man who saves her.

Carl could be that heroic hunk.

Stephanie is happy with how different John is from the douche bags she usually dates. I doubt they’ll be able to do a long distance thing, but at least it’s promising for her future choices.

And in the meantime they’ll enjoy each other until the cows come home.

Based on the previews and just the fact that Aubrey is too uptight not to be a man of his word, I predict

this will be a routine event in Shalana’s household.

And so the episode ends without really ending. Next week the girls will return to the Tough Love New Orleans mansion one last time to review what they’ve learned, find out what goes on the back of those necklaces and get one final shot at the hot seat. What do you think Gasmii? Are these girls ready to graduate?

See you next week!

About

Luscious just got back from a one year backpacking trip around the world with her husband (TVgasm fill-in specialist, The Professor). She spends her days writing, knitting and sewing. She's only good at one of those hobbies, not saying which.  Her secret dream is to write romance novels and have critics say her brilliance is wasted on such a pointless genre. Also, she'd like to create a pair of pajamas for her niece where the sleeves actually work.

These are just the best recaps….. my gut always hurts from laughing so hard.

Alas, poor Elizabeth. Although she “seems” to be coming around, I don’t see how that girl can give up her bling and roses long-term. She’s a hot mess, that one is.

I’ve been a huge fan of Tough Love since the first episode. Usually, this far into bootcamp I can make a fair estimation of who will stay together, who will go back to their old ways and who has at least learned something. I’m just not sure this time around. They all give me reason to doubt.

Thank you for also recognizing Donna’s date looks like George W! I thought I was the only one! I feel so bad for Elizabeth; I hope she gives Carl a chance because he seems to be a really together and caring guy. Great recaps!

Oh My GAWD I almost cried when Elizabeth couldn’t get a hold of anyone in her family. I am putting my support behind her seeing it isn’t the bling, it’s the small moments, like him bringing her breakfast after a shitty evening. And if she doesn’t want him, I do.

Danielle – what the fuck chickee? Steve, JW and Danielle’s mom need to get together and slap some sense into her. Although I am assuming mom has cracked her upside the head for the way she was talking throughout her adventure.

Stephanie is looking better and better with less makeup. You are right Luscious, why hasn’t Steve mentioned the gobs of makeup on Elizabeth. Another reason to believe he is trying to keep her for himself….. ha. My male friend thinks he is gay because his pants were so tight during panel. :)

And does Donna’s man dump her or do you think we are being set up?

Thanks for the enjoying and very funny ride Luscious.

Can’t believe this is your next to last re-cap for the show. I’ll miss your snarky humor. It always makes me laugh! “Let me just live out a little presidential fantasy and then he’s all yours…”–hystrical! Keep up the good work and thanks!!

I can’t believe this season is almost over! I totally agree with the GWB comparison, my husband and I have been saying that all along.

I felt so bad for Elizabeth, too. Like I wanted to cry. But, I have to wonder what the full story is. I think there is a lot more that we’re not hearing. Why else would not ONE person show up? And did I hear right that she has a twin? You have to mess up pretty bad for your twin to disown you!

@sardini stole the words right out of my mouth.
Elizabeth had to have done something. Even if her family were complete douchebags, there’s no way that not ONE person would text or show up. They would write back, even if just to say “haha, we’re not coming”. For them to completely ignore her, including her twin sister, she must have done something. Either she didn’t tell anyone the whole story or the producers are keeping it from us so that she can seem more sympathetic. I did feel bad for her though, because that must have been so horrible and shitty to go through.
Also, has anyone ever seen Elizabeth without her makeup? Maybe Carl didn’t show up that early, but dang…her makeup was done, hair freshly blown out…who has time for alladat?

Interesting that Despina was Miss Mass.
She’s completely the opposite of what I would think a beauty queen would be. I bet the other contenders for the title were mad when she won.

I forgot that Stephanie was husband-hungry until she mentioned that thing about Good John. They are so cute together though, and I was happy to see that Stephanie laughing at how foolish she looked on that bull. She almost had a meltdown the last time she had to make a fool of herself, so I call that progress.

This season has been weird as hell.
Usually, you feel confident that the girls have learned and changed alot, but this season, I feel like very little has been accomplished.

It may not be that Elizabeth’s family disowned her, but just that they either didn’t approve of her coming on the show or didn’t want to appear on camera. It’s not exactly your typical “meet my new boyfriend” situation, and if her family is as obsessed with keeping up appearances as she implied on many occasions, I’m not surprised that they wanted nothing to do with the charade of a reality show.

And it is a charade. The challenges have way more to do with watching these women act silly on TV, than helping them change any of their issues. If I had trouble finding love this show would be the last option I would turn to. The vast majority of women are only on here for publicity.

By this point in the show I hate one person, but I’m actually rooting all of these women on.

I felt bad for Danielle. The vague answer is worse than a yes or no.
